Quote: I shake my head with a groan. “You know that’s the last thing we’d do.” She smiles. “So you get to be Ruby. Can I be Trixie, your young but stylish assistant?” “No. If we’re doing this, I’m the only one that can get in trouble. You still get to be Paige, my annoying and way too smart for her age sister.” I rub my eyes. “I can’t believe this is happening,” I mutter.-

Carter Cash struggles with starting over. Widowed for a year and looking for direction, the mystery-TV-show fanatic agrees to assist a pal refurbishing an old yacht… and makes fast friends with a retired police dog. When the four-footed discharged cop acts strangely aboard the boat, the would-be sleuth is convinced the cargo hold might contain a hidden body.
Determined to get to the bottom of things, Carter snoops on the vessel under cover of darkness. What she dredges up could sink her and her K-9 shipmate in a deep sea of trouble.
Can Carter reel in a two-legged landshark before she and her chums are …chum?
I really liked the characters and concept of this unique campground of yurts! Wish it was really a place I could go stay.
The combo of Clarice, Carter & Law is perfect as friends and crime-solvers along with a retired K9.
Looking forward to the next book, especially with Mattie thrown into the mix! Very good cozy mystery....more

Jill Andrews’ sister-in-law, Desi owned the café, BeansTalk in downtown Ericksville, while her parents-in-law owned The Boa4,25 stars - English Ebook
Jill Andrews’ sister-in-law, Desi owned the café, BeansTalk in downtown Ericksville, while her parents-in-law owned The Boathouse, which catered for weddings and functions.
Jill’s husband Adam was away constantly with his job, so Jill quite often felt like a single mum to Mikey and Ella. The frustration of a neighbour of Jill’s who was on the town council, and his determination not to renew Desi’s lease for BeansTalk so he could have condos built there instead, was the precursor to a murder which involved Desi and Jill.
Could Jill discover who the murderer was and set the police on the right path? Or was she setting herself up for trouble?
Brownie Points for Murder is the 1st in the Jill Andrews Cozy Mystery series by Nicole Ellis, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Twists and turns, red herrings. I had no idea who the perpetrator was until I was almost at the reveal!
This is my first novel by this author and I’ll definitely read more as I like her writing style. Highly recommended....more

Emily’s tranquil domesticity with new husband Cyrus is interrupted when she is called to Hong Kong in pursuit of a vanished agent.
I have been reading and re- reading this series for years. This was one of the series that I read in October each year to clear my head.
I wore the books out over time and when I couldn't find them had them special ordered so I went at least 4 sets of these books.
Finding them again, at least the first 7 books of the series was wonderful. I love the main character in this book and the idea that she began a new adventurous life in her 60s.
It give inspiration to the rest of us to live life to the fullest and the possibility of remaining young and in good physical condition and giving in and giving up as we get older.
These books are great for women of any age - I began reading these when my in my twenties. Since I began reading them I have recommended them to any women that loved to read as much as I do....more

Emily Pollifax is one of a precious few gray-haired female ladies who solve their cases through unflagging determination, moral courage and wisdom that comes with age.
In The Amazing Mrs. Pollifax, Emily answers the call of that “nice Mr. Carstairs” to go to Istanbul as a courier and search for a missing agent.
A surprising, complete delight. I try to mix up my reading by selecting a cozy for every fifth or sixth book on a row through the year.
I'm very glad I did. Rarely have I had such a surprising good time. My first surprise was finding out that it wasn't a cozy mystery but was instead a cozy spy story.
My second surprise was discovering that it wasn't all that cozy, because it had as much action as a Tom Clancy book.
Add to that delightful characters, wild but charming coincidences, an exotic setting, bad guys who are really, really bad, excitement that constantly pushes the story forward, a little romance, wonderful humor, a lot of charm, and a heroine who is as brave as she is smart, and you have a book that gives you a big smile on every page. I'm looking forward to my next Mrs. Pollifax adventure....more
