LOADICATOR:

Q: What is Loadicator ? Explain.

Ans:

Loadicator is modern method of determining the effect of

different condition of load and ballast on the ship’s structure
and stability and have all the stability book/information fed in
for that particular ship on which it is being used.

The loadicator assist Master or ship’s cargo officer which is

chief officer in Planning cargo operations and ballast
operations.

Loadicator calculations are very fast. Loadicator calculates

Shearing Force and Bending moments rapidly and can
immediately tell whether the ship’s stresses are safely within
limits and or beyond prior proceeding to sea.

Ship’s cargo officer can immediately calculate the amount of

cargo on board along with how much cargo to go.

Some loadicator are also give good assistance during trimming

of the ship and assist in to fine how much cargo to load and
where to achieve the desired draft.
Thus loadicator is an very useful equipment fulfilling the
requirement of SOLAS whereby it is required that information
provided to the Master should be such that the Master is able
to make an accurate calculation of ship's stability quickly by
simple way.

Following are the features of Loadicator.

1.Accurate Calculations
2.Various reports presentation
3.User friendly
4.Graphical presentation of the Tank/hold plan
5.Can view multiple loading condition
6.Approval from Classification societies
7.Able to create and store new condition-Load and unload
8.You can retrieve and edit stored condition.
9.One can have units choice-British/SI
10. Provide correction in sounding due to trim/heel of the
vessel.
11.Fast calculations of draft, Trim, heel,FSM, KG
12.Calculations of Displacement and deadweight.
13.IMO intact stability criteria as per IMO A-749
14. SF/BM calculations and can be presented in graphical or
tabulated frame
15.Graphical representation of the result.
16.Weight correction by stowage factor
17.Warning for Load line draft
18.Alarm of any stability criteria violation
19.Propeller Immersion by percentage
20.Alarm if exceeding Tank Top Strength
21.Best use in Ballast exchange
22.Loading/ Discharging condition
23.Can be used for draft survey.
24.Hull deflection calculation-Hog/Sag effect on calculation on
deadweight
25. Damage stability calculations- some of the software have
different and additional software for this.
26. Help and support/manual inbuilt along separate hardcover
manual (operational manual)

Loadicator is having all the data feed in as per the Loading and
Stability booklet of the ship.
Cybermaster TM and Cargomax are example of loadicator's
software extensively used on board vessel which works on
windows operating system.

Loadicators used on board a vessel have unique features

depending on the type of the ship on which it is used.

NOTE:

The stability software that use in Loadicator must cover all

stability requirement which suppose to applicable to that
particular ship. Class only approves the software.

The Loadicator must able to print all stability information and

all input and output information should be comparable with
approved stability information

Having approved software (stability software) is not

replacement of approved stability information but only an
addition assistance to calculate stability information.
