"You know I love you, Penny Lane?" "Hey, Jude, I love you too"
Penny Lane I initially read this jokingly thinking I would relate to Penny because we’re both 17, starting our senior year with a little sister named Jude and although Penny is going through so much I could never imagine, I could still really relate to her. Penny is the kind of character you just wanna hug SO BAD. She’s going through so much, but stays in one piece and stay strong for everyone.
"And what about you, Penny Lane?" "What about me? I’m just trying to exist. You know, keep my crap together." "I never said it earlier, but I’m sorry about your sister." "I love her to the ends of the earth." "Then she’s the luckiest person on earth."
I love how on the surface the book is about Jude’s mental health struggles, but really it’s about Penny’s struggle of taking care of her. It was written so beautifully and in a way that just breaks my heart for her.
"You work so fricking hard. And for what? "For you, for mom, for life." "Its all just so exhausting: "I know," I say. But I whisper it. I never want to make her feel like a burden.
Hey Jude Jude struggles with depression and this is the first time, for me, where an author captured what depression is like so beautifully.
"I wouldn't sleep so much if life didn't hurt." "I know." Do you?" "No, not really." "I hope you never know. My everything hurts. I can feel the press of it at all angles. Like I live on a planet all by myself, a heavier planner, with way more gravity. I just want to fly. I want to live on the moon where the gravity is low and I can just soar."
Jude was just such an amazing and interesting character to read about, you never know what’s gonna happen with her. She just, ugh how do I describe it? You can tell that she’s struggling, but she tries so hard to make it hurt less for Penny and it just shatters my heart knowing that people go through this.
It breaks my heart that she might be crashing again. And it scares the crap out of me.
Overall This book was short, but it didn't need any additions. It was so close to being a full five stars for me, except that the love interest was hiding something from Penny and I thought that whole other plot line was unnecessary and very random and took away from the story. Jude and Penny’s relationship was so special and so painfully amazing to read about. I was in tears the whole book and SOBBING at the end. Although the contents are heavy, I definitely recommend <3
"Hey Jude," I say. "Penny Lane," she whispers. I told myself not to cry, but I can't help it. I sink down into the chair beside her bed, put my head down on her arm and sob. I feel her hand on my head then, softly stroking my hair. "She’s in my ears and in my eyes," Jude says, speaking louder over my tears. And I cry even harder because with those words I know that, at least for now, my sister, my everything, is going to be okay.

inseparable: 3.25 stars!
Plot War brought Radoslav and Dunya together. If she hadn't become a refugee, and he hadn't taken a job as an interpreter at the camp she was sent to, they never would have met. Now, they're taking the first tentative steps toward a peaceful future for themselves and their adopted son. Settled in a fishing village far from the conflict zone, they have good reason to hope the worst of their troubles are behind them. They could not be more wrong...
Not gonna lie, I was pretty lost a lot of the time, but that was mainly my fault because I read the 6th book in the series first sooo…. But they would say stuff like "he didn’t finish his sentence, but we all knew what he was gonna say…" and I’m sitting there like I DON’T KNOW!? I liked how there was a summary of the previous book as well as a character list, but I felt like it would’ve really added more if there was short recaps of what was going on during the book, not only for me as a new reader, but also for readers who are following the series, though with time I did start to understand it more and honestly it makes me so curious to read the rest of the series! Something else I would’ve liked to see was a bit more description of the characters. I felt like they were described very vaguely and repetitively. I really liked how the author mixed real life with made up countries and we weren’t fully thrown into a made up world. It also made it cool how you can link and compare the events that are happening in the book to real life and actual events.
Dunya Dunya is someone who went and is going through so much in her life, and I absolutely loved how I could really feel her emotions and not just read them. This made Dunya such an amazing character to read about because I really felt like I knew what she was going through.
"I was always lonely, but being lonely while surrounded by people hurt more."
Radoslav He is such a cinnamon roll who you just want to give a big hug to. Radoslav want the best for everyone he loves, especially Dunya which just makes his love so genuine and wholesome.
"Families aren’t just about sharing blood… for a real family, love and respect and mutual sacrifice are just as important-more important."
Overall The dual perspectives was so nice! I’m a huge was of it and this was done in such an amazing way. This is just my personal opinion, but although it’s cute, I feel like the cover doesn’t match that well with the story of the book. At first I didn’t really see the chemistry between Radoslav and Dunya, it felt a bit forced to me, but after learning how they got together and everything they went through and how they were handling things together and made me really appreciate their relationship and they were just so cute.
"Not much to look at, maybe, but Rado had never taken advantage of me, never lied to me. He’d never asked for anything in exchange for what he offered-except the kind of love I wasn’t sure I could give. He was so good it scared me."
Inseparable isn’t the type of book I usually read, but I really enjoyed reading something out of my comfort zone!...more
If I had to describe this book in one word, it would be: WILD… but in a good way, definitely in a good way. It's so good I wanna cry.
"Please know I say this with the utmost compassion, but you need a therapist, like holy crap."
Before even starting this book, my first impressions were that it was gonna be cringy. I’m mean I’m NoT LiKe OtHeR gIrLs? What more could I expect? But right off the bat, I fell in love. The main character, Jo, is so relatable and is one of the best characters I’ve read about in a long time. I love the feeling how she’s not telling the story, but she's really talking to you. I love how you can really feel her emotions through the book, her joy, anxiety, anger and sadness, you really feel it.
"This is the trouble with girls like me, we don't stop, don't listen, don't shut up, don't say the right thing, don't say anything when it matter most. And we run, always from something, never towards anything."
I was not expecting there to be a fake dating trope in the book, but I loved it, absolutely love it. Jo and Hudson are so friggin cute, even as friends. Hudson is the standard. Give me a Hudson right now. He's so loving and understanding and AHHH!!
"Maybe this can’t happen right now, but if I have to choose between it or you, I choose you everytime."
I loved all the characters so much. Even the ones you’re supposed to hate, I loved hating them. The dynamic of all the different characters interacting was just written so well. Each person had their own individual personalities that made it so hard not to relate to someone.
The message in this book was amazing and I hope it brings awareness to the problems discussed in the book. Following Jo in the story, finding things about herself, really made me realize things about me as well and I could really relate to her. I hope that anyone who reads this and relates to what happened to Jo, finds comfort in this book and knows they aren't alone <33
"No, two letters, one complete sentence."
I love how this was a mystery, but it wasn’t the MAIN focus and there were other things that drove the book, it made it a lot more enjoyable.
The ending was crazy and overwhelming and... underwhelming at the same time… but in a good way?? I don’t know how to explain it but everything in this book was just done right. The small hints you get, the romance, the mystery. I really REALLY enjoyed it and I’m so, SO sad to leave these characters behind.

I thi3.5 ⭐️ I wish I could rate this higher because I really liked the end, but there was so many small flaws that the end didn't quite make up for it. I think this is my first YA muslim rep fiction and I feel kinda guilty about my harsh review. But I did enjoy and there were amazing lessons and it was a cute story, but the execution could have been so much better.
Beginning ★★☆☆☆ Usually I am a huge fan of multiple POV's, but this time I was honestly just confused. Half the time I think I’m reading from Ali's perspective and I’m like HOW DID YOUR MOM COME BACK FROM THE DEAD AND HAVE TWO MORE GROWN UP CHILDREN AND YOUR DAD IS NOW M.I.A.- oh wait, this is amirah... It took some getting used to. I feel like everything at the start was really fast and the author just wanted to get to the drama asap.
Middle ★★☆☆☆ I felt like there were a lot of details which were added halfway through the book and the beginning wasn't updated. I just found myself confused most of the time. I wish that we got more information on the characters pasts and their backgrounds, but I was left with a lot of unanswered questions.
End ★★★★☆ Okay, now I'm going to stop complaining. Once you get the idea of who the characters are and what they went through, the book got much better (maybe if I reread it I would enjoy it more). The whole love triangle had me stressing while reading and I honestly didn't think it was possible for there to be a love triangle in this book... but I was wrong. The ending honestly brought tears to my eyes and I was really happy.
Amirah I really liked her backstory and how she fell away from Islam and what led her back. She is a really strong character and I enjoyed reading about her, though she did stress me out. I thought it was so cool how her brother is deaf (that sounds weirder than it did in my head) mainly because I am learning ASL and that stuff about art therapy was so interesting
Ali I don’t know he kinda weirded me out at times (especially how he talks, I don't think anyone talks like that...) but I didn't mind him. The way he feels about Amirah is just so sweet. (HOW HE TOLD HER THAT HE WOULD CARRY HER BAGGAGE WAS SO CUTE) I don’t really get why Umar (Ali's brother) was so mad about spending the summer (view spoiler)[I mean I know eventually they were planning to move, but he didn't know that (hide spoiler)]. I would love spending the summer in london. also HOW OLD IS HE?? I MUST KNOW. I wish I knew what his tattoo ment...
Writing style It was a bit childish, but I think the author was really trying to explain all these foreign words to non-muslims so I guess I understand
Overall Although I enjoyed reading a muslim rep book, I couldn't relate as much as I wanted to with the characters. I mean they were talking about marriage and pregnancy by the age of 19 just seemed crazy to me. and the fact that Amirah said that she shouldn't be able to recognize someone of the opposite gender, like I don’t know if she was kidding, but for me, that a bit much.
Also: HOW DOES ONE KISS THEIR TEETH?? I don’t know maybe its a british thing....more

first of all, the fact that these books are still coming out is crazy.
second of all, Shannon is definitely relatable and I know and recognize some of first of all, the fact that these books are still coming out is crazy.
second of all, Shannon is definitely relatable and I know and recognize some of the struggles she goes through, but i kept waiting for her explanation or her way of coping or a solution or ANYTHING, but she just locks up her problems, cries and moves on, so yeah... theres not much of a moral... and when you think something is happening it just... disappears
Literally the best part of the book was 1. Andrei (who she "left" for half of the book) and 2. the last page of the acknowledgements... so yeah that gives you a bit of an idea......more

“Every girl the Crestmonts date winds up dead”
This book was… meh. I just couldn’t connect with the characters and the story wasn’t anything memorable and I got so bored. The way the book was written definitely made me wanna keep reading because Lauren’s (fmc) past kept being mentioned without really giving answers until the end and I was too curious to dnf this (and I would’ve). There were lots of twist and turn and creepy mysteries.
“I will never forget the sounds of Clint’s screams. They were sounds I’d never heard from him before. Sounds I’d never heard from another human before. Sounds I will hear for the rest of my life.”
Lauren was a very fun mc to read about. She’s so sassy and isn’t scared to insult people when necessary. I love that Lauren is solving a mystery while we, the readers, are uncovering hers (and I loved the little investigation gang that was formed ...more
