strategic direction remains quite ambiguous. At the domestic level, the struggle for power is at an all time high in all institutions. The tenure of the Prime Minister, who was ordered to be put under arrest, ends by March as does as the tenure of the Chief Justice (ending in September 2013) who ordered the arrest. The traditional rivalry between military and civilian authorities has further blurred the strategic direction in which Pakistan should be heading. Both the army chief and the President are also demitting their office this year. Political struggle, not only across the parties rather, between the army, judiciary and legislature, therefore, seems inevitable. At the same time the Pakistani army is in face-saving mode, in the aftermath of the Abbottabad incident. It is obvious that the recent skirmishes at LoC were a reflection of this domestic crisis that compelled the Pakistan establishment to revive its traditional hostility with India. Strategically, Pakistan is at a crossroads, confronting an unfavourable security environment. For instance, its conventional security policy of gaining 'strategic depth' towards the
west has been circumscribed by the US presence in Afghanistan. And, its customary approach to seek a 'strategic superiority' towards the east through Kashmir has been dormant since the 2003 ceasefire agreement with India. Moreover, there is a growing realisation within Pakistan today that most major challenges for its existence are emanating from the west in the form of Talibanisation. Or is there a larger strategy towards J&K? In order to assuage the domestic crisis and to restore the public faith in state machinery, Pakistan has been left with no option but to revive the perennial hostility with India by rekindling the Kashmir issue. The main reason, perhaps, could be the urge to retain its strategic significance or relevance to the US owing to the diminished scope of regaining strategic depth in Afghanistan. As part of this strategic shift, Pakistan raised the Kashmir issue in the last United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) general debate held in September 2012 after a gap of four years. Since Pakistan has assumed the United Nations Security Council
(UNSC) rotating presidency as a non-permanent member from January 2013, it is set to use this opportunity to bring back the Kashmir issue to the UN list of priorities. As a matter of fact, India had seconded Pakistan's candidature for this post, which is now proving inimical to its own interest. Nevertheless, Pakistan's intentions do not seem genuine in terms of finding a solution to the Kashmir issue. Rather, its actions are sparked by new geostrategic twists. The Indian domination of all the key heights of the Siachen glacier including the Saltoro Ridge threatens the 'old Silk Route' or the Karakoram Highway connecting Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan occupied Kashmir to Kashgar, a city in the Xinjiang region of China. China has promised Pakistan to construct the logistical route from the Gilgit-Baltistan to Gwadar. It appears that Pakistan's objective in Kashmir has been reduced to 'only demilitarisation of Siachen by India' because of these new geostrategic compulsions as outlined above and the China factor, which sought to revive the 'old Silk Route' by building the Karakoram Highway.
On the other hand, an unfriendly Afghanistan has obscured Pakistan's trade and economic interests in Central Asia, which has been then naturally pushed towards India. Although Indo-Pak trade relations, which have improved dramatically since 2003, are seen as a potential area of mutual cooperation, Pakistan is cautious as well as anxious about the growing economic interdependency with India. Thus, the geo-economic interests of Pakistan, driven by the dynamics of the geopolitical situation in the region, are inducing it to negotiate the demilitarisation of Siachen glacier with India, by hook or by crook. Even the K.Subhramanyam report on Kargil War observes that the 'Kargil Plan' of the Pakistani army was to force India to demilitarise Siachen by cutting off its supply routes. Lt.Gen. Paranaik has also averred that Kargil happened because of Siachen (note: India hardened its stand on Siachen in 1998). If that is true, then the recent incident at the LoC unveils Pakistan's 'Kargil Plan 2.0' as a result of India's reluctance to negotiate on Siachen.

Early Warning and Peace Alert: Transforming Rajouri & Poonch in J&K
BY D SUBA CHANDRAN n the last two years, there has been a substantial transformation in the twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch along the LoC in J&K. Keeping in line with the decline of militancy across J&K, the districts have also witnessed a substantial drop in violence. The local population seems to be convinced that the era of militancy and violence is over in the two districts. The security forces - military, paramilitary, and the J&K Police have worked hard to bring the situation under control. Violence related to militancy has come down to zero in the two districts. There is a popular belief that things are looking up. In this regard, how does one consolidate the gains, and ensure peace prevails? The State should not take the situation for granted and measure peace in terms of the absence of violence. True, militancy related violence has come down to zero in the two districts, and there is hardly any presence of military or paramilitary forces on the streets. The road opening parties (ROPs) and restriction in travel have come down drastically. The State and civil society now have to work on the following four areas to convert the present situation into a positive peace - economic reconstruction, connectivity and tourism, better governance, and social harmony. The process of economic reconstruction is already visible. One can also observe the economic presence and expansion of the middle class in these two districts. Construction of new houses, small shops along the major and minor roads, more vehicles on the streets, and the crowding of market areas highlight the flow of money in the two districts. Is every class benefitting from this economic growth, or is it restricted to the middle and upper middle classes? Government schemes, individual entrepreneurship, and foreign remittances (especially in Mendhar and Surankote areas) have primarily lead to this economic growth. However, this growth is not widespread and does not cover every section; it is led by the middle and upper middle classes, and is
presently limited to urban and semiurban areas. True, Vodafone and Airtel have reached every corner of the two districts, with everyone having a mobile phone; but this should not be the only yardstick to measure peace and prosperity. Lack of awareness and ignorance ensure that government schemes are used more by the middle and upper middle classes. Even today, there are many Gujjars in rural areas, who cannot get a community certificate reflecting their Scheduled Tribe status, owing to a general lack in awareness, and the level of corruption. Individual entrepreneurship also demands certain basic skills, capacity, and funding support - all these aspects are not yet present in every segment of society. Foreign remittances especially from the Gulf, as mentioned earlier, only benefit a small section of a particular community in Medhar and Surankote regions. Though the government pervades throughout the two districts in terms of numerous institutions, what is missing is governance. Several developmental activities, especially in road construction, have been undertaken all over the two districts. However, the other departments and institutions are yet to make a visible impact at the ground level. In the state capitals and district headquarters, there are various schemes under different ministries and departments; though supported by substantial funds, these schemes are yet to be seen at the grassroots. There is a huge gap between what is available on paper in the district headquarters, and what actually gets materialised. This is not a question of just leakages; there is a complete disappearance! Undoubtedly, the gap is being
used by middlemen - a substantial section that benefits from this loot. The biggest responsibility for the State is to ensure that this loot gets reduced. Even more importantly, the State has to be seen as responsible and accountable in the minds of the people. The majority do not trust the State; rather the predominant belief is the State aids only a section and allows corruption to prevail, because the entire government machinery is a party to this. The State will have to take measures to reduce the governance deficit, and also the trust deficit between the government and its people. While every department and sector needs to be activated, certain deserve special attention; education, health care, and rural development, being examples of this. Given the nature and extent of corruption, the J&K government and New Delhi may not be able to lead a revolution against corruption, but can at least make an earnest effort for clean governance in certain departments. Besides the above sectors, the government has to ensure that the institution of panchayat raj becomes fully functional. Unfortunately, there is a resistance from the elected political leadership and bureaucracy to devolve power to the panchayat institutions; this has sent a wrong signal to both the people and institutions of grass root democracy. After being embroiled for more than a decade with militancy and violence, today, there is an opening in the two districts. The State should seize this opportunity. If the State can ensure delivery in the above three sectors, along with ensuring effective panchayat raj institutions, it will go a long way in reducing the trust deficit between the governing and the governed.

MUMBAI: Stock market continued to fall for the fifth week by slipping 398 points to close below 19,000 levels after three months due to sustained selling pressure as the government slapped more taxes on companies as well as super rich and offered little concessions for large investors in the Union Budget. Confusion over the Tax Residency Certificate (TRC) announced by the Finance Minister on the budget day, which created fear among the foreign investors, also weighed on the market sentiments. Realty, PSU, Refinery, Metal, Power, Capital Goods and Healthcare sectors declined sharply on profit-booking, while Consumer Durable, IT and Tech sectors firmed up on good buying enquiries. Small-cap and Mid-cap shares also declined sharply by 5.63 per cent and 4.36 per cent, respectively, on panic selling triggered by speculation that pledged holdings are being sold. The BSE benchmark Sensex resumed higher at 19,365.33 and moved in a wide range of 19,411.18 and 18,793.97 before ending the week at 18,918.52, a net loss of 398.49 points or 2.06 per cent. Gemstones should always be treated very delicately. * Wash only with non-detergent soaps and warm water. * Do not use chlorine or salt water for washing. * Pearl strings should never be stretched when they are wet because they can snap more easily. * Always allow jewellery to dry completely before storing them. Moisture can sometimes corrode the metal and ruin the setting. By taking good care of your jewellery, they remain intact for decades or even centuries. teeth for good results. * Munching on crunchy fruits and vegetables like apples, carrots, cucumber, celery and parsley help in removing stains on teeth. Don'ts: * Fizzy drinks peel away the tooth enamel due to the acids in them and make the teeth weak and yellowish. * Drugs like cocaine, ecstasy, etc, are not only
bad for health but also have a telling affect on the teeth as they restrict blood flow to the gums and cause extensive gum damage. * Smoking is also a major don't for dental health as well as for general health. Nicotine leaves a residue on teeth causing yellowish stains on them. * Dark colored juices, like cranberry juice, leave stains on teeth due to the pigment and sugar they contain. Drink such juices with a straw. * Black coffee is also a culprit against sparkling, white teeth. * Tomato sauce and balsamic vinegar are said to cause staining of teeth. * Red wine is said to stain the teeth as well as wear away tooth enamel. It is easiest to swish some plain water in the mouth while at parties. * It is better to drink green tea or herbal tea as black tea does cause some staining on the teeth.

LONDON: Astronomers have captured the first direct images of a forming planet still embedded in a thick disc of gas and dust surrounding a young star, just 335 lightyears from Earth. Using European Southern Observatory's Very Large Telescope in Chile, an international team of scientists studied the disc of gas and dust that surrounds the young star HD 100546, a relatively nearby neighbour located 335 light-years from Earth.
Scientists were surprised to find what seems to be a planet in the process of being formed, still embedded in the disc of material around the young star. The candidate planet would be a gas giant similar to Jupiter. HD 100546 is a well-studied object, and it has already been suggested that a giant planet orbits about six times further from the star than Earth is from the Sun. The newly found planet candidate is located in the outer regions of the system, about

ockroaches (Blattodea) are an insect order remarkable in their biodiversity and distribution, with more than 4500 species known and great geographical reach. Cockroach fossils date back around 400 million years, which testifies to their great adaptability and endurance that puts them among the planet's great survivors. The cockroach genus Pseudophoraspism has has been reported from China for the first time thanks to the discovery of three new species: Pseudophoraspis clavellata, Pseudophoraspis recurvata and Pseudophoraspis incurvata, alongside the first regional record of three already described ones. They belong to the cockroach family Blaberidae, known also as giant cockroaches. The study was published in the open access journal ZooKeys. Although the adults of the newly described species can reach a size of around 3 cm in length. For comparison, the females of the largest species known, Blaberus giganteus, can reach up to 10 cm in length. The heaviest species, Macropanesthia rhinoceros, also known as the rhinoceros cockroach, reaches only around 8 cm but can weigh remarkable 35 grams.
new type of plastic someday could make fixing broken bones a snap. Richard Oreffo, a professor of Musculoskeletal Science at the University of Southamptonin England, and colleagues have created a blend of three plastics that is tough yet highly porous. This may make it an ideal "scaffold" for a broken bone - a placeholder structure that can be replaced with real bone tissue as the body heals. The polymer "has this lovely honey-
comb structure," Oreffo said. That allows living cells to "crawl all over it. Blood vessels can penetrate it. So it's really nice."
ootball f a n s h a v e become accustomed to viewing televised games from a dozen or more camera angles, but researchers at Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Electro-Communications (UEC) in Tokyo suggest another possible camera position: inside the ball itself. The researchers have shown that a camera embedded in the side of a rubber-sheathed plastic foam football can record video while the ball is in flight that could give spectators a unique, ball's-eye view of the playing field. Because a football can spin at 600 rpm, the raw video is an unwatchable blur. But the researchers developed a computer algorithm that converts the raw video into a stable, wide-angle view. Kitani said BallCam was developed as part of a larger exploration of digital sports. "We're interested in how technology can be used to enhance existing sports and how it might be used to create new sports," he explained. In some cases, athletic play may be combined with arts or entertainment; a camera-embedded ball, for instance, might be used to capture the expressions on the face of players as they play catch with it. When the ball is thrown in a clean spiral, the camera records a succession of frames as the ball rotates. When processing these frames, the algorithm uses the sky to determine which frames were made when the camera was looking up and which were made when it was looking down. The upward frames are discarded and the remaining, overlapping frames are stitched together with special software to create a large panorama. Similar stitching software is used by NASA to combine images from Mars rovers into large panoramas and is increasingly found in digital cameras.

Hyd Test Day 1: India 5 for none No injustice done to Lalit Modi in inquiry: BCCI tells court against Australia's 237 for 9
HYDERABAD: Indian bowlers restricted Australia to 237 for nine on the first day of the second Test at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal on Saturday. At close India were five for no wicket in their first innings after Australia captain Michael Clarke declared their first innings in a bid to grab wickets in the final moments of the day . Clarke top scored with 91 and wicketkeeper-batsman Matthew Wade scored 62 as no other batsman could make any significant contribution. The first day of the Hyderabad Test was a seesaw affair, with India dominant in the first and final sessions, and Australia unshakeable in the second. After tea, India's spinners again proved too difficult to read for the visiting batsmen, and NEW DELHI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday told a Delhi court that no "injustice" is being done to sacked IPL commissioner Lalit Modi in the ongoing inquiry against him on an IPL bidding issue and he has not yet challenged the proceedings of disciplinary committee. The BCCI made the submissions on a plaint filed by Modi against the Board, its President N Srinivasan, disciplinary committee members Arun Jaitley, Jyotiraditya Scindia and others seeking a declaration from the court that the committee is "biased" against him and has not conducted the proceedings so far in a "fair and transparent" manner. Senior advocate Gopal Subramaniam, who appeared for BCCI, said it is a "serious charge" that the Board is manipulating the proceedings before the disciplinary committee and if it is so, Modi should have sought a judicial review of the inquiry proceedings but he has not done it so far. "It is a serious charge against the Board. If gross injustice is done to a person at this stage, he will challenge it but he (Modi) has not done so," Subramaniam told
the home side reclaimed the advantage after Clarke and Wade had levelled the game with a century stand. For India, left-arm spinner
Ravindra Jadeja and pace-bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar claimed three wickets each for 33 and 53, respectively while off-spinner Harbhajan Singh took two wickets.
Additional District Judge Ruby Alka Gupta. He argued the proceedings before the disciplinary committee are going on from 2010 and since then, Modi has not challenged it but "what prompted him to do it just two days before next hearing there". M o d i ' s counsel Abhishek Singh, however, sought an interim injunction restraining BCCI from proceeding against his client before the committee comprising Jaitley and Scindia. The court, however, refused to give any injunction to Modi and fixed the matter for further hearing of arguments on March 11. The court asked the BCCI and its officials to file their replies on the plaint by the next date of hearing. The court had on February 27 issued summons against BCCI, its President, its Administrator Shashank Manohar, Scindia, Jaitley and another disciplinary committee member Chirayu Amin. Except Scindia and Manohar, summons were served upon all the other defendants who had appeared before the court through their counsel.

FIFA bans Peru's Joel Delhi thrashes Bengal to reach Sanchez for 2 years for final of Vijay Hazare Trophy doping at World Cup qualifier VISHAKAPATNAM: Gautam Gambhir (69) scored a
ZURICH, Switzerland : FIFA suspended Joel Sanchez for two years on Friday after the Peru midfielder tested positive for a banned substance at a 2014 World Cup qualifier. The 23-year-old Sanchez is banned from "all matches, whether friendly or official fixtures, at domestic and international level" through to January 21, 2015, FIFA said. Sanchez tested positive for the banned stimulant methylhexaneamine after a 1-1 draw at Bolivia in La Paz last October. Peru is eighth in the nine-team South American qualifying group and has only an outside chance of claiming one of four automatic qualification places for the World Cup in Brazil. Sanchez can appeal the ruling imposed Friday by FIFA's disciplinary panel. The sanction is one of the toughest handed down in recent years by FIFA. In 2008, Italian player Eduardo Morgado got a two-year ban for using nandrolone, an anabolic steroid, at the Futsal World Cup. In cases involving methylhexaneamine, UEFA issued one-year bans last August to two players from Macedonian club Rabotnicki who tested positive after a Europa League match against Lazio. The World Anti-Doping Agency classes methylhexaneamine as a "specified" substance, meaning it might have been consumed without intent to dope. Athletes can receive a reduced sanction if they can prove how a substance was ingested. FIFA provisionally suspended Sanchez in January pending a full hearing. Sanchez plays for Lima-based club Universidad San Martin.
confident half-century to complement the good bowling as Delhi thrashed Bengal by six wickets to enter the summit clash of the Vijay Hazare trophy, on Saturday. It was a superb allround show by Delhi as they first dismissed Bengal for a meagre 156 in 40.1 overs and then overhauled the target with 15.3 overs to spare. Now Delhi will clash with Assam, who beat Kerala by five wickets in the other semi-final, for the title of the domestic One-day tournament. Had it not been for a fantastic 87-run knock by Manoj Tiwary and his 73-run partnership with skipper Laxmi Ratan Shukla (30), Bengal could not have posted a respectable total. Leg-break bowler Arun Sood (3/48) was the most successful bowler for Delhi with three wickets while Sumit Narwal (2/18), Pradeep Sangwan (2/28) and Rajat Bhatia (2/37) took two wickets apiece. Pravinder Awana drew the first blood by clean bowling Wriddhiman Saha and after that Narwal and Sangwan ripped apart the Bengal middleorder. Sood played his part by cleaning up the tail. Delhi also did not have a good start, losing opener Dhruv Shorey (10) early but its middle-order responded well. Unmukt Chand, who opened with Shorey scored 22 while Gambhir scored 69 off 78 balls. Brief Scores: Bengal 156 all out in 40.1 overs (Manoj Tiwary 87, Laxmi ratan Shukla 30; Varun Sood 3-48, Sumit Narwal 2-18) lost to Delhi 160 for 4 in 34.3 overs (Gautam Gambhir 69, Rajat Bhatia 28*; Anustup Majumdar 1-18, Iresh Saxena 1-24)

uality assurance management can be defined as the management of all quality related project activities. The term 'quality assurance' is often used as equivalent to quality control, which is totally based on the quality of a product. Under the project activities, there are four QA processes - definition, planning, execution and control. The main work of a quality assurance manager or a project manager is to make sure that the quality plan is implemented according to the plan as well as to check whether all the objectives of the project have been achieved or not. Although project manager plays an important role in all quality assurance activities, the main responsibility lies on all the team members of the project for producing a quality product for the consumers. The chief principles of quality assurance management are fulfillment of adequate technical needs, quality of suppliers, check the prod-

see their home. Each caterpillar, now a beautiful butterfly, was alone in the middle of the great big world. "Where is Cater?" Pillar said when she came out. "Where is Pillar?" Cater thought when he came out. So the two butterflies decided to look for each other. As he flew off Cater looked down at himself and realized that he had turned into a butterfly with a yellow body and yellow and black spotted wings. He didn't look anything like the little green caterpillar he had been before he closed himself up in the cocoon. He landed on a nearby leaf and sat there wondering how he was going to find Pillar since he didn't even know what she looked like any more either. All his life he had known her as a little green caterpillar too. "This is not going to be easy" Cater thought to himself, "How can I search for my sister butterfly when I don't know what to look for?" to be continued
tree where their home was. But since they had never been to the bottom of the tree they thought that this was just how it was. They had only climbed a few inches however, when the tree started to move! "Wow, the tree is moving now" said Pillar sounding a bit worried. "Look!" Cater said pointing up "This isn't the tree that we're climbing. It's the foot of Elephant!" When Pillar looked up she saw two giant elephant eyes looking straight at her. The elephant said "Why are you tickling my leg you little caterpillars?" By now Cater and Pillar were very afraid, but they explained to the elephant how the big wind had blown them out of the tree and they had thought his leg was the bottom of the tree where their home was. The elephant was very kind even though he looked very frightening to the little caterpillars and he felt very sorry for them being stuck on the ground so
he decided to help them. He put his long trunk down next to them and told them to climb on. Then he carried them up to the top of the tree by stretching his long trunk way up high. The caterpillars were thrilled to be home again and they both shouted at exactly the same time "Thank you Elephant! You saved us a lot of work climbing back up this big tree." The kind elephant waived his long trunk at the two caterpillars and went happily on his way. The two caterpillars continued to live in the top of the tree and to take care of each other, but soon it was time for them to make their cocoons and turn into beautiful butterflies. Cater and Pillar said goodbye to each other and promised that whoever came out first would stay and wait for the other one. Then they spun their cocoons and sealed themselves inside. While they were in their cocoons, another big storm came and blew them off their branch and far away. But this time they did not land next to each other. Cater landed near the river and Pillar landed near the field. When they came out of their cocoons the caterpillars could not find each other. They looked this way and that but they couldn't even

Sarnath is one of four holy Buddhist sites sanctioned by the Buddha himself for pilgrimage. The other three sites are: Lumbini (birth); Bodh Gaya (enlightenment); and Kushinagar (death). Sarnath has previously been known as Mrigadava, "deer park," and Isipatana, meaning the place where holy men (Pali: isi) fell to earth. The latter name is based in the legend that when the Buddha was born, devas came down to announce it to 500 holy men. The holy men all rose into the air and disappeared and their relics fell to the ground. The current name Sarnath, from

satellites. The magnetic storm caused the collapse of the HydroQubec power grid within a few seconds, when induced currents in the wires blew out transformer cores and fried protective equipment, causing a chain reaction that resulted in power loss for six million people for nine hours and substantial economic damage. The Toronto stock exchange had to temporarily be shut down due to computer damage sustained by the magnetic storm. Several satellites in orbit were damaged for a cost of several tens of millions of dollars. A magnetic storm could be particularly dangerous for unshielded astronauts, not due to the induced current int he Earth's magnetic field, but by the energetic particles coming directly from the Sun itself. An astronaut in a conventional space suit on the surface of the Moon during a severe storm could receive 7000 rem of radiation, a lethal dose. If the astronaut could be warned and take cover beneath lunar soil, however, the effect would be minimal.

MAGNETIC STORM
A magnetic storm, also known as a geomagnetic storm, is a disturbance in the Earth's magnetic field caused by coronal mass ejections (CMEs) or solar flares from the Sun. A magnetic storm usually begins between 24 and 36 hours after the solar event, when a shock wave of solar wind reaches the Earth's ionosphere. The magnetic storm then typically lasts 24 to 48 hours, though some may last as long as days. The effects of a magnetic storm include disruption of communications and navigation systems, intense auroras, damage to satellites, and during the most extreme storms, induced currents in power lines and pipelines that result in power outages and corrosion. Serious magnetic storms occur once every decade or so, with the most severe occurring once every century. They occur when energetic particles from a solar storm collide with the ionosphere and magnetosphere, creating a cascade of energetic particles and disturbing the atmosphere's magnetic and electric currents.

There have been two severe magnetic storms in the last two centuries, including a storm on 28 August - 2 September 1859, which is the largest on record, and another on 13 March 1989. During the 28 August - 2 September 1859 magnetic storm, auroras were seen as far south as Mexico, Cuba, Hawaii, and Italy. Telegraph wires in Europe and North America shorted out, some causing fires. Active sunspots were observed on the Sun just 18
hours before the shock wave arrived, triggering the geomagnetic storm. This is one of the first times a geomagnetic storm was predicted in advance. The event came to be known as the 1859 solar superstorm. A more recent magnetic storm, occurring on 13 March 1989, was more damaging to the world's infrastructure due to its greater infrastructure in general, plus increased dependence on sensitive electronics, including

Samsung announces Galaxy LG unveils WCP-300, the "world's smallest wireless charger" at MWC Note 510 (8.0) in India
week after being officially unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Samsung has announced the Galaxy Note 8.0 as the Note 510 in India. Expected to compete with Apple's iPad mini, the Samsung Galaxy Note 510 comes with an 8inch WXGA (1280800 pixels) TFT display with a 189ppi pixel density. Running on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, the tablet has a 5megapixel rear and a 1.3-megapixel front camera. Measuring 210.8 x 135.9 x 8 mm and weighing 338 grams, the Galaxy Note 510 is powered by a 1.6 GHz A9 quad-core processor coupled with 2GB RAM. It will feature 16/32GB internal storage options with additional expansion support up to 32GB via microSD. Connectivity wise, the tablet boasts Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi direct, AllShareCast, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0, A-GPS and GLONASS (3G version only). The tablet comes with a host of pre-installed applications such as
the proprietary and now upgraded Chat-On 2.0 messenger, Awesome Note and Flipboard amongst many others. It has S Pen support with Air View, S Note, S Planner, Email with hand-writing integration and more. Samsung has not revealed the price or when the Galaxy Note 510 would go on sale in India. Samsung Galaxy Note 510 key specifications * 8-inch WXGA (1280x800) display, 189 ppi * 1.6GHz A9 quad-core processor
* 2GB RAM * 16/32GB internal storage, expandable up to 64GB (microSD card) * 5-megapixel rear camera, 1.3megapixel front camera * Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi direct, AllShareCast, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0 * A-GPS + GLONASS (3G version only) * Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) * Accelerometer, Digital Compass, Proximity * 4,600mAh battery
fter showcasing its Optimus series of smartphones, LG has now unveiled the WCP-300 wireless charger that also happens to be the "world's smallest" in the industry. South Korea will see the hardware arrive this week with a 65,000 won (roughly $60) price tag, but the charger is scheduled for a worldwide roll out soon with US being one of the countries on the list. Measuring 6.98cm in diameter, LG claims that the charger is so designed keeping in mind the portability factor. Also, though it it is small in size, the company promises that the charging area is 1.7 times wider than that of LG's previous generation wireless charger. The new model is compatible with a standard 5-pin micro-USB charger. The company's official press release mentioned, "The WCP-300 uses the electromagnetic induction technology and is Qi certified by the Wireless Power Consortium. Electromagnetic induction produces a magnetic field that in turn generates an electric current to charge the batteries in devices placed on the charging pad. Certification ensures
that the WCP-300 is compatible with all smartphones that support the Qi standard." Both the LG Spectrum 2 and Nexus 4 come with built-in support for wireless charging right out of the box, eliminating the need to purchase separate covers unlike the recent Nokia Lumia 920 and 820 devices. The WCP-300 is also expected to support the Optimus G Pro, Vu II and LTE II smartphones among others. Samsung earlier planned on using an alternate technology based on resonant magnetic coupling that is different from the electromagnetic induction found in the current wireless chargers. This would have allowed the Galaxy S IV to be charged from a distance of up to 2 meters. In comparison, other smartphones that have wireless charging support right now require to be placed at a distance of no more than 4cm away from a charging pad. But the company feels that it would be to expensive in the market and hence has ultimately decided to stick with the more standard wireless charging method.
