1 SCOPE
This method statement is made to enumerate the activities involved in the installation of
metal roof and wall cladding works as per the project specifications and also to ensure
safety procedures involved in the execution of the activity, according to the requirements of
Project name, Location.
2 REFERENCES
The latest project specification and the site safety procedures shall be used as references
and is part of this method statement in the execution of the work.
3 GENERAL
3.1 This method statement has been prepared to explain the procedure involved in the
installation of single & insulated sheet panels for the following buildings at Project
Area.
3.2 Proper PPE such as hard hat, safety goggles, cover-all, safety shoes, hand gloves,
ear plug, mask, safety harness etc., shall be arranged and implemented with the
personnel engaged in the working area.

Site Manager shall be responsible to provide his site teams with appropriate
resources to ensure that works are done in accordance with the project safety and
quality standards.
He is the responsible for the multitude of tasks. He shall review the project activities
in depth and to manage the construction schedule in an effective and efficient
manner. He is the responsible person to lead the construction crew as per project
requirements.
5.4 Surveyor
The Civil Supervisor shall be directly involved in the supervision, planning and
execution of all activities. He shall be responsible for the preparation of work plan
prior to commencement of work. .

The QA/QC Manager shall be responsible to ensure that all works are in accordance
with the approved drawings and specification requirements and as well as
implementation of quality control procedure. He is responsible to review / prepare
ITP and Method Statements.
The QA/QC Supervisor / Inspector shall be responsible for the necessary inspections
and testing to be carried during the activities.
Work Permit Coordinator shall be the authorized person for all the work permit
related activities and he shall be the responsible channel for Client. He shall be the
responsible person for guiding and granting work permit for all site activities. He
should ensure that all safety precautions are followed and maintain at work. Any
deviation will mean temporary stoppage of work until all safety requirements are met.
5.10 Foreman
The Foreman shall be responsible in his own discipline for the direct execution of the
metal roofing and wall cladding activities according to the plan. He shall directly
control and give instruction to the working personnel. He shall also ensure that works
are performed with proper tools/equipment, PPE’s and good housekeeping around
the working area.
HSE Manager / Supervisor shall review each activity based on JHA for the activity,
submitted along with work permit for approval prior to the work. He shall ensure that
safe working plan and work permits submitted to Client safety department must be
implemented and observed during the concerned activity.

7 WORK PROCEDURE
7.1.1 Only trained and experienced working personnel shall be allowed for
the installation of cladding works.
7.1.3 The installation of wall metal shall be done through man-lift and man-
basket operations.
7.1.4 The man-basket or man-lift shall be provided for fixing three layers at
top, middle and bottom.

7.1.5 The ground shall be cleared and prepared for the equipment
operations in safe manner.
7.1.6 To ensure that the equipment and tools for the operation are inspected
by safety officers prior to installation.
7.2.1 Prior to roof materials installation, lifeline shall be installed on the roof to
protect roof sheet installer from accident fall. It shall run along the
longitudinal side and 3m apart.
7.2.2 All roof installers shall wear full safety body harness during installation
process.
7.2.3 Crane shall use for lifting roof materials and placing near the intended
area of installation.
7.2.4 From there the workers shall shift the materials one by one manually to
the actual area for fixing.
7.2.5 During installation the lapping shall be along the direction of the wind.
7.2.7 Installation shall start from the lowest portion (eave line) moving to the
higher portion (Ridge line) considering the lapping, for ease of roof lay
outing.
7.2.8 To drive exposed fasteners for roof materials, where purlins are located.
Required spaces shall be provided to fix the sheet to its final position.
7.2.9 The sheet alignment shall be checked throughout the installation process.
7.2.10 Weather tight installation shall be done by firm form closure and by
sealing.

7.2.11 Where panel end lap occurs, sheeting angle shall be provided to rest the
end lap and also screw tightened with the over lapping panel during
installation.
7.2.12 Roof panel once fixed shall serve as a safe working platform for roof
installers.
7.2.13 Insulated roof panels shall be field cut to suite at roof opening locations.
Cutting of panels using torch shall be not done.
7.2.14 All the roof panels are aligned along the ridge flashing at top level. Ridge
ventilators are provided for certain buildings as per IFC drawings.
7.2.15 Roof flashings including all accessories are provided with water tight
installation using exposed fasteners.
7.2.16 Roof Gutters shall be provided as per the IFC drawings along with
downspout.
7.2.17 Gutters shall be independent of roof seal and shall be attached to the eave
strut adapter by means of gutter hanger.
7.3.2 The site supervisor shall check the tools and equipment for good
condition.
7.3.3 Before starting the installation work, plumb and alignment of the
girth and purlins are to be checked.

7.3.5 At first, the sheet bundle is shifted using crane to the purlin portion
of the roof frame, where it will be installed.
7.3.6 From there the workers shall shift the materials one by one
manually to the actual area for fixing.
7.3.7 During installation the lapping shall be along the direction of the
wind.
7.3.11 Before final placing of wall panels, all corners and side trimmings
shall be done.
7.3.12 Flashing and sealing of wall panels with weather closures shall be
done at the top and bottom and at perimeter of all openings.
Self-tapping screws shall be used for fastening.
8 INSPECTION
The QC Inspectors of Subcontractor, Client and the OWNER representatives shall carry out
the necessary tests and inspections at the various stages of metal roofing and wall cladding
works and generate the RFI maintain the record as per the approved Inspection and Test
Plan, Latest Drawings, International Standards, Project Specification and this Method
statement. All the tests shall be performed by an authorized third party laboratory.
9.1 Subcontractor safety supervisor shall carry out the safety site inspections to ensure
that safety requirements laid out in the safe work plan are followed during and after
the concrete repair works. Safety Manager / Supervisor shall review the Safety
Action Plan and secure Work Permit if necessary prior to start of any activities.

9.3 All equipment for metal roofing and wall cladding works shall have to be inspected by
Subcontractor Safety Manager / Supervisor prior to forwarding to Client safety
department inspection prior to use at site to ensure their safe worthiness at work.
9.4 Permit to work (PTW) document is properly mentioned with enough description and
shall be submitted to Client for approval before executing.
9.5 According to the nature of the work Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) shall be used and
filled everyday together with tool box meeting and shall be attached to the PTW and
be available in PTW Box.
9.6 Enough working spaces will be provided and the enter/exit access. Proper
barricading and safety signboards, emergency equipment introduced. Designated
safety person shall monitor and act throughout the whole work activity.
9.7 During metal roofing and wall cladding procedure, first the area shall be under safety
work area for the whole duration of the activity. All the precautionary measures shall
be taken considering the probability of emergency. In hospitalization cases,
ambulance will be provided.
9.8 Emergency exit point, assembly area, emergency evacuation plan and emergency
numbers shall be posted on the boards at site.
