And nobody hate me buuuuuut The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue was a book I enjoyed, truly. Overall. It just wasn’t without its flaws. V.E. Schwab’s writing is undeniably beautiful and evocative, painting vivid scenes and capturing emotions with elegance. However, the plot became quite repetitive after a while. While the repetition seemed intended to underscore Addie’s torment of being forgotten, it eventually started to wear thin and left me feeling a bit bored.
Addie herself didn’t seem to evolve much throughout the story, which made it challenging to stay fully engaged with her journey. I found myself wishing for more growth or change in her character. Henry, while endearing in his own way, felt somewhat bland and struggled with a similar self-centeredness as Addie. This made it difficult for me to connect with him or see him as a dynamic character.
On a more positive note, I appreciated Schwab’s unique take on the theme of wish fulfillment. Rather than starting with a sense of freedom before revealing the curse, the novel presents the wish as a curse from the beginning, which added an interesting layer to the story.
Luc, the dark and charming god of the story, was a standout character for me. I found myself rooting for him more than for Henry, enjoying the complexity and intrigue he brought to the narrative.
Overall, while The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue has its merits, including its lyrical prose and fresh approach to wishes and curses, the repetitive plot and static character development kept it from being a more compelling read for me.

First off this is my first book by this author. yes that's right I still haven't read her other stuff.
I seriously read this in 24 hours because I couldn't put it down. I really enjoyed it! So why the 3.5? Well I have always struggled with loads of sex that lead to love which I all the trope "lust-to-love" this was kind of that way. It had a great premise, great characters but then in the middle just tons and tons of sex that lead to feelings and love. It's just not my thing! But at the same time I can't really call this "lust-to-love" because of the whole *SPOILER ALERT* . . . . . "mate" thing.
I really did enjoy the MFC and MMC and all the side characters. I loved Misery's sass and sense of humor. I loved Ana and her cute little self. I just really enjoyed the overall story.
The whole "knot" thing that dogs do? yeah that was weird but I can get why the author did that because that's what dogs do! but 30 mins? ugh!
Overall I really enjoyed the overall story, the mystery and the characters. My biggest complaint is the whole sex-to-love stuff.

The story was captivating from start to finish, and I couldn't put it down. The romance was meh for me. I hated Catalina's insta-love of her man but that's all the criticism I have for this story honestly. What I loved most was how the author left me hanging with a tantalizing cliffhanger that has me eagerly reaching for the next book in the series. A fantastic read that deserves four stars!

However I can see why so many people like this book. I was totally sucked into the story and the mysteries behind the main characters and everything/everyone else.
Regardless of the weirdness of harems it was tolerable and I want to find out somethings so I'll cautiously continue.

I loved the Victorian era and the ball gowns and all that, I loved the description of the main female protagonist.
The murder mystery? meh. I am so dense I usually never see things coming, I usually never see the twists coming. With this? oh man I guessed it all halfway through the book!!! How utterly disappointing!!!
The writing felt very juvenile for me. Like I was reading bigger print middle grade story. It lacked substance.
I am not sure I will read the next book. This is so liked that it went from a 2 book duology to what... 3 or 4 book series! Maybe with time and practice the writing will get better. I can hope for that. Am I done with this author? Absolutely not. Just not sure if I'll read the next one or the next....I'm so bummed I didn't like it as much as I hoped.

This was super cute, clean fun.
The characters were easy to like, the world building understandable-probably because it's our today world- honestly the overall story was fine.
My biggest issue was the writing. The writing choppy and lacking but not bad. Some things were too fast and at times felt forced. Not sure if it's because you've got 2 different writers writing the book or what but the pace was at times off but mainly the writing just seemed choppy.
I did however immediately grab for book 2 as book 1 left you on a Terrible cliffhanger. It was ended so abruptly it felt like the book was ripped the book in half and declared book 1 & 2.
I do recommend this book though. It's fun and I'll keep my eye out for more on these 2 authors!
Okay I probably should've read the series before this one, it probably would've made better sense...

Here's the thing, it started off really good and I really did like the beginning of it but the more I read the story the more it became weird to me. Like I felt like the author was adding everything and mixing things that in my opinion just didn't mix well. The more I realized that this book had everything under the sun in fantasy or whatever that I found myself becoming less and less interested and while the main character started off totally bad-A turned into a wilting flower so distraught with her part in the ending of the world that instead of feeling sorry for her I got annoyed.
I was grateful that while this is considered "erotica" it really wasn't. I say that because in my opinion erotica books are sex focus and books with sex in them are storyline driven. This book had a storyline! I was more than half way before things got erotic.
But I stopped caring, I lost interest in the story and the main character so I lost interest in finishing the book.
Overall it just wasn't for me.

I absolutely love the overall story. I love the complex, flawed characters. I love the mystery, on the hunt, search for the treasure type story. I love the strong female protagonist of this story. I love the world building and the fact that it's set in Dublin. etc.
I love Jericho Barrons, he is such a complex character with so much mystery and history to him you can't help but read more to find out more about him in particular.
I love Mac as this can also be a growing up story for her. I love her sassiness and strong character. I love her sarcasm.
I just love these 2 characters so much of this story. Their chemistry is off the charts and you can't help but be sucked into their world with them.
Listen, I love spice and spicy books within reason. So, what I absolutely hated was a fae character whose whole aura is that of sexual drive. I absolutely hate the sexual content of this story. It was so unrealistic and weird. It did NOT make me feel good, and I hated how it was used in the story. It was so weird. I did not like it at all. It destroyed the awesomeness of this book.

I do believe this author has potential, her writing was pretty good and it flow fast and easy. I wish there was just more to the story, you know? MOOOORE. this book and story had loads of potential, I want more story, not a quick adventure and be done. I wanted more depth more everything. It was that good!
The romance had SOOOOOOO much potential, but it was too quick and too fast for my tastes, some people like that, I wanted it stretched out I wanted to see real tension and progress, the one that requires time and effort not just some attraction and fated love, you know?
Anyway it was fun, I don't regret reading it and I'll check out the next book. ...more
REREAD: still really enjoyed the book maybe not as much as when I first read it but still enjoyed it a lot. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~REREAD: still really enjoyed the book maybe not as much as when I first read it but still enjoyed it a lot. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Original Review: HOLY COW!!! FINALLY a book worth raving about!
Not gonna lie it took me a good 1/4 (quarter) of the book to really get into it. I heard about how good this book was from my friend Bridget (darkfaerietales_) and so I knew it was gonna be good... then I couldn't get into it, but due to a long road trip I was able to listen to it TILL I got to the part I was hooked. FINALLY!
It's been a LONG time since I found a book I couldn't put down. Yes I've become that incredibly picky. I finally finished this book last night just after 12am and I immediately looked for when book 2 comes out. AND I ordered the UK hardback of this book even though I already has the US version. That's how much I loved this book!
The writing was excellent! Everything was very well done. The world building was vivid and clear. The characters had depth and substance to them. Nothing was what it seemed (although I will say I figured out the mystery of "who done it" very early on) in regards to the characters because there was just so much more than your typical mystery. This was no ordinary mystery there was so much more to the story and it's characters. I could see, hear, taste, and smell everything the author wrote. Everything about this book was beautiful and vivid. I LOVED IT!
I'm desperate to get my hands on book 2 and can't wait for that day to come!
MUST OWN!

Armentrouts books, they are simple and fun when I'm in need of something not deep at all.
So I didn't realize this was a spin off of one of her old series The Dark Elements and I had only read the first book as the others weren't out yet and I forgot about the trilogy. So, when I got closer to the end I had to smack myself and realize who characters were and now I had The Dark Elements spoiled for me haha oh well.
I really enjoyed diving into this world, it's something new-ish especially something about gargoyles which was super fun. And to have "the chosen one" or "unique born child with special unique abilities" or "the last of her kind" troupes is fun to read.
The characters were fun and the twists weren't something I saw coming and when it did happen I was like, "well duh!" as I slap my forehead but that also tells you that I was so invested in the story.
I DO love a good bad boy BUUUUUT that is not who Zayne was, he was a good guy just a good guy and I wasn't bored with him like I usually am with "good guys" I know that sounds horrible but it's fiction and I read to be entertained SO for a "good guy" he wasn't boring and I think that's super important to note. I loved him.
I LOOOOOOVED the spunk of Trinity as a character she was everything I love in a female character, snarky, fun, flawed, good, loyal and not annoying. She was awesome which again is important to be able to connect with the characters and I definitely connected.
Overall it's just a fun story and I really enjoyed it. It's just simple good entertainment reading. Does that sentence even make sense....? anyways...
It's so nice to have finally read a book that was printed not on the amount of pages of the book. I get it, it costs the publishers mon4.5 actually...
It's so nice to have finally read a book that was printed not on the amount of pages of the book. I get it, it costs the publishers money to print book not knowing how the book will do but this? this actually took it's time unfolding the story without being boring and I loved it.
The story was not boring on any page, it wrapped you up like a warm fuzzy blanket taking into this world of witches and witch hunters.
Lou or female protagonist was so fun to read, I love snarky strong females and she didn't disappoint one bit. The author did a fantastic job with her and I found myself smiling or chuckling at her antics.
I loved Reid, I loved his sweet strong self, so wonderful so good and true. *sigh* I might have fallen in love.
There were twists and turns for sure that I shouted "I KNEW IT!" or "HOW DID I NOT SEE THAT???" Seriously, no joke, my husband looked at me funny. And it wasn't like oh surprise here... and a surprise there...Noooooo the author decided to throw everything at you, all at once like a bunch of hairy balls flying at your face...(don't ask me where I got that from, I think I got from hanging around the character Lou too much).
Overall the storyline was so fun and the author did such a good job captivating me as the reader. I can't wait for book 2.

It was okay at best. maybe 2 stars would be more accurate but I was enjoying the audio more than actually reading which never happens soooo..... there's that.
There were no real surprises. Everything was too easy and I figured it all out. Boom. That's how you know it wasn't that good, cause if I can figure it out early on then dude it's not the best because I suck at those type of things and this was easy.
The whole book was just easy. No real struggle. sure sure the character got the wind knocked out of her finding somethings out but honestly I think it would be more of a lightbulb coming on more for me than getting mad...I mean come on, or she was just clueless and didn't really pay attention? whatever.
There was ONE SMALL surprise for me but nothing life changing or exciting to even really going into depth about.
Everything was just so typical it made the book not really exciting to get to. It took me months to get through this book because it was just so mediocure for me. It was something to listen to when I was on long drives.
Overall I didn't have high expectations so it wasn't anything too disappointing for me. ...more

I wasn't really impressed with anything and I hated the "soul-mate/insta-love" thing going on. I get what the author did there but it wasn't working for me. It would've been better if it was dragged out a bit more but the sexual tension made it all eye rolling for me.
I did enjoy the story-line and and where the author was taking it, i wish there was more to the world building, and the writing needed more but overall it wasn't horrible.
The main character annoyed me a bit and I like my characters spunky and sassy but she was a bit much and came off as a bit annoying instead of defiant or rebellious.
