really liked it

Lot of excitement and a few unexpected twists in this final book of series. It does a great job of wrapping up the lose ends of the story and giving us some surprises along the way. The only thing I found lacking or not as well done as I liked was the dragon aspect of the story. To me having them appear in the final book (view spoiler) felt rushed and perhaps added on to spin off the series. They were a interesting aspect of the story but having it so late in the series made it not blend as well into the story for me. Still a great series and is well worth the read.

René I want to read the spoiler so bad, but won't until I'm able to read the book, which sadly won't be for a week or two. I was wondering how the dragon would fit in, but honestly wouldn't mind a spin-off of this series.

I'm just guessing but this book actually sets it up really well for a spin off series dealing with the dragons and some of the side characters from the series. It does have a different kind of world building going on with both the dragons and merman so I'm hopefully there will be more books.

Dawn I read book 1 in this series and didn't feel drawn in enough to read book 2. If there's another series possibly spinning off, I may need to pick it up again and finish. I do like Shira Anthony's writing, but it may be a challenge that forces me to pick this one back up.

Jane (PS) I have only read Shira Anthony's contemporary Blue Notes series. I really enjoy fantasy so your review really caught my attention. I have found that her writing has matured over the Blue Notes series so hopefully this series was started after Blue Notes :)
