And nobody hate me buuuuuut The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue was a book I enjoyed, truly. Overall. It just wasn’t without its flaws. V.E. Schwab’s writing is undeniably beautiful and evocative, painting vivid scenes and capturing emotions with elegance. However, the plot became quite repetitive after a while. While the repetition seemed intended to underscore Addie’s torment of being forgotten, it eventually started to wear thin and left me feeling a bit bored.
Addie herself didn’t seem to evolve much throughout the story, which made it challenging to stay fully engaged with her journey. I found myself wishing for more growth or change in her character. Henry, while endearing in his own way, felt somewhat bland and struggled with a similar self-centeredness as Addie. This made it difficult for me to connect with him or see him as a dynamic character.
On a more positive note, I appreciated Schwab’s unique take on the theme of wish fulfillment. Rather than starting with a sense of freedom before revealing the curse, the novel presents the wish as a curse from the beginning, which added an interesting layer to the story.
Luc, the dark and charming god of the story, was a standout character for me. I found myself rooting for him more than for Henry, enjoying the complexity and intrigue he brought to the narrative.
Overall, while The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue has its merits, including its lyrical prose and fresh approach to wishes and curses, the repetitive plot and static character development kept it from being a more compelling read for me.

I will say that I appreciate the author not making these guys "good mafia" guys. Nope they are straight up BAD DUDES. The author just makes the villains worse so you end up rooting for the better option. haha

I can't give too much away as it will spoil it. But it's a romcom Dexter type story and it was too cute!
The smut scenes were not my cup of tea but everything before that was great. These 2 were hilarious and I loved the overall idea of the story.
I just have one question. HOW DO THEY GET AWAY WITH IT????

what was that? I literally didn't read what it was about or how long it was. Where I just finished a grueling long Dramione this was nothing but 70 pawhat was that? Where I just finished a grueling long Dramione this was nothing but 70 pages? it literally was just a bunch of smutty scenes of Draco and Hermione and this TINY storyline of "keeping it casual" while "falling in love"
there was like NOOOOOO storyline. Just smut scenes. haha so if that's your thing, this is for you. It's not for me, I like storylines with a subplot of romance.

It was a cute easy read. Was it amazing? no. It was a typical romance book. Was it a real hate-to-love? No. I'll keep this short and sweet and simple.

Did Rhett not like Summer at first? yes for all of about 2 hours and then couldn't get over how her butt looks.
These are cowboy gentlemen so I didn't see any real "hate" going on.
I wanted to see more Winter and explore that (however I do realize that she will have her own story).
I am really excited to read Cade's story because he seems like a REAL grump.

I've had this on my iPad for a while to read but figured it was just smut and I am someone who prefers plot driven stories. Then a TikTok friend started really talking about this book so I picked it up.
I appreciate the slow burn and the fact that there wasn't smut right off the bat at page 20 and it took a loooong time to get there.
I appreciated that this legit was a real slow burn with a more realistic hate-to-love type story.
I appreciate this wasn't some "grey" character. Nope the MMC is straight up mafia doing bad stuff and isn't "it's not what it seems" type mafia stuff.
I appreciate that I was pleasantly surprised that the twists and turns weren't at all what I expected.

What kept me going was the new side characters that were brought into the story for that last 1/3 of the book and I liked what the author did with them. I would love to read the story of Blaise and who the author paired him up with.
I really felt like this was well written overall I just got bored with Malfoy and his pining after they got together and them together just got boring after a while and I was more interested in other aspects.
Overall I see why people liked it!

So I need to accept that this is someone else's variation to the original. However, my biggest beef is that the two main characters Hermione and Draco were so different from the original that it just annoyed me in some ways.
Hermione was this simpering shy girl unless really riled up then the feisty girl came out but most of the time she was this quiet secret in love crush with Draco girl... like whaaaaat???? Where was the smart know-it-all? where was the snarky sarcastic girl who had so much wit and smart-aleck remarks? instead I got... this... weird obsessive quiet version and I didn't like it.
I finished and it was still enjoyable enough for me to finish AND give it 3 stars instead of less. It's a Dramione fanfic what can I say! I'm obsessed but nothing beats the first 3 books I read based off the Dramione troupe.
Overall it wasn't horrible, the change in character personality bothered me but when I separated it from the Dramione troupe it wasn't bad.

If you're into the "toxic relationship" troupe you'll like this one then. I literally have no clue what I am picking up other than it's Dramione fanfic so therefore I am in for a good enemies to lovers.
This one has that toxic/trauma/healing/changing people troupe that is not healthy and at times disturbing.
Hermione is traumatized after the war and can't seem to move on. Draco is a messed up person with more to him than meets the eye. They hate each other but there is an underline attraction there that causes them to be magnetized to the other, and causes them to make bad choices and yet a way for them to heal (in an unrealistic way- they all need therapy in this book in my opinion haha).
Overall I still couldn't put it down it was interesting and I enjoyed many things about it.

First off this book is NOT for everyone. I do not like dark romance, it's not for me. There were many times I thought I'd put it down. This book is extremely heavy and very very dark. And while I wanted to put it down, the author wrote this so well that she would say just the right amount of small hints that kept me going.... if that even makes sense.
It's been a long time since a book has put me through such an emotional roller coaster.
I read the Handmaid's Tale and HATED it. I have no desire to watch the show. I had no idea this was a Handmaid's tale/Harry Potter Alternate Universe type book. seriously I had no idea. Because of that whole Handmaid's thing I felt sick and wanted to DNF it but again, it was those small hints that had me wanting to know more.
Man...this book destroyed me... I loved it for how it made me feel. Even throughout all the endings I was still worried how it would end. And when it did. I was satisfied. I was exhausted.
