While accompanying her father on a mission from the king, Annalisa's ship is beset by pirates and all of the goods 4 stars - English Ebook
Ahoy, Ahoy.
While accompanying her father on a mission from the king, Annalisa's ship is beset by pirates and all of the goods on the ship are stolen. A dashing young pirate named James also makes off with a kiss.
The king charges Annalisa's father with conspiring with pirates to steal from the crown. In order to clear is name, Annalisa obtains a forged letter of marque and sets out to track down James and the stolen money.
As she sails the high seas searching for a legendary treasure trove, she finds herself caught between her attractive and loyal first mate and the handsome but duplicitous James.
I was hoping for a clean, sweet romance with a touch of adventure, and that is exactly what I got.
James is a captivating lead whose loyalties and morality keep me guessing on what he'll do next and whether his next words will be truth or lies.
While the story was fairy predictable, the characters were enjoyable to read and the action exciting enough to keep me quickly turning the pages.
I'm looking forward read the next book by this author. Maybe that will be a 5 star read....more

Pirate Smith Delaney finds himself atop a tall post in the midst of a tropical lagoon waiting for a particularly gruesome death to arrive in the form of savage mer-monkeys. Attempting to keep his thoughts from the flesh-hungry piranha in the waters around him, and the imminent arrival of the Onka Din Botlay -- rippers of bone - Delaney casts his thoughts to and fro in hopes of finding a solution to his desperate predicament. Rather than discovering a clever means of escape, he is alternately drawn into examining his life to date and recalling a particularly engaging tale spun by a fellow pirate by the name of Ham Drumbone, detailing the lives of several world-shaking figures in the kingdom of Nearing Vast. Delaney's own life plays a small yet significant role in the histories of these persons, and the two trains of thought eventually converge upon the present.
Set in a fictional world somewhat reminiscent of the Elizabethan age, this is a prequel written after the conclusion of his Trophy Chase Trilogy. I found the premise of a Christian pirate novel irresistible, and the results immensely entertaining. It takes a certain amount of skill to convey authentic pirate language while refraining from outright blasphemy and cursing, yet this book pulls it off. Both his narration and dialogue are lively - vivid, captivating and just plain fun. Indeed, this is Christian fantasy today....more

Quote: " things, such as feelings.” He had not just implied her father was to blame for her mother’s death, had he? The man certainly had more tact than that.-
Quote: First he asked if maybe her father was sick, then he’d implied suicide. It was as if he was making this up as he went along. And the meeting, Kelia thought, forcing her face to be as blank as she could make it. How do you account for him asking to meet with me? -
I really enjoyed this book. It had a bit of everything and there was a big twist at the end that I didn’t see coming.
I also really liked that this wasn’t an instand love story. There was plenty of action and lovable characters.
The only downside is this book does end on a cliffhanger! Rrrrr...more
