As cited by Alanzalon (2011), The Filipinos'

penetration in the mainstream media and the openness of the

Filipinos to foreign media products brought upon the Korean

Wave in the country. That is why being hooked back then in

the other influences from other countries, like the Mexican

superstar, Thalia and Taiwanese group F4, is a no surprise.

Since 2003, Korean dramas have become a staple in

Philippine television. Studies show that the Philippines

was only one of the many shores that the Korean wave, also

known as Hallyu, affected. Also, Cruz (2014), citing that

because of the influence of Korean mainstream media in the

Philippines, it would lead having investments in the

Philippine market, in regard to events, merchandise, and

etc. It would be a benefit for both countries. Thus

entailing economic ties between the two countries.

The fixation of many Filipinos with Korean culture may

have negative effects. This Korean wave changes their

behaviors, norms, perspectives and standards, far from what

our culture is. One of these is their standard of beauty

affected as what Korean culture has. Too much immersion of

the other country's culture and also when the number of

them increases, it may result to losing the Philippines'

own identity or own culture. Worse, it might result to the

Philippines government be practically controlled by future

Korean governments.

To determine K-Pop influence in the Philippine culture

and to the new generation. Filipinos preference for Korean

culture particularly in dramatic television series, pop

music and the latest fashion as well. To know how Korean

culture affect the taste of Filipino youth with regards to

their culture. Also, to understand the bad effects or good

effects of Korean culture to the youths through its

cultural exports in the Philippines.

The purpose of this study is to improve the

understanding about the Korean culture influence in the

Philippine culture. Today's generation or the new

generation can easily capture to the things around them,

because these youth are exposed to the kinds of music,

television dramas and also in their taste of passion. You

can notice that some Filipinos are listening and singing

song different language which is the Korean language that

we do not know what the meaning of it is. The youth

improves their learning on how to apply Korean culture in

their generation and by communicating using Korean

language.
