Anna + Eric
Des Moines, Iowa. Anna and Eric live in the same building. It's kind of insta attraction on both sides. But when Eric joins Anna's book club and insults her favorite book, she insta hates him. Not really, she's still super interested, but why? Why must he be so annoying!? LOL!
══════════════════
[image]
Adorable! I love that we get two completely 'average' twentysomethings here. Anna works in the office of a Bouldering Gym thing. And Eric is opening his own cool-slogans-T-Shirts shop. Well, okay, he's also kinda a rich boy who is just living his dream for a bit until he has to take over the family business! Lol. I loved how adorable Eric 'courts' Anna. But I hated how awful she was most of the time. Why is she so effing weird about the book? So what if he doesn't like it - she doesn't have to break his heart and break up with him over it. Right? I kinda hated her the first half of the book. It got so much better when they meet again three years later. But also. Why? Why is she suddenly all grown up? It felt a bit weird. I know this book used to be a short story and it was made into a full length novel. But I still felt that a lot of things were missing. Not really sure what... but ... things. I needed more of lots of everything. It felt so randomly thrown together at times. Weird. No idea what I'm talking about. LOL! I still liked reading it. I loved Eric. He was great and sweet and smart and all the things. But he was also a bit immature in how he dealt with things. But still. It was an adorable romance that might have needed a bit more time and editing and adding and taking out-ing. Just like Anna's favorite book.
RIGHT GUY, WRONG WORD was an adorable love story. Sweet. Funny. Booky. A bit heartbreaking. Second-Chancy. READ IT!

Indy, Zinny and Aster were just planning on spending a fun Bachelorette weekend in the Maryland casino city Slots. But they don't even make it out of the airport before they get kidnapped by this hot guy and his buddies. Hot guy Leto is just trying to save his idiot gambling addict brother's life. Leto is supposed to bring the three legendary Lady Mafia ladies to the mafia boss guy his brother owes money to. But unfortunately the real ladies never showed and now he has to make do with these three crazy chicks. One of which is just his type. Damn. But also ... things might not be as they seem ... and everything will get even more complicated and dangerous ....
Let the fun times begin...
══════════════════
[image] [image]
Adorable!
That was a fun book. Funny and fast and crazy and criminal and sparky and sexy .... it was a great little story. You immediately like Leto. And then Indy comes along and they're just so adorable together. Super insta attraction on both sides - but she's his hostage and he's a criminal, right? We don't really know what's what in the beginning. LOL!
I really enjoyed reading this. But I'm also not a mafia romance fan at all. This was not really mafia, but everyone is kind of a criminal. So that's not my thing at all. And I wish we would've gotten 100 more pages - lots of things seemed rushed and weird. I liked reading this. I had to read it - it's a Debra Anastasia book - but it's not my genre or it just wasn't my day for this book. Even though I liked it. But I didn't love it. Didn't feel it at all somehow - at least parts of it. Oh - maybe it was because the book didn't know if it was supposed to be a rom-com, a comedy, a mafia story, a mafia romance, a suspensy thriller, or a sisterhood women's fiction thing. Maybe a rom-com-only thing would've been the best choice. For me! Others will just love this kind of mafia thing! So don't mind me - I really enjoyed reading it - it just wasn't my kind of genre mix.
Oh, and if you're extremely weird like I am - and if you want to get to know ALL of Debra's people - many of whom are in here - I would suggest you should at least read Mercy, Havoc + Lock - and everything else too obvs!
LADY MAFIA was a fun and crazy and mafia-ish suspensy rom-com kinda thing! Run to your nearest book dealer for your own Leto - this one is mine!! And do we pronounce him like Jared? Leddoh? Or Leetoe?

We all remember Chloé's dads from their own trilogy. And yes, I said dads. And not only two dads. Three! Now Chloé is finally old enough to know what she wants. And she wants to go to a private sex club for her 19th birthday. The dads can't know obviously. She's immediately fascinated by the two owners of the club. Long time couple Ethan and Zayne. And those two are just as fascinated by that beautiful innocent girl.

I loved Chloe's dads books so I just had to read this. It sounded so good. Chloe with two guys. Just my thing. But what is not my thing is the whole sex club part. And even worse: the whole Dom thing. Ew. #ConstantCringe So I almost stopped reading in the very beginning. But I kept on going... And it got better. I still HATED the whole sumbissive part, the whole Power thing and the SIR and kneeling and all that cringey talk. And I didn't like that Chloé is only just 19 - that's too young! But it was also cute and sweet and sparky and porny and a bit heartbreaking with the guys' pasts and families. I also hate that we have to wait for three books. Why? One slightly longer one would've been enough. I hate waiting - it's horrible with my book alzheimers! I'm not sure if I'm going to read the next two books. But I think I will. I'll just fast forward through all the dom stuff. I want to know how the dads will deal with everything! LOL!
It's not the book's fault that I hate that porny genre. I love Ella's Chicago world and I'm pretty sure that this will end up being a very cute and sexy trilogy.
CONFESSIONS: ETHAN was a great start in this verry sexy and cute MMF romance trilogy spin-off! READ IT!

Lilian is almost 40. She's an obituary writer for the L.A. Times. She has a very teenaged son and very possibly a very cheating husband. Safe to say she's not really happy with her life at the moment. Then she meets David. And she doesn't know what happened in her brain in that moment, but she insta-invents a completely new person. And things are good for a while. She feels like a new woman. But then things start to spin out of control and suddenly it's all worse than it was before....

Well. I'm not sure if I loved this book or not. I definitely liked reading it. It was interesting and mysterious and other things... LOL - you can't stop reading, because you just have to know how it all ends. But I was never really sure if I liked Lillian or any of the other people. It was all a bit weird. Especially when you're used to reading cute romances and real thrillers with one hero-type person. So I wasn't really sure about things here. But I really liked reading it. The story is not taking you where you thought things were going in the very beginning. It was really interesting. But I also kinda wanted more of everything. Maybe a bit more epilogue and more details about people ... or just more scenes. It was all a bit short ... no idea. But I liked it. I LOVE the cover - and I would definitely watch the Netflix show!
So in conclusion: A FAMILIAR STRANGER was a very interesting and mysterious and slightly weird novel. ...more

Lucy has been pretty sad and lonely since her dad died months ago. She works at a nonprofit Ocean rescue place and only has one friend - who's working in London. She dreams of falling for prince charming like the girls in her beloved romance novels. Then she meets Casziel. Well, it wasn't the meet cute she was hoping for. And he's probably kinda the opposite of a prince charming. But he needs her help.

Kassen's prologue scares us a tiny little bit. LOL. Then Gemma starts to tell us about herself in chapter one. She's 26 years old, lives in a pretty little lavender-painted house in Michigan and she makes her money being a pretty famous professional climber. The more dangerous or off the beaten path - the more she loves the climb. That's why she's on her way to Kentucky now - there's a boulder to be climbed - adventures to be had. But by the very scary or rather mysterious prophecy-ish last lines in the first chapter - we know that she's not getting the adventure she's expecting. Nope. She'll get Kassen. And what that will mean for her and for the reader? We have no idea. Yet. LOL!

We all remember the amazingly shocking cliffy with which book #1 ended!!!
Is Edward really serious?
Celia doesn't know, but she's a little scared. Or a lottle.
But she's also still so very attracted to him. The bastard. She hates him! LOL!
We spend a LOT of time on Edward's island in the Caribbean this time. Basically it's the only place we get to see. Celia is alone most of the time - which is part of Edward's plan to ... ☺
I have no idea where this story is going. I just hope we'll get that happy end at the end of book #4, but I have NO idea how we'll get there! ☺
I really loved reading this. It was a bit ... slower? Creepier than last time.
It was also sexy, sparky, crazy, frustrating & heartbreaking. I love Edward and Celia. I love them together. Even though Edward has all these weird ideas for her. But I really hope I'm right in thinking that he has a plan for her - and not a bad one!!!
And this time we don't really end in a cliffy - or if it is one, then it's one we can definitely live with until the next book comes out! I can't wait for book #3 to land on my kindle - even though I'm not really sure why there have to be four books!!!!??? I'm not really a fan of book series. Only when all books are already out! I'm really bad remembering things with my booksalzheimers!
SLAY TWO: RUIN was a great 2nd book in this crazy & sexy quartet! I can't wait to see where Celia and Edward will take us in the next books! Hurry to your nearest amazon asap - Edward will be sold out in no time!!!

OK guys - I will put my whole review in a spoiler thingy - not because I'm spoiling anything (much), but because I'm kinda mean and weird about the book. I don't want to offend anyone or stop anyone from reading and loving the book. So ... please don't read my review if you want to enjoy the book or if you don't like people who complain a lot or if you're the author or ... better yet ... just don't read my review at all! ☺ I'm weird with so many things. Things I hate and dislike ... BUY THE BOOK AND READ IT - make up your own mind! I'm just here to tell you guys → MY VERY OWN HONEST OPINION. ☺♥
Ok - my little summary is ok to post without the spoiler thingy:
Jayden is a famous romance author. But ever since he left his cheating wife six months ago, he hasn't been able to write one word. He's suffering from writer's block - plus ... he's been busy screwing and drinking himself around town.
But now he met this perfect woman on a plane. She's inspired him from the second he first saw her.
Bla bla - some interesting but not at all surprising events later - Jayden and Carrie are in Paris to do some research for a new book idea they came up with.
And while researching romance in the most romantic city ever ... they fall for each other..... But of course his ex is not done with him and Carrie's family and past relationships might become problems too ...

Well, that was kinda adorable. A sweet mix of rom-com, second-chance, finding yourself again, travel & writing love story. I liked the idea of the book. The idea of this cheated-on author and the cute girl spending time in Paris. But (view spoiler)[ the problem I had with this book started on page one. Page one is a very short page, but I still found THREE things that bothered me. I'm not going to tell you about all of them ... it would take too long - just know that one has to do with my AS problem. Readers of my reviews know that I HATE THE AS! The ones that are not used to compare things like as big as .. but the ones that should be a since or a because or just a pausing - or ; (I couldn't pick you up from school, AS I was busy being a serial killer!) Well - I hate that. It's a british/legal/official kind of thing, and I can live with the british hero of this book saying it - even though he does it way too much. But all characters use it, because the author uses it. Not her characters. And I hate that. I also know that Monica is from Australia, so I can totally understand her using it. But I still hate it! The book is supposed to be american - at least most characters are. I don't know why it bothers me so much, but I hate it. Once I see the first AS in a book I want to throw it out the next window, but I always give it a little more time - hoping that it was just a little one/two-time accident. But just like all of Sawyer Bennett's books, this first one I ever read by Monica, was sooo full of those horrible AS's too - I couldn't enjoy this book the way I was hoping to. I skimmed a lot of it.
And don't think the writing was the only thing bothering me about this book - nope - there's this little other thing that bothered me ... the horrible hero! OK, to be fair - I kinda liked him. He's been cheated on by the love of his life. I can understand how he had to blow off some steam in the months following, BUT... those months didn't have to be more than 30% of this book!!!! This book where we want him to find his happily ever after with Carrie!! Ew. Just ew! He was such a disgusting slut the whole first third of the book. That was almost the 2nd reason I was about to throw the book out of the next window. Thank the stars above I was reading in the basement TV room today! I can't afford a new kindle! ☺
I kept going and it got better. Once we're in Paris it gets adorable and french and writer-y and cute and sexy. But then there are some weird moments again later on with the ex and Carrie's secret. Ugh.
Oy, another few things I just remembered ... I even googled them, to make sure I wasn't completely wrong ... but I wasn't ... the author didn't do her research properly. I can only remember two things right now. One was that Jayden mentions - multiple times - that he's used to even colder weather than Paris and New England - because he's from London. HA!!! London is wet and yeah it can be cold, but not colder than Paris and New England in the middle of winter. Jeez. The 2nd thing is the orange butterfly flying around Paris at the end of december? In snowy Paris? Nope. They die in the cold - or they sleep, but they don't fly around a park. Another thing had to do with Whiskey but I can't for the life of me remember what it was ... oh and also the topless sunbathing in that country they're vacationing in? Nope. Verboten in that country! You'll go to jail and never come out if you're caught! ☺ (hide spoiler)]
It wasn't a bad book - not that anyone can tell from my rant ^^^ - but please give it a chance - you should btw. always do that - even after you read one of my reviews. Because I know I'm very weird with what I like and hate! ☺ I liked this book and I liked the characters - especially the agent! He's hilarious! It just wasn't my day for this kind of story/writing/characters/research. The cover is pretty and the blurb sounded cute too - I would definitely watch it if it turned up on my Netflix one day!!!

Well. I loved it. Surprisingly. Because I also hated parts of it. I don't even know why I started it. I don't like it when either the hero or heroine are sick. And I hate it when a guy is more than eight years older than the girl and here we have a FIFTEEN year age difference!!!! Plus he's a medical professional who should know better - especially because of his family history. BUT ... I also really liked the story. I loved Simon and Willow and I loved their love story. It's all a bit taboo and weird and silly and waaay too Harry Potterish for my tastes, and what's with the mother? At first she's the best friend and all cool and worried and then she's not in our life anymore? But I really enjoyed reading it - it was sweet and sexy and rainy and full of hope ... - I will definitely read Renn and Vi's stories too!
I'm not really sure what to say about this book. I love Michelle's books, but this one was ... yeah - it said ROMANTIC SUSPENSE WITH A TWIST. And I don' I'm not really sure what to say about this book. I love Michelle's books, but this one was ... yeah - it said ROMANTIC SUSPENSE WITH A TWIST. And I don't mind twists, but this story was a bit too heart-less for my tastes. I didn't feel the connection between Noah and Poppy. I wanted more of ... everything. I get that it had to be a bit mysteriously vague at the beginning, but still ... I expected more. I just didn't love the story. It was ok. There were good parts. Noah was cool. A sad and sexy hero with a heartbreaking past. The story was mysterious, exciting, sexy, fun. But also weird and sad and ridiculous and ... not my book. Sorry. But still 4 stars - it was an ok story. The twist was a surprise and kept me reading,

even though I wanted to throw the kindle out the window because I didn't like it at all ... I know I'm weird! ☺ Try it - maybe it's your kind of book!!!
Also - another tiny little thing that bothers me extremely. I hate religion. Everything religious. And I hate it when authors thank god for whatever - for giving them their writing talent or something. Ugh. Do not put that in your books. Or put them in the christian romance genre. I don't want to see that.

I'm not really sure what to say about this book. The cover is beautiful. Our hero Cullen is hot and mysterious and lonely and sweet and interesting. Wynn is ok. I didn't really love-love her. She was a bit weird. It was good seeing all the others again. The Vegas moments were great. Money, Poker, Shopping. It could've been an amazing story. But it wasn't ... for me at least. The beginning already confused me SO much. I just didn't understand the storyline at all. I liked the very beginning - her date dragging her to that game - all fan-boy-ish. And then Katy lost me. I guess I understand that Wynn was won by Cullen and I could also understand that she stayed instead of running away because he's a hot and mysterious guy. But then I lost all sense of the story. The bet/dare? They know each other but didn't realize it? It all didn't make any sense to me. I just didn't get it. Which is a little bit the fault of the writing. I felt like there were sentences that didn't have meaning. Nobody asked a question or said something and then there was just a sentence that didn't make sense. It was so very weird - I can't really explain it. There were many weird things in here. Too many repetitions. Like talking about his amazing eyes and how she can't love a gambler. Like the poker game - we're playing Texas Hold'em. And he explains to her how and why she has to give back cards and ask for new ones??? What??? You only get two cards in that game! And anyway. I felt that another - GOOD - editor should've gone through this book again to take out all the weird sentences that didn't make sense and maybe use a few of the adorable feelings that were too much at the end and put them in somewhere else throughout the book. Don't get me wrong - I love Katy Evans and her books, and I liked this book in a way. Mostly because of the cover, the hero and the characters from previous books, the Vegas excitement. And the adorableness towards the end. It was fun and sexy and Vegasy. BUT it just wasn't my story. There was just too much that didn't work for me. I hope Katy's next one will be better!

Ok ... I'm a bit ... confused/sad/torn/something ... about this book and this review. I was so looking forward to this story. And book-alzheimer sufferer that I am, I couldn't remember that Jaxson would be the hero of this story. So when Simon appeared, I thought he was gonna be the hero and then he goes and does stupid stuff. The most stupid stuff ever. I almost stopped reading several times in the first 25% of the book. The very beginning of the story was already confusing for me. Sadie talks and thinks a lot of confusing stuff in the beginning and then the whole 12-step alcoholics anonymous stuff. I hate religion and I don't understand why addicts need God to get better? Why??? I hated that part of the book. Then come all the other crimes and stupid moments that happen in the first 25%. Drinking. Driving while intoxicated. Fleeing from the scene of an accident. Stealing. Identity Theft. Unprotected sex with a stranger! Leaving the country pretending to be someone else. Keep on pretending to be that someone in another country and in the hotel. SO MUCH stuff. I really was THIS close to stop reading. BUT, I also wanted to read Jaxson's story. And Jaxson is mega adorable and sexy and talented. And once Sadie is really with him, I could tolerate her so much better. But the beginning of the book really hurt the story in my opinion. It should've been done a bit better. Especially the driving after drinking those cocktails? The whole book is about Sadie's dad and his drinking and how she doesn't want to end up like that, and then she goes and drives 'drunk'???? It all turns out totally ok in the end, but I didn't like a lot of moments in this book. BUT - when we forget about all the stupid stuff, this was a really great romance. Cute, very sexy, sunny, exciting, angsty. I really liked reading it once I got past all the weird moments! I really loved Jaxson ... And now I can't wait to read Finn's story!!! Even though I don't really like fighter romances! BUT, he's a nerdy fighter, so it might be really funny!
DON'T LET ME STOP YOU FROM ENJOYING THIS BOOK - I'm very weird when it comes to what I like and dislike in my books - READ IT - You'll love Jaxson and the vacation atmosphere and the mystery & excitement ...

I have to admit that I was a bit afraid after reading the warning in the blurb and after scrolling through a few reviews. BUT I was positively surprised. It wasn't as bad as some of these reviews made it out to be. Yes, it's not a real love story. It's a stalkerish, mega erotic ... thing. (view spoiler)[ And there might not be a Happy End - but there is kind of a happy end for both - somehow. One guy is happy with his new life and the other guy is happy being his stalker forever ever after! ☺ Maybe we'll hear more of them one day. (hide spoiler)] But I loved it. The characters are very interesting. One is a stalker who is still guilt-grieving for his long-dead boyfriend and the other one is an extremely innocent and naive little boy with an instant crush. But it works. They're adorable together. Even though it's all very weird and scary and over the top. And then there's this paranormal 'filter' over it all. It's not paranormal at all. BUT it could be. Wolfe could be a shapeshifter. The mood is very dark/rainy/sinister/dangerous. But we also have some funny moments. Verrrry erotic moments. Moving moments. Crazy moments. Sweet moments.
Don't be afraid to read it - it's different - but different is good, right? BE BRAVE! ☺☺☺

Isabella just barely survived an attack by her ex boyfriend 18 months ago. Now she's finally about to leave for college. Just one more thing to do before she goes: she wants to lose her virginity at this BDSM play party her cousin invited her to. She started being intrested in BDSM when she found some books at her cousin's place. And she feels that this is exactly what she's been missing in her life. Enter Tristan. He's about to leave town too. And he's also about to leave the party - nobody there interested him .... that's when he sees Isabella. Instant attraction on both sides! And after an amazingly sexy night together they think they'll never see each other again. Wrong! Isabella will be one of his students at his new job as a business professor! ☺ And if that wasn't bad enough - we have horribly mean and mentally ill exes that will definitely make this story very exciting! ☺
WHAT WILL HAPPEN WITH ISABELLA & TRISTAN? WILL WE GET AN HEA?? READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT ☺
This was an interesting book. I don't really know what to think of it. It starts as this kidnap and murder-suicide story and then it immediately turns into a BDSM story and then it turns into a forbidden professor/student romance - with BDSM. And then the kidnap murderer and more idiot people show up again. So, I don't really know what to call this book. Erotic suspense? It was a bit weird. It was all a bit much. Maybe if the book had been 150 pages longer! Then it could've been perfect. Room enough for lots of excitement, suspense, sex, fun!
I love sex in my books but this starts off with a huge BDSM scene - before we could even fall in love with the characters. We meet them, they meet each other and insta attraction. But the reader wants/needs a tiny little foreplay too. Ugh, I don't know. I liked Tristan and Isabella ....but I couldn't connect with them somehow. I'm not a fan of BDSM. Well, it's more that I don't care for it - all that flogging and domineering stuff is not for me. When Christian Grey did it it was ok. It was a sweet fairy tale. It had nothing really to do with BDSM. But suddenly every book needs BDSM. Why? I can totally understand Isabella's thoughts about it. With her kidnapping and almost dying, she wants to control who controls her. I totally get her. But I just don't like it much. This would've been a better story with only the kidnap-murder thing and the student/teacher romance. BUT - it wasn't bad!!! I liked it. I liked reading it. But it was weird. It took me forever to finish a page, there were so many words, and I didn't love those words somehow. I know I'm weird. Maybe I was just in a weird mood. I also have to say that I'm writing this now that I'm only 30% into the book ... but I have to already love a book by that time ... I might come back later and add to my review! Back now! Finished it last night, and it really got better. Well, maybe not better, but more interesting. Which is also not good, because there was just way too much excitement in the last third of the book! It's like the author thought - oooh I'll pick THIS and THAT and THIS too and put it all in the end of my book!
It was a bit much and it wasn't all needed. And then it was all too rushed at the end. Ugh. I know I'm very complainy here, but I really liked the book too. And will definitely read the next book too! Don't let me scare you away. The book really has lots of interesting parts! Just a tiny little bit too many for my tastes.☺

I don't even know what to say! I love Abbi's books and I was looking forward to finally reading these 2. But - jeez. At first I thought WTF??? Did Abbi write this when she was a 13-year old school-drop-out in the Alabama sticks? The language and writing is horrible! I know that some of it needs to be like that, because we are in a tiny town in Alabama, but it felt ... offensive somehow, to those people living there. They come across as stupid and naive and smallminded and whatnot. A good editor would've really helped here. Everything sounded reallllly weird. The heroine? Such a stupid little girl. She's 19, but acting and talking and dreaming like a 12 year old. And then the guy - there was some hope for something more, something better to come, for her and the reader - but once you read book #2 (view spoiler)[you know how that turns out... (hide spoiler)] Anyway. I didn't love this book at all. Yes, I cried and felt for them all, but it was just way too ridiculous and waaaay too exaggerated Southern.
And once in New York - it's not getting better - why did Abbi suddenly make Hale the bad guy? He was all along, but it was never hinted at at all. There was potential for him being the prince who saves her. But then bam - there's the 2nd guy - and surprise surprise - not telling what the surprise is - it would spoil too much - but bam - plot-twist-ish and ... gah - it was just waaaay too ridiculous.
But I'm glad I read these books. I'm hoping for more one day. Or maybe Abbi will put these two books PLUS a few more chapters into a real full-length book and make it all a bit more grown-up and not as ridiculous as it is now. Because the end??? Jeez!!!! Both parts of the end were horrible!
BUT - as Abbi fans you still want and need and have to read this. Especially the everything toward the end of book #2 ☻

He's not a New York business man. He wants to go back to his life as a Navy SEAL, just like his brothers. But in a private letter from his dad he reads that he has to man up and be there for the company AND for his little sister Chloe. She's in danger from dad's old friend-turned-enemy. Chloe. The girl never really felt like a sister. He's ten years older and he left for boarding school when she was only two. He only remembers the little girl who was so full of smiles for him whenever he came home for the holidays. And now here's this beautiful, grown woman, who needs his protection but doesn't want it! She only wants to go back home to Wyoming to take care of her horses.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO CHLOE & VAN? WILL WE GET A HAPPILY EVER AFTER?? READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT ☺

When I hear Navy SEAL - I come running - I just have to read those books! And this SEAL - or rather these three SEALs are pretty adorable! ....

BUT .... This book had the potential to be a great, interesting story - just what I like - a sexy romantic suspense. And I kind of liked parts of it. BUT - I just had way too many problems with the book to enjoy it. I almost DNF'd twice. I prefer books told from the first person POV. I don't HATE others, but I just prefer it. And this one was told in the 3rd. And in the first few pages alone I read the name Van a million times, which bothered me extremely - no idea why. Would not have happened with a first person POV! But that was only the beginning of my dislike for the book. But I got off to a 'great' start that way. ☺
It's the first time I've read this author. And I hate those moments when you find out that persons from books - or rather, from book #1 in a series, have been in other books before. In this case the sons of the 'bad' guy used to have a series - that's why they were all mentioned a few times. But, that's not really all that bad, it's not necessary for this story, but I still hate it. I need to read all books in the right order! Grrr.
Another thing, the title? Or rather the whole billionaire SEAL thing? Doesn't that sound like the cheapest and oldest grocery store dime romance? Or even a bad porn? When I chose to read the book, I saw the cover, liked it, (especially when I found out that this open-white-shirt scene actually happens!) and I loved that it was about SEALs, the title I could've done without. Or the weird situation Van finds himself in. The being-a-billionaire thing. The stepsister thing. Ok, I kind of hated the idea of the story too. Sorry. I would've loved it more without the step-sibling thing and without the NYC billionaire thing. The story should've happened in Wyoming. NYC was so not fitting for anything in this story.
And now to the worst part of this book. REPETITION! OMG Jackie! No offense, but did you not send this book to your editor to go over and cut unnecessary stuff out????? Every single fact and thought and event gets repeated numerous times. I almost stopped reading during the first few chapters because it hurt my brain!
So, while this was a nice story, with 3 potentially great SEALs, and a bit of suspense and some sexiness, the writing and editing was horrible. I tried reading all of it, but in the end - or rather - from around the 20% mark on, I mostly only read when people talked to each other. I'm not sure if I'll read the 2nd book, but I'm kind of interested to see what Lucas and then later Wolf will have to deal with.
I'm sorry I don't have anything better to say - it could totally just be my personal taste - I know I'm weird with many things about books, but I'm always honest in my reviews, so ... sorry. But this one wasn't my kind of SEAL book :/
THE DANGEROUS BILLIONAIRE was pretty adorable & sexy & suspensy romance! There was room for more ... but I don't want to stop you from enjoying it - try it - run to your nearest amazon for your own Van!!

Everybody needs to decide if they want to read this book. I read it. It was ok. I kept reading because I wanted to see how it would end, but now that I'm done, I'm kinda disappointed. I hate books with no romance... (view spoiler)[and no happy end. (hide spoiler)] The different POVs will confuse many readers. I don't know if the writing with Calia's books is always like that, or if it's Selah's way of telling the story, but I had the feeling that a good editor would've made things a bit better! The only character I felt sorry for in the end was Noah. But I'm also happy for him - he can now go look for his happily ever after elsewhere! ☺ It was a weird book with weird chapters and weird people and a very weird mood all through it. Now I'm not sure if I will ever read Unravel ☺ But please, don't be scared - READ IT if you're not afraid of something a bit different - and weird. ☺

Francesca used to be in love with Mack.
That was 8 years ago, when they were both in college in Boston. She met him when she moved in with him and his room mate Moses. Mack, with the looks of a supermodel, and Francesca with her OCD and shyness - opposites attract and all that - they became instant friends. Both mega-intrigued by the other. But nothing ever happened because Mack was dating Torrie back home in D.C. - the girl his political parents wanted him to marry.
Fast forward to present time Boston. Francesca is working as a first-grade teacher at a catholic school and Mack just enrolled his little boy Jonah in said school.
He's not with Torrie anymore and he never - not for a single day - forgot about Francesca and what he had with her. Even though there was nothing physical between them back then, it was so much deeper than anything they ever had before or after.
And now he's back to ask for forgiveness and to get a 2nd chance!
But can Francesca trust him again? She's so afraid to get hurt! Also, she kind of living with Victor! ☺
What will happen to Frankie & Mack? Will there be a 2nd chance for a HEA? READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT!

I was soooooo looking forward to reading this! And I loved it! But I also had some problems with it!
First of all - the cover! OY! I am in love with this cover!!! (Even though now that I finished the book and look into the eyes of the cover guy - his face, the way he looks, could've clued me in to the fact that we have a bit of a SAD softie on our hands :/ )
I really enjoyed the story! It was so adorable and funny and romantic and hopeful and sweet and sad and moving!
So please don't let my upcomping ramblings stop you from falling in love with this book.... here goes...
I felt that Mack kind of didn't deserve Frankie. He's always talking about hating his dad and not wanting to follow in his footsteps and still he never broke up with Torrie, in all these years??? WTF? His parents wanted him to be with her...he never loved her! I think that makes him such a weak person - a person I don't like all that much. He never went against his dad with anything important. I would've opened my mouth so much sooner!
Also, the way he sometimes talks, like with his neighbor and with us....also a bit non-alpha-male-ish. Maybe it's just me, or it's the new thing in romances.... Put a sexy alpha on the cover and make the guy in the book a weakling? BUT - I also loved him. He has so many alpha moments. So many funny moments and ridiculous moments and very moving moments. It's just that in some parts he comes across as this sad and weak guy without free will.
And then Frankie's poor live-in boyfriend Victor - who's a lot older than her. But I liked him. He's the grown-up in this book. In some moments while reading I wanted Victor to adopt Mack's son Jonah and live happily ever after with him, and forget all about everyone else! I felt very sorry for Jonah and Victor most of the time. They're the two suffering right in the middle of all that's happening!
For everyone scared of cheating in a book - nobody cheats here. Well, if you forget about the 8-year-long only-in-their-heads-and-hearts relationship that Frankie and Mack had going! ☺ And maybe one time where we're technically not really broken up yet with Victor, but Victor kinda knows it's over with them already...so it's not really cheating, because Francesca never really fell out of love with Mack.
Next, the weird plot-twist, no, not plot-twist...maybe more of a THING, that happens around the 80% mark??? I almost stopped reading. That was just adding absolutely unnecessary drama to the story.
Another thing that I noticed before in Penelope's books...she seems to be a pretty religious person. And I personally hate that like nothing else on this planet. I don't want people, authors, to push their 'faith' on me in my romances! Why does it have to be a catholic school? Why does Mack have to pray for help and bla bla and then an angel comes and saves the day??? EWWW NO!
And then the issues of Frankie and also Mack's son. They have some OCD-like mental trouble. And I felt that it was either talked about WAY TOO MUCH - or not enough, because we never go deeper into anything, it's all just so superficial. Weird somehow.
I also missed the mega-adorable-son-daddy moments that should be in such a book!
And the sex? Did anyone miss the sexiness of the book? I was so looking forward to seeing this hot single dad from the cover be this really sexy guy with lots of sexy scenes and ... I just expected a fun sexy romance. But it was more of a 'Lets-cry-into-my-old-neighbors-ear-that-I-was-such-a-weak-coward-for-eight-years-and-never-did-anything-to-get-her-back-and-now-I-only-want-to-win-her-back-because-my-ex-coincidentally-found-a-new-job-in-the-city-where-Frankie-lives-but-Im-still-not-fighting-back-against-whatever-daddy-says-bla-bla-bla' thing.
Oh, another tiny little thing - about the writing. I sometimes had the feeling an old guy from a victorian romance was talking. Please excuse my being here, but... ??? It was a bit weird. I know it's grammatically correct, but it sounds so old-fashioned!
As you can see I had a lot of problems with this story....
And all ^^^ that might not make it sound like it, but I really enjoyed this book. I laughed, cried and had allll the feels! It was an amazing second chance romance!!!
ANYWAY - please don't listen to me - I'm weird with the weirdest things... I loved the book!
MACK DADDY was a beautiful & funny & moving second-chance lovestory! Run to your nearest amazon for your own Mack - this one is MINE!!!
and by this Mack I mean the guy on the cover, not really the guy in the book ☺
OK - that was not really what I was hoping for. I loved the Rosemary Beach & Seabreeze series so much and I was hoping for an amazing spin-off. A[image]
OK - that was not really what I was hoping for. I loved the Rosemary Beach & Seabreeze series so much and I was hoping for an amazing spin-off. And the story was cute and romantic and moving and sexy and fun, but it got lost along the way. I wanted more Rush and more ... everything.
I know the guys and girls from those two previous series all combined have A LOT of kids, but do we really need to bring them all together in this first book? I lost track after a few names. And I think Abbi lost track too because she named 2 boys Cruz. That makes it even more complicated - I never knew who she was talking about now! Jeez. (Yes, I know, she probably named them Cruz before she planned on writing this spin-off, but still.) All those millons of boys and girls - each with their own problems and antics - were way too much for this one little book. The story got completely lost in between mentioning all those kids. And their possible future love interest. And the next problem - the biggest one for me. The writing! The whole story sounds like it was written by a 14 year old from a tiny town in the South - who never read a book in her life and never left her tiny little town. I kinda hated the writing. And added to that ... the million of typos and wrongly structured sentences. Why did we not use a proofreader or two or three? Why? Just give the book to your mom and your daughter and your neighbor. Jeez. I wasn't paying attention to finding typos and stuff, but my proofreader eye just couldn't stop finding them. So many. That's a bit dissapointing in a book coming from such an 'old' author. Sorry Abbi, but next time, please call me, I'll try to do a better job than whoever did it this time. This book and the last ones too - they somehow appear to come from an author who has lost her joy in writing. They were all a bit weird and meh .... BUT, I will still keep on reading Abbi's books - maybe she'll find the joy in writing again one day!
