General Assembly

The General Assembly determines the principles of the work of the DFG. It elects the President, the Executive Committee and the Senate and confirms the appointment of the Secretary General via the Joint Committee. The General Assembly accepts the Executive Board's annual report and annual account and approves its actions.

The General Assembly takes place once every year. An extraordinary General Assembly must be convened if the Executive Committee, the Joint Committee or one third of the members request this. The members of the Executive Committee and the Joint Committee are also invited to the General Assembly, however, only in an advisory capacity.

The DFG currently has 99 member organisations. These consist of universities, other research institutions, academies of sciences and humanities, and scientific associations.
