Facility Plan
MEDIA CENTER PROFILE
Serves approximately 440 students, Prek thru Fifth Grade Serves approximately 60+ faculty members One full-time media specialist Two full-time media clerks
Circulation Desk
The circulation desk is located adjacent to the entryway. They have a great view of the entire media center and easy access to the offices and special use rooms.
Reading/Periodical Areas
Students have fun, kid sized seating options with plenty of magazines to choose from. This is also a favorite place to sit and look through books you are considering.
Computer areas
This computer lab is part of the media center. It is equipped with a Smartboard, 20+ student Macs, and a color copier/ scanner/printer. The lower school has an additional laptop/Ipad Cafe upstairs. There are also three laptop carts, with 20 computers each.

Used mainly by Pre-k thru 2nd for story time Also used for specific lessons with the media specialist The entry to this area will be changed in the final plan.
The central area contains six round tables with four chairs at each one. Most lessons are taught here. There is also another table and chair grouping that provides additional space for work or reading.
Shelving
The two tree shelves pictured here contain primary fiction. They will be raised to give more shelf height for taller books. There are approximately 16, 594 books in the lower school library.
Replace temporary partition with permanent, heavy curtain. Change height of shelving to accommodate tall childrens books.
