The series follows a group of retired Navy SEALs recruited by the government they go on black ops missions. Th commander is Greg Lambert. He recruits each retired SEAL. This book is about Logan/Preacher Bishop and Vivian Sanders. I have read some of the series though not all, although the storyline is about this group of service men, each book is written by a different author. I would say you do not have to read all the books in the series to enjoy this one or read them in order but obviously if you want to enjoy them to the best then you should. It's an up-to-date issue dealijg with ISIS and biological warfare. There is a lot going on in the story so it's engaging and involved. It is well written and we even get a bit of insight into the commander, Greg Lambert. Arc.

This continues in the Blackstone secret ops world do there are lots of references and appearances from previous couples plus spin off series. I would say it's best to read series in order but each couple receive a book except for the original couple, Cole and Savi, which were a trilogy.
The Hero has issues with relationships, this is not only due to the job but also guilt over his twin sister who has a brain injury.
The heroine was a bit tstl (too stupid to live) at times but generally okay. She has come to Blackstone to hide out for a bit, a case she was involved in centred around the Mob, an ex who seemed as if it was going to be drama but wasn't and a father whose identity is kept a bit hush for a while. Everytime she leaves the Mob jump in so why did she still travel.....
No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine.
**spoiler alert** Typical SS book in style of writing. Man has honor, respect for women etc.

This one has the Hero and heroine as a married couple, that are separated for ten years and Hero hasn't been with anyone else.
Possible triggers. No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine but the heroine has been a sex slave so she has suffered abuse and there are some references though not huge detail and it's relayed in memories rather than present events.

The story between the Hero and heroine is good, though I found him a bit pushy with her to get married, I understood her reluctance due to her change in circumstances and her past.
The whole General, his wife and the magic of the story is not my thing but I have read all CS other books so I have just gone with it and enjoyed the couples story. That said there is more of it in this book as it may be the last of this series.
Other series of the author are touched on.
No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine. No other woman or man drama.
HEA. For the couple and the previous couples from the series.

I think if it was just the ex military eco home, tv show, commitment to marry when you draw the short straw I would be fine with it, the Jane Austen thing I find a bit wierd, but it means the women are tied there too so I just go with it.
No cheating. No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine. Series to be read in order. Couple per book but main story line thread runs through series. In a way it's a second chance romance as the Hero and heroine have met before though the heroine doesn't remember him. There are breadcrumbs dropped for future books in series as two men remain, the book ends with the next man drawing his straw and his situation set up. Previous couples from series feature. Best to read series in order as the couples relationships built and develop as the series progresses. The story is quite sweet. The Hero is besotted. The heroine pushes away for a time due to her situation.
HEA. As in their relationship will continue in the next books in the series.

Usual Susan Stoker Hero. Strong, protective streak. This time for both the heroine and three children. Some interesting issues raised. No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine. Bit slow burn due to the situation they are in and the three children being present for most of their time together. No other woman or man drama. No real relationship history. Pretty instant connection but more admiration than love at first. Some violent references and unpleasant issues going on in the background but no details or descriptive scenes. Breadcrumbs dropped for future books in series and updates of previous characters and possible spoilers to their books if not read series in order. Beloved Tex also makes an appearance. Warning that the epilogue drops a huge breadcrumb for a future book and it looks like the book that will continue it isn t out next. HEA. No doubt the couples story will continue in the background of the series....more

I was given this book as an ARC but I am going to be thoroughly honest about my review.
The writing is excellent as always from this author.

The series needs to be read in order as although each book deals with a couple there are breadcrumbs dropped for future books in series and updates of previous characters.
This time it's Anders and Evelyn (shes a new character).
To say their situation is complicated is an understatement. I thought the author did well to keep track and have things unfold the way she did.
Anders is all about Evelyn. Evelyn is very interested in Anders but she also has an ulterior motive for being on the set so it's not so easy for her. No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine. No cheating. No ex drama. Scene set for the next book with a small preview. HEA.

This series has a darker undertone that the authors other work. The heroine has suffered sexual abuse while in captivity, it is vague, there are no details or scenes replayed (In flashback) but it's stated as happened and she has to deal with the consequences, testing at a clinic and fear of intimacy.
No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine. No cheating or other woman/man drama.
