Create a Training Group

Just as you would create an Edmodo Group for a class or after school club, you can also create a group for a

training or professional development session. This group can serve as a backchannel for discussion before,

during and after the session, as well as a repository for all the content shared in the training.

To create an Edmodo training group, follow the steps below.

1. Select “Create a Group” on the left side panel of your Edmodo Homepage.

2. Enter a Group name, select “Professional Development” as the subject area and “Edmodo Training” as the

subject in the pop-up box that appears.

3. Click the “Create” button and you will be taken to the Group page which will display the Group code on

the Post Stream as well as the left side panel. This is the Group code that you will need to give

your teachers so they can join your Group. The Group code will automatically lock after 14 days for safety
purposes, or if you lock the Group before that time. A locked Group code can still be used to join a Group, but

the teacher will have to approve the request to join the Group.

Have your teachers join from their existing Teacher Accounts, add training materials to a folder and share

the folder with the Group.

Note: Watch our Webinars and see here for more information on using Edmodo for professional

development.

Create a Group or Class (Teacher)

In order to better differentiate Student Classrooms from Teacher Groups, we've created a separate section for

your Classes with your Students.

Classes are used for your classroom with your Students, while Groups are used for any Teacher to Teacher

Groups and for Teacher collaboration/Professional Development.

To create a Group or Class:

1. Select the "Create a Group" or "Create a Class" button towards the bottom of your list of Groups or Classes.

2. Enter the information and click "Create." If your Group or Class spans multiple grade levels, click "Range"

and then set the range of grade levels.

3. Then invite Students, Teachers, or Parents to join the Group or Class! Locate the Group or Class Code and

give it to your Students, Teachers, or Parents so they can join your Group or Class.

Note: You cannot have two Groups or Classes with the same name. It is a good idea to enter unique identifiers

in your Group or Class name (eg. Language Arts 2015-2016) if you plan to use similar Group or Class names

over time.
Join a Class or Group

Joining a Class or Group as either a Student or a Teacher is easy! All you need to do is get

the Code or the Join URL from the Teacher who owns theClass or Group or a co-teacher. Then,

follow these simple steps:

If you have a Code:

1. Log in, and click "Join a Group" or "Join a Class" on the bottom of the list, on the left of your

Edmodo home page.

2. Enter the Code and click "Join." You must get this code from the Teacher who owns the Class or

Group or a co-teacher.
3. If the Code is unlocked, you'll be added right to the Class or Group! If it's locked, then you'll be

added to an approval queue and must wait for the Teacher or Co-Teacher to approve your join

request.

If you have a Join URL:

1. Just enter the Join URL in to your browser and log in to Edmodo.

2. Click the "Send Join Request" button. You'll be placed in an approval queue for the Class or Group,

and the owner or a co-teacher can approve your join request. Then you'll be in the Class or Group!

Signing up as a Student? Students join a Class or Group when they create an account. Just go to

www.edmodo.com, and go through the steps to sign up as a Student. As part of signing up, you will

enter the Code, and when you're done signing up, you'll be in the Class or Group!

In an approval queue? Don't worry, that just means the owner must approve your join request. This

occurs when the code is locked, or when using a Join URL.
