1)Preamble – History of the KVK Krishi vigyan Kendra mohol :
It is a district level farm science centre established by Indian council of agricultural
research (ICAR), New Delhi mahatma phule krishi vidyapeeth rahuri at Solapur district for speedy transfer of technology to the
farmers field The krishi vigyan Kendra Mohan was established November 2011 and started working in 2012.
2) Mandates / Objectives of the KVK
1. Conducting 'on farm testing '(OFT) to identify the location specificity of agricultural
technologies under various farming system. 2. Organising front line Demonstration (FLD) to establish production potential of
various crop enterprises on ten Farmers field.
3)Jurisdiction/Area of working :
Operational l area of working kvk is 6 tahsils of Solapur district. These 6 district are as follows1. Mohol.
2. Pandharpur 3. Malsiras 4.Madha 5.karmala 6.Sangola.
4)Functioning : General:
General - 1. To produce and supply high quality planting material to growers that is farmers community
can sell it from 300 to 400 rs/kg. 2. They also carrying activities like low cost ripening chamber trials, Silage making, drumstick
harvester trials, vegetables draying, and value addition ready to eat pomegranate arbes trial , seed processing, primary processing
vermicompost production etc;
5)Major focus items / activities-
1) now days kvk mohol- is focused on the project like mashroom production for 25 days training they also organised
training like organic farming which is about 25days . 2) they also focused on activities like mini Dal mill, biofortified variety of wheat (
MSc's4038) jowar phule Rohini and phule panchami. 3) there latest project is on sorghum variety for preparation of hurda for providing to
farmers community.

We gained information about kvk's activities, objectives ,functions and technology they adopted.
They really work hard always helps to farmers and self help group provide information about animal husbandry and organic farming . As
they strongly endorse organic farming and take only organic produce they purchase the organic produce from farmers and self help group
produce thereby solve the problems of marketing.

1.Preamble :-
1.The Sorghum Research centre,Mohol is started in 1918. 2. In 1928-29 ARC focused on research and release new variety of rabi
Jowar. In 1932-34, research on Jowartake place and new variety released I.e. Maldandi-35. 3.The centre is having 36.81 ha area . 4.In 1945-
46 it focused on Seed production ,In 1963-64 it reserch on cotton,Pigeon pea and imp oil seeds. 5.RARC Mohol ,works as testing and realse
new varieties. 6. It released varieties-maldandi-35,SPV-86, Swati, SPV-339, Phule-mauli, Phule-yashod,Phule-chitra, phule-uttara for hurda
purpose of Jowar .

2.Mandates:-
1. Introduction, conservation and evaluation of Rabi Sorghum 2. To undertake seed production of different Rabi crops. 3.
Production of diseases and pest resistance varieties of Rabi Sorghum 4. To produce less duration, Improved breeding varieties of Rabi
Sorghum 5. Development of integrated disease management technologies of Rabi Sorghum 6.To participate in publicity-funded activities
such as Germplasmcollection and evolution,breeder seed production,and front-line demonstration

6.Problems faced by research centre:-
1. Administration problem – staff strength is inadequate and more program to be conducted along with other sponsored program leading
to hectic schedule for limited staff of Regional Agriculture Research Centre.
2. Lack of location specific technology.
3. Technical problems – lack of technical assistance for SMS
4.Shortage of labour in research station.
5.Price fluctuations in crops.
7.Suggestion to overcome the problems:-
1.Government shall focus on making RARC financially better by providing finance and other necessary funds than
creating new RARC. 2.MPKV University should give more attention toward this RARC center for better development. 3. Staff strength is
inadequate which must be filled by authorities.
8.Students comment:-
1.The team co-ordination of RARC staff is excellent.2.We have received proper and detailed information on various research so that we can
apply it on actual farm or can transfer it to other farmers. 3.RARC is also researching on Sorghum,cowpea,chickpea,etc.4.Duri ng this week
the safety precautions for corona is get followed with proper availability of sanitizers and social distancing. 5. The overal l experience of RARC
Mohol,Solapur is very good and excellent.
