The Kindergarten Times

It is through Gods strength that we

know courage, and through His power
that knows goodness.
- Judith C. Lechman
November 2014

Dear Parents,
I am thankful for another
great month of kindergarten. We
were kept busy with many special
events but most importantly, we
took the time to stop, reflect and
give thanks for all the wonderful
gifts we are blessed with.
What We Did
We have completed a
number of beautiful art projects
such as sunflowers, fall trees and
apple print paintings. We had a
wonderful kinder cooking day
making apple crisp. It turned out
great! Our students are quite the
budding young chefs.
Bears and cars came up as a
topic of interest. We identified
the different kinds of bears, their
habits and the different
characteristics they have (did you
know that polar bears have black
skin). We explored cars, their
wheels, what we drive at home and
our parking lot and incorporated
many math activities.

We also planted tulip bulbs

in the courtyard and are excited
to see what grows in the Spring!
In math we continue to have
fun learning our numbers from 1-10
as well as recognizing and
extending patterns. I have just
introduced how to sort by colors,
shapes and size. In language
learning we will continue to print
our names every morning and share
our learning in our journals.
Family Photo
Please bring in a photo of your
family. We are posting them on our
wall and the children love looking
at them. Thanks.

Memory Work for November

Birthdates - please help your
child learn his/her birthdate.
Continue working on letters at
home and promote printing your
childs name using a capital for
the first letter only.

Volunteers
I am so thankful to all the
parents who have helped in the
classroom and to those that bring
in supplies for kinder cooking days.
I feel very blessed to have such
loving and caring group of parents
and children.

Scholastic book orders

Special thanks goes out to
Please make checks out to
Scholastic Canada Ltd. Next order
is due November 19th.
Home Reading
I encourage reading at least
two books a night with your child
but understand how busy life can
be. An alternative: reading street
signs, road names and billboards is
another great way to encourage
reading. If your child shows an
interest in ballet or soccer, for
example, try getting them books on
these subjects from the library.
Parent Teacher Night
I loved meeting all of you! I am
very proud of your children and
this program and loved sharing
what we are busy doing in our
amazing classroom. It is important
that we communicate with each
other and work together to help
make your child successful
learners at school.

Keyara and Adam Sawatzky for

the very generous donation to
buy books for the classroom.
Sherri Carlson for our classroom
kettle (for playdoh)
Olumide Adekogba for the craft
supplies
