Ghostsmith wraps up the House of the Dead duology with a pulse-pounding conclusion that delivers on the excitement and intrigue promised by its predecessor. The sequel picks up right where the first book left off, thrusting our characters back into a whirlwind of high-stakes adventure. From the halfway point to the final pages, the action is relentless, leaving readers breathless and glued to the page.
The series' standout feature remains its unique lore and world-building. The concept of bone and ghostsmiths is as fascinating as ever, with the magic system—where characters control bones and ghosts—continuing to impress. The eerie atmosphere and chilling vibes are perfect for fans of the spooky season, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to the reading experience. ...more

Listen. The buzz is real. All those readers raving about how addictive and immersive this book is? They’re absolutely right.
I was hooked from the very beginning. This is the Romantasy escape you’ve been craving—a perfect mood-lifter and slump-buster.
That said, the book could have used a bit more editing. I don’t say this lightly—it's totally a five-star storyline with five-star vibes. However, something was off, which might explain why I had issues with the main female character and a few other things that I can't really explain it just seemed off.
There is some smut and thank good the author did not change out a good storyline for smut which I've seen some books do.
Did these issues affect my enjoyment? Not at all. I still wholeheartedly recommend it and am eagerly looking forward to Book 2.
For fellow Romantasy enthusiasts, you’re in for a treat!

I couldn't put it down. The audiobook was fantastic and I was so into it that I kept switching between the audiobook and the physical book because I just loved it so much.
The main female character Wren was sassy and strong yet flawed and it was fantastic!
The main male character Julian was swoon worthy and I loved him.
Leo has to be my favorite, he was hilarious and I just loooooooved him.
The story was interesting and kept me completely engaged. It was new it was cool and I enjoyed every minute of it.
This is an actual storyline with a romance subplot and it kept me guessing and wanting more and I'm so glad things ended the way they did so it left me desperate for book 2 and I can't wait!!!

I can honestly say that I felt like the writing for this book was top notch. Kemmerer does an amazing job setting up a difficult situation where certain grey characters are in a no win situation and are literally very grey characters. I felt like Kemmerer did a great job of showing both sides of the problem and how a character realizes that all is not so black and white.
I think I was so impressed at the ability to weave a story around characters making hard choices that weren't always "the right way" morally and having characters caught in between.
While this is a YA book it has serious depth to it which allows even adults to enjoy and youth to explore the "what would you do if you were in this situation"
I loved it.
Highly recommend!

I really liked it at first and then about 2/3 through I was done.... like this was loooong and I'm all for long stories but dude... after a while I just got bored with their story.
What kept me going was the new side characters that were brought into the story for that last 1/3 of the book and I liked what the author did with them. I would love to read the story of Blaise and who the author paired him up with.
I really felt like this was well written overall I just got bored with Malfoy and his pining after they got together and them together just got boring after a while and I was more interested in other aspects.
Overall I see why people liked it!

So I need to accept that this is someone else's variation to the original. However, my biggest beef is that the two main characters Hermione and Draco were so different from the original that it just annoyed me in some ways.
Hermione was this simpering shy girl unless really riled up then the feisty girl came out but most of the time she was this quiet secret in love crush with Draco girl... like whaaaaat???? Where was the smart know-it-all? where was the snarky sarcastic girl who had so much wit and smart-aleck remarks? instead I got... this... weird obsessive quiet version and I didn't like it.
I finished and it was still enjoyable enough for me to finish AND give it 3 stars instead of less. It's a Dramione fanfic what can I say! I'm obsessed but nothing beats the first 3 books I read based off the Dramione troupe.
Overall it wasn't horrible, the change in character personality bothered me but when I separated it from the Dramione troupe it wasn't bad.

I appreciate I can tell it's good when I get so involved with the audiobook that I put it down so I can pick up the physical copy in order to finish. I appreciate audiobooks, they have helped me get through some books but many times it's been a great tool for me to get started with a book then finish with all the emotions and voices in my own head (which are always better).
That being said....
I really enjoyed this book. It's unique! It isn't a story I've ever read before which is a breath of fresh air!
I really don't want to say too much so I don't give anything away. Ravyn our main male lead is such a nice guy you just melt with him. Elsbeth our main female lead I just felt so bad for her! All the side characters you just love and I appreciate the family-like sibling feel to their friendships and common goal.
If you're looking for a good unique story pick this one up! I can see why it's gotten so popular!

The beginning gives an engaging portrayal of Niamh's introduction to the court and her relationship with Kit. I loved how grouchy Kit was through most of the book which I appreciated. The forbidden romance and the magical elements, specifically Niamh's ability to weave magic into clothing, are all definitely positives to the story.
However, my interest waned around the halfway point due to the introduction of multiple complex elements in the plot. These elements include political intrigue, civil unrest, arranged marriage, coming out, alcoholism, forbidden romance, gossip columns, and magic which actually I thought were all great until it wasn't. The abundance of these plot threads challenging to keep up and made the story less enjoyable for me I think just how the author tried to work them all through the story.
There were many times I felt like the story was dragging almost going nowhere and many things pointless. I did however really enjoy several of the side characters! There were times the language was too modern like the curse words that just were thrown in there randomly and it didn't fit the setting.
In the end, the book is just "okay," with a few enjoyable moments that make it worth the read, despite the issues highlighted above.
Okay I read the first book of Serpent & Dove and I loved it. Due to waiting for the other books I never made it back to the series.

This book sounded amazing and I started reading it having no idea it was set in the same world AFTER the Serpent & Dove series ended and it's a spin off with a character from that first series. I didn't even realize it was the same author. Needless-t0-say I now know how the rest of the series ended and I'll probably never read them even though I own them. That being said I heard many were disappointed with the rest of Serpent & Dove which is a bummer.
This book was AAAMMMAAAAZZZZING!!!! I first started with the audiobook but soon found myself unable to put the book down and picked up the physical copy so I could read fast and with my own voices and emotions when reading it. I freaking loved this book. LOVED IT.
I am dying with that ending though. DYING! I need book 2 and we don't even have a title or date for book 2.
I loved all the morally gray characters, the character development of them all, the twists and turns of the mystery behind everything. So many different mysteries that the author was able to tie all together so nicely.
I need more vampire stories like this!!!

I can honestly say I am glad I finally read this series and I am happy it's done. I can see why many people are attached to it as Maas weaves sooooo many characters into her stories that you find those you like and those you don't like and it all comes together.
It's rare for me to show outwardly any emotion when it comes to books so the fact that I got teary-eyed TWICE during this book says a lot!
Maas definitely took her time with that either to drag it out or wasn't ready for it to end I am not sure but it was a good ride as well as fun to see the growth in Maas's writing. She has a style and it's clear in all the books she writes.

I started off with the audiobook and the person doing the narration was great until she had to do male parts then she was HORRIBLE. It was SOOOO BAD.
And the sad thing for me is, if it weren't for the audiobook to help me get through ALL THE FETCHING INFO DUMP I would've totally DNF'd this book. Which is sad because there are so many amazing things about it.
Namely....the romance aspect of it. This is a TRUE enemies-to-lovers/hate-to-love story. I mentioned in my updates that the MFC annoyed me a lot BUUUUUT I didn't hate her because I could understand and appreciate the real struggle and hate for one's enemies while being drawn to them.
Now I hear this started off as a Reylo fanfic that the author was able to turn into an actual book. However, I REFUSE to visualize the MMC as Adam Driver (as much as I liked him in Star Wars-unpopular opinion I know).
Sadly I can understand why this isn't doing so well. There is just so much unnecessary crap in here. I zoned out so many times and then then when I moved to the physical copy I did skim because I didn't CARE about all the added info that was added. I think I understand that the author wanted to really do a major world building but it got boring and slow and it dragged the story.
Overall I DO want to read book 2 which is what saved this book from being a complete dud for me. The story of Talasyn and Alaric is NOT over which I appreciate!!! I hate it when they get together too soon, I lose interest in the story after that.

The magical elements seamlessly integrate into the world, creating an atmosphere that feels both fantastical and grounded in its own rules.
The main characters are the heart and soul of the story. Their growth, challenges, and interactions are make them easy to connect with and invest in. I really liked them. Raina and Alexus story was sweet. The only issue I had was, where Alexus does his "like" for Raina came from, it mentions that there's always been something about her for him....what?! That was the only hole I saw.
One standout aspect is the main villain, a character whose complexity and depth are particularly engaging. I am not going to lie there were moments I was more invested in the villain than I was in the hero. There goes my love for the bad-boys again... I really want a redemption arc of his character.
"The Witch Collector" is a captivating read that masterfully blends intricate world-building, relatable main character. The author's enchanting storytelling draws readers into a world with magic and witches resulting in a a really enjoyable read.

Prepare for a fast-paced adventure that will take your breath away. This is a page-turner that blends excitement, forbidden romance, and intriguing world-building seamlessly. The author's ability to weave these elements together creates a narrative that kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book.
The forbidden romance between the two main characters is electric, giving me goosebumps with each stolen glance. Their love story is a compelling force in the midst of danger, making it impossible to put the book down.
The world-building was awesome. The author has crafted a unique and immersive world that is both vivid and thought-provoking.
With unexpected twists and turns, the plot keeps you guessing and hungry for more. The story's unpredictability adds an element of excitement and ensures that you're never quite sure what will happen next.
The ending, while satisfying in its own right, leaves you with the knowledge that the characters have many trials to overcome. It's a brilliant setup for what promises to be an engaging series or sequel, and I can't wait to see where the author takes these characters next.
In this book, you'll find a delightful mix of adventure and romance that will leave you eagerly awaiting the next installment. Highly recommended for those who love a fast-paced, thrilling read with a touch of forbidden romance.
