**I was given ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.**
When it comes to indie authors I am VERY selective in whom I choose to read from. Simply because in my experience they are generally poorly written and full of content I am uncomfortable with. HOWEVER, with that said, I read another book by this author called Mooncalf that was amazing. So when I was contacted to read this book I hopped to the chance.
This book is unlike her other work that I read, you could see the progression in her writing. It's a YA story with everything you could possibly want in a book. Swoon worthy romance, action that is non-stop and keeps you at the edge of your seat, as well built post apocalyptic world that is relatable, plus it gets a person to think and put one-self in these situations and you find yourself questioning ,"would I do that if I were in this situation?" seriously!
This books grabs you from the get-go, you're immediately hook and leaves you wanting more. DANG IT it's going to be a trilogy which mean I'm going to have to wait for book 2! grrrr.
Tess was a great character- relatable in every way, she is a typical teenage girl with spunk that was at times annoying but hey she's had a hard life and lives in this time so, can you blame her?

I really like Parrish- I LOVE male characters that are kinda dark and brooding, I liked his audacity and his character that leaves a bit of mystery as to why he is the way he is.
I REALLY liked the romance, because for the love of all that is holy it is NOT insta-love! WHOOT! I like the chemistry between Tess and Parrish which totally kept me interested in the rest of the story. TEAM PARRISH!
I absolutely loved the whole idea of this story and the fact that it's completely believable. As in, the fact that this could actually happen. There were no sci-fi/dystopian aspects to this, no machines that could read people, no fantastic guns that shoot lasers. No, this was complete and utter survival that is realistic which is refreshing, yet the story itself was fascinating.
Overall: I would recommend this story to anyone of all ages who is in need of a good story which great romance that leaves you wanting more.

This was recommended to me by someone off Twitter, I hadn’t heard of this book and I am so glad that they told me about it! WOW if you love fantasy with an AMAZING storyline you should totally check this out!
It is, but it isn’t a retelling of Beauty and the Beast. Well, that is what I was expecting and actually it started off that way and then Novik made this story her own, I would say it has a Beauty and the Beast FEEL to it, but in actuality it is, it’s very own story.
This story is well-drawn, with vivid characters, beautiful descriptions, an amazing world-building, fantastic descriptions that aren’t so out-of-this-world crazy or overdone that it’s a turn off. It has an undertone of romance, amazing action, mystery, and humor. This story is creepy at times yet exciting. The characters were so well done I could literally picture them in my mind and feel like I was actually a fly on the wall. THAT is how well written this book is.
This story tells of the Dragon who takes a girl every ten years to work with him and when their time is up, these girls are gorgeous women with wealth-yet changed that they no longer can return and stay with their past place and loved ones.
When Agnieszka is chosen to serve the Dragon, their lives are changed forever.
I loved Agnieszka because she ISN’T the prettiest or the “brightest”. But she is special. Something we mere mortals can relate too. I loved everything about her-except the fact I felt like she cried too much, and that was a bit annoying, other than that, I loved her.
The Dragon was…just…interesting. I can understand why he is the way he is and it makes for a great love/hate dynamic between him and Agnieszka which made for some great funny scenes and yet have those very few heartwarming ones. He was just overall fascinating.
Overall I would recommend anyone who is a lover of adult fantasy.
Sexual Content: heavy (talk of rape, an almost sex scene that got pretty detailed, and an actual sex scene that is again detailed) Violence: moderate (fantastical violence, creepy characters, battle scenes) Drugs/Alcohol: moderate Language: mild/none (that I recall)...more
I’ve really enjoyed this duo! The first book was just swoon worthy and SUPER fun to read! *sigh* Bishop….
Ok if you’re looking for a clean good romance this I would recommend to anyone!
Book two is no different in wonderfulness than book one and I greatly appreciate that! We all fell in love with the story and the characters and the world building.
In this book we continue with the story after Ivy has been banished and she is out beyond the fence. Where she has nothing but the clothes on her back to survive. Her whole life she’s been brought up to fear what’s beyond and now…she’s beyond everything and everyone she’s ever known and loved.
This was good because I enjoyed the fact that it was brutal and very real. I really enjoyed the dangers and reality of what she faced. Nothing came that easy and I appreciated that.
I absolutely am grateful for a wonderful author and writer who can write a male character that is GOOD! Bishop in all his glory is not perfect but dang it, he is close to it and I just loved him. From the first book through the second he remained a gentleman, kind, sweet, thoughtful and just all around GOOD! Too many of these YA books have toxic male or female love interest and it horrible!
I enjoyed Ivy and her character development. Throughout both books we see her constantly struggle with who she is and who she wants to be while battling everything that she was taught against everything that is in front of her. She was just super fun and great to read.
Overall this book is fabulous and I am so grateful to EntangledTeen for reaching out to me to read and review this book! Seriously AWESOME!

Those people who love ancient history mixed with fantasy will love this book. The ability to capture the time, history, culture so vividly is one thing that made this book so amazing. It was beautiful. However I am sure those history buffs may find plenty of fault in this book-they usually do, I’m just sayin. Especially when it comes to Alexander the Great but honestly I’ve heard different accounts on this part of history that I don’t know what to believe so I was able to enjoy this story for what it gave. Plus I’m a complete sucker for mythology so if you like history with mythology/fantasy you’ll love this book.
Plus this book has everything you could possibly as for in a story. Magic, romance, deception, secrets, mystery, epic battle scenes, lies and leaves you completely ready for book two. UGH the horror of having to wait.
The different points of view were a little annoying at first but once you got the voices and characters down it was no big deal and I understand the need to have them. I ended up enjoying the different POVs as I got to know and see morf6247619a13626e0281b4fca7b81be23.jpge of the story and it was interesting to see the different perspectives. I felt the author did a great job of keeping the voices distinct and the characters separate. Katerina was an okay character, a little self-involved who communicated poorly but then again without faults in characters how else are we supposed to get some tension and some story! overall she wasn’t terrible but not amazing, just okay and I didn’t hater her. I found it a little weird that all the boys were in love with her…seriously.
The other guys Jacob, Alexander, Hephaestion were fun and I loved getting to know them and their POVs. Jacob was a bit of a nut in the romance department as it took him FOREVER to realize his feelings, and Hephaestion was a good “competitor.”
The romance was swoon worthy and it was great to read and watch the progression of the characters involved. It didn’t overwhelm the story which I ALWAYS appreciate but it was definitely there and it had me rooting for these characters and LOVED their interactions.
Overall the book was well written and completely enjoyable. I look forward to more from this author in the YA department, and I can’t wait for book two!...more
Thank you to my bookclub friend who picked this book for the month's read. It was fabulous. After being in a reading slump for so long this helped me Thank you to my bookclub friend who picked this book for the month's read. It was fabulous. After being in a reading slump for so long this helped me get back out. It was completely un-put-down-able.
However I am one of those people who love stories such as this, depressing, but there is something beneath it all that fascinates me. The deep brain wash and propaganda of Hitler and how it all transpired, the depth of soul in the lives of people in the camps, the truth behind such a tragic part of history. It's real and tragic.
This story is a retelling of the biblical account of Esther and it follows a woman who was saved at the last second from a firing squad due to some "mistake" on her papers. Under the false name of Stella Muller she is moved from a camp to another camp, this time as a secretary at the transit camp of Theresienstadt (which actually exists). There under the employ of Kommandant Colonel Aric von Schmidt who isn't what he appears to be. I liked Stella because she was honest, having lived through time in a camp the author did a great job of creating the character and showing the deep fear, mistrust and horror of what she went through, yet the struggling of knowing she should be out there suffering with her fellow jews, yet not wanting to leave the comforts of this mistaken identity. Due to the fact that Stella has suffered so long in a camp she has to wear a wig of red hair to hide the baldness of her head from being shaved, she is impossibly thin and gaunt and the author painted a perfect picture of that aspect. And it was interesting to watch her transformation from starving survivor to a beautiful woman, wanted and adored.

I liked Aric, I enjoyed the inner struggle of everything, he wasn't exactly a nazi he was a german completing orders he hated because that is what he was trained to do. Having fought for Germany he was wounded and offered a high position in which he dislikes but will do as commanded. I enjoyed the many levels of depth to this man as he finds his inner struggle to find the peace he hasn't ever had in just about all his lift, I enjoyed that you weren't ever sure as to what he would do and it kept you on your toes especially if you know of the account of Esther in the bible.
The romance was a little too cheesy for me, however, I understand the need for cheese in this story. I enjoyed the inner struggle of both Aric and Stella with their feelings and the hidden truth Stella was afraid to tell which added a but of mystery to the story which I liked.
Overall this retelling was fabulous and I was impressed at the authors telling of the real life aspect of the truth on what went on behind closed doors and not just between these two characters but other key players whose were actual nazi and enjoyed the suffering of others. I firmly believe that even though all the evil that was going on there were still good germans who fought for Germany and not for Hitler. I really enjoyed the showing of that in certain aspects.<

This was a book I was so looking forward to! It immediately captured my attention, when I read the synopsis.
I LOVED the overall story of this book, I really enjoyed the mystery and the twist and turns the author took to make this a really fun read.
This story focuses on Audrey as our main character. Her family has just suffered a devastating loss when her mother passes away. Torn by grief, her father decides to take them to their grandmother’s house to live. On the way there they stop at a hotel for the night. Hotel Ruby. Which turns into two nights and three nights…. Every night however there is a ball that is only gained entrance to by an invite which Audrey never gets.
I liked Audrey but found her to be a bit-a lot-annoying in the romance department. I liked her strength and snarky-ness.
I liked the hotel and everything about it. I loved the side characters that made it more intriguing and the horror behind it all. I pictured an old, hauntingly beautiful hotel that had it’s modern updates but stayed very old fashion.
The romance….annoyed me. Sorry but it was insta-love and it moved too quickly for my tastes. Plus I was really sick and tired of hearing Audrey go on and on about Elias and it just…bothered me.
Overall I LOVED the plot, but got annoyed with some of the content.

I love this series. I love the adventure, fantasy, romance, action and the pure fun of it all. Sandra Original Review found at: www.awesomebooknut.com
I love this series. I love the adventure, fantasy, romance, action and the pure fun of it all. Sandra Waugh is an excellent writer and can’t wait for the rest of these books. I love how they are all connected but are still it’s own individual story. Like Cinder by Marissa Meyer each book and story is involved in a grand scheme of things. What’s great is you could read each book and not have some cliff hanger while you wait a whole other year for the second book. Nope it ends and then you can wait and read the next book without having to worry about remembering what happened in the first book but still enjoy the story and the grand overall storyline/plot.
Evie is a healer and because of that her “power” or “ability” won’t allow her to harm herself. So when love dies she has nothing else to live for and tries to find ways to end her suffering.
However what she doesn’t know is the world needs her in order to save what is happening she is forced into a search for a stolen amulet which only can be obtained by the one who is the Guardian of Death. When Evie finds out that, that guardian is her, she struggles with this new burden she must bare. However fate would have it that she would not do this alone and provides a companion for her; to awaken her guardianship and protect her at all costs while she finds this stolen amulet that must be found before it is destroyed.
I loved the adventure, hardship and trials these two face while trying to remain true to themselves and their calling.
Everything about this series is great for those in need of an awesome adventure with some romance.
The romance wasn’t overwhelming to the story which I GREATLY appreciate. Plus the guy is completely swoon worthy. *sigh*
Overall this is a must own series for all ages.
