I absolutely love the overall story. I love the complex, flawed characters. I love the mystery, on the hunt, search for the treasure type story. I love the strong female protagonist of this story. I love the world building and the fact that it's set in Dublin. etc.
I love Jericho Barrons, he is such a complex character with so much mystery and history to him you can't help but read more to find out more about him in particular.
I love Mac as this can also be a growing up story for her. I love her sassiness and strong character. I love her sarcasm.
I just love these 2 characters so much of this story. Their chemistry is off the charts and you can't help but be sucked into their world with them.
Listen, I love spice and spicy books within reason. So, what I absolutely hated was a fae character whose whole aura is that of sexual drive. I absolutely hate the sexual content of this story. It was so unrealistic and weird. It did NOT make me feel good, and I hated how it was used in the story. It was so weird. I did not like it at all. It destroyed the awesomeness of this book.

BUT this hate-to-love was.... just.... okay. I figured everything out, there wasn't anything really special about it.
I DID LOVE THE SLOW BURN THOUGH! truly. I loved that.
I appreciated the Macon (weird name) wasn't just a jerk, I loved his humor and I just loved him. Truly I did.
I really did like Delilah and her strong yet so true vulnerability. When I mean "true" I mean it truly was realistic and I can appreciate that for sure.
I loved the interactions between Macon and Delilah and their quips.
I think was didn't do it for me was just... I don't know I think I wanted them to actually "hate" each other more, I wanted more depth and slow change instead of "well I grew up and never really hated you and truly and just a nice guy"
Honestly my opinion does NOT mean this book is bad. I just got bored with it rather quickly and ended up skimming the rest of the story once it got to a certain point because I just kinda knew how it was all gonna play out. so meh... ...more

Listen, I was loving the book, I mean seriously loving it. Sunshine meats Mr. Grumpy-Gills and I was there for it all! Then... it just became so anticlimactic and when the final "together" happened? it fell so flat, this book built up and built up so much tension and then.....meh...
The silliness over what made certain people upset was totally stupid. Like it just completely fell flat for me. I was sooooooo disappointed! I felt nothing.

I will say that I got a Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier vibe through it all as well so it was definitely a well round mix of everything. So much adventuring, romance, mystery, intrigue etc.
No wonder this trilogy is so popular! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

So I didn't realize this was a spin off of one of her old series The Dark Elements and I had only read the first book as the others weren't out yet and I forgot about the trilogy. So, when I got closer to the end I had to smack myself and realize who characters were and now I had The Dark Elements spoiled for me haha oh well.
I really enjoyed diving into this world, it's something new-ish especially something about gargoyles which was super fun. And to have "the chosen one" or "unique born child with special unique abilities" or "the last of her kind" troupes is fun to read.
The characters were fun and the twists weren't something I saw coming and when it did happen I was like, "well duh!" as I slap my forehead but that also tells you that I was so invested in the story.
I DO love a good bad boy BUUUUUT that is not who Zayne was, he was a good guy just a good guy and I wasn't bored with him like I usually am with "good guys" I know that sounds horrible but it's fiction and I read to be entertained SO for a "good guy" he wasn't boring and I think that's super important to note. I loved him.
I LOOOOOOVED the spunk of Trinity as a character she was everything I love in a female character, snarky, fun, flawed, good, loyal and not annoying. She was awesome which again is important to be able to connect with the characters and I definitely connected.
Overall it's just a fun story and I really enjoyed it. It's just simple good entertainment reading. Does that sentence even make sense....? anyways...

I will pick up ANYTHING that's a hate-to-love troupe/story. It's my favorite and I'll always read it regardless of who wrote it and what it's about. I don't care, just give it to me.
This book was fun and completely predicable but still fun chick-lit regardless. The characters stayed true to what they were supposed to, it didn't show the crazy "sexual tension" until it was time and "necessary" so the book didn't lean on sexual tension to tell the story but actual hate from a certain character. you know what I mean? anyway
The only disappointment was the main male protagonist, when we read his reaction when certain things got tough I could sympathize to point but the other half of me was like...really? dude... but, this has nothing to do with the author just me talking about the book itself. Regardless I found myself chuckling along with some situations the characters found themselves it, and just enjoyed the chick-lit it was meant to be.
Overall it was fun and just what I needed.

2 things that I struggled with, Trystan my main man seemed to have lost a bit of "himself" when it came to Delany maybe I expected a little more struggle on his part.
And when a certain event happened it came on easily like there was no struggle emotionally or mentally when it happened.
Anyway overall I really liked the series mostly because I loved Trystan and his character. He ROCKED!...more

I picked up this book due to the constant posting I saw on this book, plus a friend kept recommending it to me.
Little did I know it was a gender swapI picked up this book due to the constant posting I saw on this book, plus a friend kept recommending it to me.
Little did I know it was a gender swapped version of Pretty Woman with autism.
I found myself loving the story because I loved the female protagonist who is autistic or more specifically has Aspergers (yes I know it's under the autism umbrella).
The story wasn't anything really new, and of course you know how everything would play out and the only thing that kept me reading and wading through all the sex was Stella and her autism self.
I loved that the author didn't just throw autism in there, the whole story was focused on Stella and her autism, her struggles, how she ticks, works, feels, things that overstimulate her, bother her skin and her need for structure and routine. I loved being inside her head all the time with her struggles as well as her resolve to work through things.
It was awesome to see a character with real life differences and still be "normal" and what I mean by that is that she isn't treated or seen as someone "less" because of her autism but someone who can and does function like any person in the real world. I loved it. Stella is what made me finish the book.
Overall the story was nothing new at all and sometimes sappy and cheesy but I loved what the author did with Stella.

A Beauty and the Beast retelling? yes please!
This was such a sweet and fun story, and retellings are usually really hard to redo and I definitely feel the author did a phenomenal job with this one! I love how dark this one is too!
This story is about a Princes' last chance to break the curse holding him and destroying his kingdom. Doomed to repeat each a season, he must find a girl who will fall in love with him in order to break the curse. He's had three hundred seasons to get this curse broken, and every season he fails. Obviously. By the turn of each season he turns in to a beast which is different every time and he looses himself to that beast ultimately causing death, blood, and destruction.
I loved the characters in this book, each one was strong in their own way and very distinct. I struggled at times with Harper our female protagonist, but overall I had to really out myself in her shoes in order to be okay with some things she did, but overall I really liked her and found her to be strong in her own way and I appreciated it.
I LOVED Rhen, our prince/beast. He was practically perfect in every way as well as his commander Grey. Loved them both!
The imagery was perfect, and I was able to picture everything easily as the author described. The writing I struggled with a bit, but it's an ARC and I'm sure those kinks were worked out. Overall though I love Brigid Kemmerer and her books so this was just as wonderful as the other one I've read.
If you love retellings, definitely check this one out. I really couldn't put it down!

It was okay at best. maybe 2 stars would be more accurate but I was enjoying the audio more than actually reading which never happens soooo..... there's that.
There were no real surprises. Everything was too easy and I figured it all out. Boom. That's how you know it wasn't that good, cause if I can figure it out early on then dude it's not the best because I suck at those type of things and this was easy.
The whole book was just easy. No real struggle. sure sure the character got the wind knocked out of her finding somethings out but honestly I think it would be more of a lightbulb coming on more for me than getting mad...I mean come on, or she was just clueless and didn't really pay attention? whatever.
There was ONE SMALL surprise for me but nothing life changing or exciting to even really going into depth about.
Everything was just so typical it made the book not really exciting to get to. It took me months to get through this book because it was just so mediocure for me. It was something to listen to when I was on long drives.
Overall I didn't have high expectations so it wasn't anything too disappointing for me. ...more
