It was engaging and the h was very naive but it’s to be expected due to the era. Some parts were predictable but for the most part I really enjoyed the story. It’s a small, light, pretty easy to read book....more

One thing I didn't like about this book is its length, the beginning is utterly mundane and boring. Even Frank and Claire were boring in their marriage. But I understand that I needed to see this to gain a better understanding of Claire and her life. I really felt like it was crazy what happened throughout the book. I enjoyed a lot of it once it got going. Jamie is awesome. I love how their relationship organically happens.
This entire book was an adventure. I kept expecting that Claire was going to end up back in her time and so I completely slowed down reading to savor the moment because I didn't want the heartbreak but this didn't happen. So read away.
Overall the book was excellent even with its extreme length....more

I figured out the murderer not early but definitely before Miranda did. It was kind of obvious.
I did get annoyed with Archer's mask issue. I didn't feel like there was enough background info to really explain to me why he was wearing the mask. It bugged me that he continued to keep it from her well past the half way mark.
I also didn't like at times Miranda seems to become a simpering female. And then at others she was strong and brave.
It's a slightly interesting story, however I'm actually much more interested in the next book, since that one will definitely be more paranormal since we are dealing with shifters. Hopefully it isn't as boring as this one was for me.
Still, I did finish it so that says something too. Once it did pick up, it picked up. Overall I did enjoy the time period this story is in. ...more
I definitely liked this better than firelight. The story flowed much better now that the perimeters of the story were done in book 1. Though early on I definitely liked this better than firelight. That came as a surprise because I had someone completely different in mind. Though it was nice for that person to not be the suspect.
Daisy and Ian are an interesting couple. And I like how the sisters have their own (view spoiler)[ powers. They are elementals, though you'd think that'd make them immortals, but it sounds like this is not the case (hide spoiler)].
I enjoyed how organically Ian and Daisy's relationship progressed and how they spoke of their fears. They were fairly honest with each other I felt.
