METHOD STATEMENT

For
Clearing and Grubbing

1 Work Description
The purpose of this work is getting all unused object on site area cleared and removed. This
work consists of :

a. Clearing and Grubbing
 All surface objects and all tress, fallen timber, rotten wood, stumps, roots, snags,
brush, other vegetation, rubbish, and other protruding obstructions such as rubble,
not designated to remain, shall be cleared and/or grubbed, including disposal as
required;
 Clearing and grubbing of pits, channel changes, and ditches will be required only to
the depth necessitated by the excavation within those areas.
b. Top Soil Stripping
 In areas under roadway embankments, from which top soil or unsuitable materials are
to be removed or which are designated to be compacted, all stumps and roots shall be
removed to a depth at least 50 cm below the original ground surface and at least 50
cm below the bottom of the lowest pavement layer;
 In roadway cut areas, all stumps and roots shall be removed to a depth of not less
than 50 cm below the finished sub-grade level;
 In general, top soil stripping work will remove the fertile soil layer to avoid the regrow
of vegetation.

Equipment

This work will utilize heavy equipment to ease the task, such as :

a. Excavator b. Bulldozer c. Dumptruck

2 Methodology
Clearing and Grubbing work will only be conducted inside the Right of Way (ROW) along the
project area. Simply, this work is illustrated by Figure 4.2 below which consists of works such
as:
a. Staking out of clearing and grubbing area by surveyor (Figure 4.1);

b. Objects described in chapter 1 then is removed using excavator;


c. The result of the cleaning are gathered in a place using Excavator;
d. The gathered object then be loaded onto Dump Truck;
e. The ground is flattened using a Bulldozer;
f. The unused material carried by Dump Truck to disposal area.

3 Safety, Health and Environment
Ultimately, safety and health aspect for this work could not be ignored as well as
environment awareness. Therefore, these aspects will be planned as such and revised until
convenient conditions are met. Primarily, conditional actions will be taken such as:
a. Water tank car will be provided to water and moist the area when the dust overly
scattered;
b. Flagman will be provided to ensure traffic safety during construction;
c. Cleaning team will be provided to clean the spilled material in periodic time if travel line
pass national road.
