Well, I didn't hate it. But I didn't love it either. There was just one aspect that just made the book flop for me.
[image]Merit who became a vampire without her consent is a character people would enjoy the one thing I hated though was her constant horn-i-ness for Mr. Supernatural Leader over [image]there and I rolled my eyes whenever that was brought up. ew. gag. The whole sexual tension is so thick you can practically see it in the air between her and Mr. Man over there. I was sitting here thinking, "okay. I get it. enough..I said enough already!" I don't like being constantly reminded about how you have the hots for the guy and sit there and whine about it the whole time either. Merit is likable but there is nothing new about her. Nothing that sets her apart from the twenty other urban fantasy leading ladies out there. I was just bored for the most part.
[image]Alright Mr. Supernatural Man named Ethan. He is the leader. Thinks he can get what he wants. Well, why not, that's how it's been of hundreds of years why wouldn't it think things would change. I liked him but didn't love him. Another character that was new and moped when he didn't get what he wanted...AKA...Merit. He just wanted her to be the "cushion for his pushin'" if you know what I mean. ew. No real depth there. BORING!
I even put the book down for a while because I got bored with it. Again nothing really new. I did enjoy the world building, the extra supernaturals like, wizards/warlock, shapeshifter, witches etc. The houses which just seemed to me like different frat houses was kinda cool and I enjoyed the mystery behind the camper that was going around killing innocents. The book does leave you kinda wanting to know more but if the rest of the series is as sexually driven as this one I probably won't pick them up. I want a story.
Overall: it didn't completely suck but it for sure didn't wow me either.

Kasie West is seriously an auto-buy for me. I seriously am impressed by this author. I’ve read all but TWO of her books and I’ve given them ALL 4 or 5 stars. I’ve yet to be disappointed by her books, stories, or writing style. I just love them all! Which makes me nervous each time I pick up one of her books now…. let’s not focus on THAT, shall we!
In this story, we find ourselves with our main character Autumn, who finds herself locked in the library with no way to contact anyone after putting all her stuff and phone in a friends car. When she realizes she’s not alone, she starts to freak out especially when she realizes who is also stuck in the library. Dax Miller. She knows very little about Dax, only that he’s spent time in juvie for doing something terrible, and he’s a loner. Not exactly, someone, she feels safe with, but she just has to stick it out until her friends realize she’s not with them.
Autumn and Dax have to make the most of their situation, and eventually, they start to open up and share with each other, and they find that maybe their preconceived notions about each other aren’t entirely accurate.
I LOVED so many things about this book. I really liked how it took Dax a long time to thaw his icy self. I liked how Autumn suffers from anxiety and how she’s tried to be “normal” and hide it from everyone outside her family. I liked how even though Dax is dark and brooding, he isn’t a jerk or mean or cruel. He just keeps everyone at a distance for good reason too. So I like that it took him a good long while to thaw out and bring himself to care.
I love Autumn and how she is smart, nerdy, funny, sassy, and awkward. It adds so much to the realism of the age group and story. I just loved her.
Overall I loved everything about this book, the ups, and downs, the depth and cheeseiness of it all.

Vivian and total Trekkie and book blogger lives with her mom and works with her mom in a book store. Every book lover's dream right? well after a heartbreaking brush-off from a long-time crush whom she's been having a summer affair with. Viv decides to come up with a plan to turn her attention to a replacement crush by finding perfectly safe crushes to help move on. I like Vivian, she's smart, a nerd, kind and not a total brat which I so appreciate in a female character. She's easy to connect with and even though I may have rolled my eyes a bit she was still an overall good character. Enter equally nerdy but HOT new guy Dallas. Sorry when I pictured his character I couldn't help but think of Dylan, I mean he's was just so perfect for what I pictured! totally Cute. Everything about him was pure awesome-sauce. His antics will make you chuckle-which is a huge deal for me-he's funny, sweet, and a all around good guy! I absolutely love him and think he is realistic which is so important for young readers when it comes to a swoon worthy male character! The story was just full of cute and fun stuff with some total nerdy things that will make any one want to binge watching after reading this book.
Overall: It's a fun contemporary read especially of fans of Kasie West which I am so yes, pick this book up! Totally worth it!

However this is a trilogy I've loved since the beginning and have read every book the moment I could get my hands on it. I've ordered the first and last book off of BookDepository.com because it wasn't on Amazon yet so I had to wait a little long to get this 3rd book and it was well worth the wait.
If you haven't read book one or two well now you can just plow right through all three and trust me, you'll love every book! AH!
This series is one of the FEW contemporary books I REALLY enjoyed, usually I'll stick to fantasy or paranormal or dystopian but this somehow caught my attention and I've wanted it since I heard about it. BOOM! I know I'm rambling but this is me telling you how good it is.
[image]I love the world building and the families and the history behind it all, I loved the twists and turns of the story even though the ending was and was not surprising. However I'm still very pleased with the ending and how it's all played out.
The character development was fantastic! You've got innocent Sophie who's life has been turned upside down and she's lost, angry, confused, hurt, sad and so it's been so fun to watch her change and grow slowly which I so appreciate. Same with Luca....well he mostly stayed the same which I appreciate because guys just don't change overnight...trust me, I'm married haha Nic you see him as one way in book one and watch him change and your opinion change through out the trilogy same with Valentino and other side characters.
There is still plenty of humor and romance to go around that lightens this dark tale of revenge and mafia history between families...is it really like that? yikes!
Overall: This was a GREAT ending to the trilogy, I don't think I really have any complaints! I can't wait to see what more this author has up her sleeve!

I have no idea how I finished this book or why I finished it, I’m just going to throw that out there.
This book is full of angry, ANGRY people who have WAAAAY too much power and who enjoy waaaaay too much drama, who all need help. seriously. LOTS of therapy.
I do not like books where teens have way to much power of people especially their own parents. These kids have way too much power and money that enjoy pain and destruction who use their money to destroy people and things in a way to make themselves feel better or just to feel at all.
A whoreish mother who lied to her daughter all her life has decided to move in with her rich boyfriend. Rich boyfriend has two sons who are on destruct-o mode and hates anybody and everybody they don’t deem worthy of their attention.
Girl shows some awful disrespect and they praise and accept her for it. Then imagine lots of sexual tension that finally builds till it explodes and creates sex scenes that are SO NOT REAL! NOBODY CAN last that long or do it that many times unless they are taking some sort of sex pill. Gross.
Overall this book was just awful and I won’t be continuing with the series. Kids should NOT have this much power over people.

Isis is a girl moved toReread: 2020
I am beyond glad Goodreads recommended this book to me. This book was so much fun to read and oh man that ending!!!
Isis is a girl moved to a new town which means a new high school. At a party one night she sees Jack work his horrible self on someone and she felt the need to stand up for them. Well Isis and Jack have just met each other’s match. Her way of staking her claim of a boy- hating-self-proclaimed-bad-girl; was to literally punch Jack in the face. BOOM. And there it begins.
At first I wasn’t sure if I was going to like Isis but she totally grew on me. Sure she has some issues but man I loved her sassy-sarcastic self! She used to be fat so she has stretch marks, her thighs jiggle and she calls herself ugly. But she has accepted who she is and has accepted the fact that she thinks she’s ugly. However I can understand how she would think she was ugly and never again would want to be touched by a man. After being bullied and tricked she has decided to completely change herself and who she use to be so she will never ever have to experience that again. Sadly that includes never falling in love…again.
Jack has issues of his own, I liked him. Sure, was he an absolute jerk? yes. did he need to be? no. Is he perfect? no. Did I have issues with him? sure! But overall, his jerk-y-ness was his defense wall. He is tired of being treated and fawned, and even pawed at all the time from women. So to keep them away he treats them badly by using their weaknesses and insecurities against them. Horrible right? But I found him and his interaction with Isis intriguing so I kept going.
One of my biggest problems I have with his story? His chosen “secret” life he has outside of high school. Do I understand? sure, doesn’t mean I have to agree with the author’s choice of lifestyle. Just throwing that out there.
But what made this book so worth the read was the action going on between both Jack and Isis and how they went about each other. I absolutely loved the funny side of Isis that wasn’t there at first but slowly built over time with the story till by the time I finished the book I was chuckling out loud and smiling! I love books that can make me do that! Plus that crazy cliffhanger and the fact that I am absolutely DYING to get my hands on book two!!! AAAHHH! I can’t wait!
So Overall I enjoyed it, I did have some issues with it, but overall I really enjoyed it.

Don’t ask me why, II read her The Wall of Winnipeg and Me and loved it. So I picked up this one in hopes that it would be just as good.

Nuh uh.
Don’t ask me why, I don’t know why, but, I somehow finished it. Maybe because they hadn’t come together and I was already that far into it but there were a lot of things that bothered me and disappointed me in this one.
First of all, I don’t like the “I’m going to treat you like crap because I like you” mentality. I don’t like the, “it’s ok if I talk to you like crap because I don’t really mean it so it’s okay” problem. And that is what this book was. UGH! I hated it. There is a huge difference in moody or broody male characters but I hate “mean experienced” guys and the girls all young “sweet and innocent” and allow themselves to be treated horribly but fall for them anyway because he happens to be gorgeous. eww. grow some respect for yourself woman!
And that’s another thing. If I have to read ONE MORE TIME how beautiful you think he is I was going to break. his. face. GAH!
Moving on…
So big, older biker/tattoo artist guy has a shop and a “nice biker gang” and does one of his member/friends a favor and hires his very much younger sister to help run his tattoo shop. Enter sweet, innocent, young opposite female character.
Big mean biker guy likes her, treats her like crap but falls for her anyway and eventually takes away her innocence and she allows him to talk to her horribly..oh sorry back on that track. okay, so you get the gist. This just isn’t my thing.
Overall…I didn’t like it. that’s it and somehow for some reason, I finished it anyway.

I really enjoyed another one of this author’s books and absolutely hated another book she wrote so I wanted to give this one a try. It took a good quarter of the book for me to finally get invested in the characters and the story. I just couldn’t connect or feel it all at first, it eventually came and I ended up really enjoying it!
Sal is an amazing soccer player who is willing to do anything for the team. When her childhood crush/soccer dream guy/favorite player who is supposed to have been retired joins her team as a coach, she is but isn’t thrilled. He is moody and completely ignores the team. She also has reason to really dislike him as he and her other star soccer player brother had a major incident that caused headlines.
She doesn’t like confrontation which at times bothered me because I don’t think she should’ve let some things go. However there are many things I did like about her, she’s strong and stubborn at times, she’s caring and fame hasn’t gone to her head. She does what she feels is necessary to keep the peace.
Reiner Kulti had it all and has nothing to really show for it. He is alone and in many ways depressed. However, he has a passion for soccer and then Sal is there when nobody else is. He has nobody. He is drawn to Sal because of her talent and frustrates him knowing she could be so much more.
I liked him but boy he did need help and felt Sal helped him in ways that many books don’t show. You don’t need sex to help someone. She challenged him in the sport and in many ways that made him really have to think, move and change. I appreciated that a lot.
What I really appreciate a lot about this book and The Wall of Winnipeg and Me is the very slow process in these books. This is a very slow burn, it shows a slow change of hearts and growth and character development. That leaves a lot of room for an actual storyline and plot instead of, “Oh, I think you’re hot and you have problems but let’s have sex and it will all get better.” no, this actually has a good plot and lots of time given to grow feelings and what-not.
Overall I really liked it. It took a bit for me to get into it at first and then I couldn’t put it down.

I remember loving it! This time around I enjoyed it but I don't think I enjoyed it as much as I did before.
I love a slow burn and Zapata is the Queen of slow burns. I so appreciate them because I love the angst and the actual real watch of change between 2 characters.
This was my first ever Mariana Zapata book. Since then I've read many more and still look to when she comes out with more books. I love them.
This was a cute sweet book just like many of her other ones. If you're looking for LOW spice and a nice slow burn with likable characters then you'll like this cute contemporary romance.
This horrible story starts out with a girl who decides that becauseReview found at: www.awesomebooknut.com
Where do I begin with this story???? GAG ME!
This horrible story starts out with a girl who decides that because of something that happened to her in the past that she needs to “live life?” uh no… “not be wasted?” that’s better… “be used?” yes, that’s it. She pretty much is a bit of a sleazy and sleeps with some guy that is horrible to her just to have sex so she can be “used” and is her body is used but it’s not even sex it’s a wam-bam-thank-you-mam type of a relationship that ends up with them and two other acquaintances on a deadly bridge with a train coming hoping to do it on the tracks before the train comes and an officer catches them before anything can really begin and pretty much saves them.
Then this stupid Meg person faints…A LOT over something that may be considered traumatic but not to the point that it would cause such a reaction. stupid.
I didn’t care for Meg I really hated how she portrayed herself and felt “justified” in her “healing” process. Nope, nobody should be allowed to act the way she did and treat her parents the way she did.
Entered Popo John with the weirdest last name. Who for some strange reason finds her rs_634x1024-140717121938-634.castro3.cm.71714interesting and attractive and who has to stay with her for the whole week as part of her penance. She as part of her “punishment” has to go on a ride-a-long with an officer to see what it’s like and see where her road will lead if she continues down the path she is. Somehow they strike a friendship that quickly turns to attraction that somehow turns to lust which is portrayed as love and somehow things work out and he’s the good guy who helps her see the light and she helps him with his problems because what’s a story without both people having ridiculous issues?
Overall I didn’t care for the book, the problems were portrayed not well.

I LOVE the Pride and Prejudice type books and when they are constantly thrown together for whatever reason they starts to see each other for what they really are and their hate for one another grows softer and love takes it's place. Seriously the best. Which is why I enjoyed Act Like It and this one!
This book is about a TV actress named Lily who wants out of her current show. She's tired of playing the hoe-bag stealing all the guys and playing those uncomfortable sex scenes. So when she gets the opportunity of a life time to get out and play a different role on the stage, she jumps at the chance! Even if it means dealing with the formidable director Luc Savage.
Luc Savage has years of experiance and knows exactly what he wants and how to get it even if he has to be mean. I loved his character because he was completely honest. When someone asked him a question he answered, honestly. Usually in books to cause more issues for the characters and the reader there is a lack of communications which is the problem in all chick flick movies and books... you just want to scream, "JUST TELL THEM THE TRUTH!" or "JUST TALK TO THEM!" you know what I mean? But I had a huge respect for the author making everything "realistic" in that sense and that this guy was so brutally honest. I loved it.
[image]I really enjoyed the humor in this book and it helps you connect and enjoy the book. I love it when a book can make me outwardly smile, laugh or cry. And this book definitely made me smile. It was just overall fun.
I wish there was a bit MORE. It was such a short book I just wanted a bit more. As much as this was enjoyable I didn't like it as much as the first and I honestly can't pinpoint what it is that makes it so for me. Overall I think it's a fun chick-flick book and totally plan to read anything this author puts out but for some reason it was "too quick" there was something there that just didn't quite reach the top for me. Even though I'm not sure what that is.
