Ternyata...BAGUS JUGA WOY!
Zach bener - bener taking things for the granted!

Well...true to its title. It's a fling. It's, of course forbidden.
This is an erotica, so there's no HEA. Its contain cheating, so if you don't like cheat-theme story better search elsewhere. Personally, Forbidden Fling remind me so much to pornhwa or some hentai that I read with similar theme, pfftt :)). What make it difference is the writing style that suitable for female reader rather than males one (like all that pornhwa and hentai. I rarely find hardcore smutty manga for female reader that contain taboo themes like cheating or daddy kink :p).
Again...no HEA. So if HEA is a must for you, skip this one. But of you want a quick read, taboo to the core aka daddy kink, dirty talk for days, good girl gone bad and scorching hot sex scenes, Forbidden Fling might be your forte....more
Semua penulisnya termasuk "new author" buat gue (ditambah gue jarang baca buku karya pengarang lokal hahaha) jadi gue sebenarnya juga ga terlalu banyak ekspektasi.
Goodness, the amount of "Mary Sue-ish", I can't even...
Bingung?
Jengah lama - lama bacanya.
Nilai plusnya mungkin romansanya cukup dapet.
Hanya beberapa hal kurang bikin sreg aja. ...more
Bukunya emang sesuai harapan, ceritanya sangat ringan. Menikah itu ga mecahin masalah hidup, tapi nambah2in masalah (lol, so true!). Jadi ga perlu lah ngomong "ahh capek kerja, mau nikah aja!!".
Paling cuma ngebatin "hmm..indahnya masa muda beserta pahit manisnya :))) *
Next gue mau baca kisahnya Alin, si montir. Epilognya menyiratkan kalau cerita seri gemblongers ini timelinenya hampir sama semua kejadiannya. Jadi gapapa mau baca yang mana dulu....more

So finally I can cross my Goodreads Reading Challenge with this one, even Pumpkinheads is a graphic novel. Lol, don't care :P.
I bought this in Periplus at Juanda Airport and actually want to buy it for a long time because I like the illustration and I like the premise. This graphic novel is a quick read, but with the story that will make your heart feel warm <3. The illustrations are quite catchy and clean, although the panel can be too simple sometimes. Just rectangle by rectangle that for me, it's a little bit boring, lol. Mind you, I read mangas from my childhood until now and I know that those mangakas can get very creative with the panel. So the simplicity of the panel in Pumpkinheads is not what I used to.
I like that so many diverse characters here, both from our main characters. Deja that is brown-skinned and Josiah's pale skin, to the character's sexuality, esp Deja. It's all feel very positive. The story itself was Rainbow Rowell's trademark. A simple story but still enjoyable. I did like the way Faith Erin Hicks did the illustration. I can feel like Deja and Josie try to talk to me and make me want to join in their pumpkinpatch trip to chase Josie's lady love since he want to confess his feeling. Anyway (view spoiler)[ the way Josie said that he like Deja after he finally realize that his crush not what she seems to be feel...off. Honestly, I prefer that Deja and Josie remain friends, lol (hide spoiler)]
I'm glad I bought Pumpkinheads and I think I will re-read it again in the future. Just to experience both Deja and Josie's adventure once more! :D ...more
Oke, sebelum kita ber-rolling in the deep- ria, The Princess and The Bodyguard ini sejatinya memakai trope yang udah sering dipake.
Adele dan Julien lebih kayak yang pasangan yang hot and cold, yang you like me, you like me not.
Gue emang jadi merasa agak sesak napas pas baca buku ini, kayak pantes Adele ga mau jadi putri raja, kalau berpikir buat dirinya sendiri aja dia udah dilarang duluan sama ortunya.
...more

NA and me are like step sisters. We see each other with wary eyes, or in my case, I see this genre with caution. I had read 1-2 titles and the angst that follow almost throw me up. Make me wondering, what I did on college back then? Sure I can be annoying. Heck, I make my parents mad back then because I prolong my paper, therefore I graduated late compared to my friends (but I got a good job and great salary after that :P). On love department, my biggest problem just I did long distant relationship with my boyfriend-turn-husband. So, my college time might be boring XD.
Heh, enough about me :P
I already know Jen Frederick and her shocking revelation as Jane Litte from Dear Author long times ago, and I always think what happen if romance blogger writing romance book herself. I try to read Sacked, because review said, this is not ordinary NA. Nice, I'm not too experienced in NA field to be honest. Also, the hero is virgin. Virgin heroes are my kryptonite, and I will gobble up anything that have virgin heroes on it. I don't care that I don't even know or understand the world of American Football. For me, the only football matters is Premiership League in England, or World Cup, an event when I can praise some nice football (or soccer, like American call them) player's booty.
Okay, I like Sacked. Liked, not loved. There was angst, because after I ask my friend Ami if NA must have angst, she said yes. But the angst is done well. I like the characters and dual POV from Ellie (whose real name is Eliot) and Knox. Knox, yes he's alpha, but his alpha traits are endearing. Sure he can be bragging, he can be show off too much, but I don't get this annoyance when it's come to read about arrogant hero. The arrogancy is right, since Knox is confidence with his ability. Also, the way he pursue Ellie is cute. His reason to keep his virginity, not because religion reason, but because he want to give it to someone worthy is rare. Knox not inexperienced in sex department, he do know how to please woman, but he save it all for one woman only. Now, who will not melt when meeting a guy like this? Knox can be too good to be true, but I don't mind reading too good to be true characters as long they are well written.
Ellie, Ellie, Ellie...sure she is the cause of the angst here. But she's not TSTL or annoying even with her emotional baggage. I like her friendship with her roommate Riley and her support for Jack make me want a brother that I can support too (I just have sisters sadly and we're not close). Frederick also give readers insight into reading or writing disabilities. She's doesn't preach, just insert about this into the story without it feel forced. I guess she want readers to aware, if their children or cousins or siblings have reading/writing disabilities, there's no shame on it. That's doesn't mean people who have it is retard or dumb. They just need to be tested first, so they will get a right treatment. I wonder if anything like this can be applied on my country. Will be nice if there's any.
Oh, also Ellie is a reader and this passage make me smile:
The reason I'm so late this morning is because I stayed up all night reading. It was every bit as good as I'd anticipated and I couldn't put it down. I told myself one more page and then the clock flashed three in the morning
And any reference to Lord of The Ring have a stamp of approval from me:
If I'm honest, I'll admit that Knox Masters is exactly the type of guy I want to date. He dominates a sport I love. He's confident but not arrogant. He's funny, able to laugh at himslef and...shit, hot as the fires of Mordor. I mean, the One Ring could be forged in his hotness
So, I tolerate the angst, I like both characters and the side characters, especially Knox's football team. What I don't like is the conclusion for Ellie's "dark secret". I feel it's fall into the same level with deus-ex-machina plot that happen often in fantasy world. Meaning, it's too easy!! Beware spoilers! (view spoiler)[ So Ellie had been helping Jack to pass his grades for a long time and make him get his scholarship. I don't get how she can manage to hide it from him all that time. Okay, it doesn't matter anyway. What irked me is when Ellie and Jack tell the truth to Jack's coach, the coach's punishment is unbelievable! To make Ellie can't come close with the football team is ridiculous! And so, because Knox already fallin in love with Ellie, he married her so Ellie can get close to the team again.
This is too...fairy tale for me. Too easy. I don't know what in Frederick's mind to come with this problem and it's solution, but sure there is another answer to Ellie's problem? It's not that I'm against young marriage. I just think that the marriage is too fast, somehow feel immature and a little bit forced. To be honest, the problem lay in Ellie's parents because they are too ignorant to both children so Ellie must suffer and Jack have his confidence deflated. Rather than make Knox married Ellie, why not solved the problem with the parent first? It's not that Knox will not marry Ellie. I'm sure he will, because he's a type of guy that will love once for eternity. But, yeah still. I'm not satisfied with the ending (hide spoiler)]
There's some typo or grammatical errors (and this come from me that native languange is not English :P), but overall is okay. Frederick sure can write hot sex scenes and the scene when Knox masturbated himself in front of Ellie is wowza. The ending have sex-fest that make me rolling my eyes, but it's still hot, so why I'm complaining anyway. The humor is good, the friendship is nice, I just don't like the conclusion, but Sacked is a good read for me that still not sure with this NA genre.
"Will you cry if I tell you I love you back?" I nuzzle my cheek into his hand. "Maybe. Why don't you give it a try?" The evenness of his voice is an effort. "I love you." He doesn't cry, but his eyes soften toward me and love shines through; better than tears in my opinion

Because there's nothing new under the sun.
