Reflection Paper about Philippine Healthcare Delivery System

1. Summary of the topics that were discussed in the video.

* The Department of Health (DOH) in the Philippines has given the following
responsibilities to the various parts of the health care delivery system formulation and
development of national health policies, guidelines, standards, and manuals of
operations for health services and programs; granting of licenses and accreditations;
promulgation of national health standards, goals, priorities, and indicators; development
of special health programs and By providing and delivering health services, as well as
by regulating and supporting suppliers of health goods and services, the Department of
Health's main goal is to promote, protect, preserve, or restore the health of the
population. Level I (Primary Level of Health Care Facility) includes rural health units,
their sub-centers, chest clinics, malaria eradication units, and schistosomiasis control
units, which are directly operated by the DOH; puericulture centers, which are run by
the League of Puericulture Centers; tuberculosis clinics and hospitals run by the
Philippine Tuberculosis Society; private clinics, clinics, and hospitals; and The Level II
hospitals, which include emergency and regional hospitals, are the smaller, non-
departmentalized hospitals. There are different categories of healthcare workers. In the
Philippines, there are three levels of health professionals. These are the first-line
hospital staff, the middle-level health workers, and the village or grassroots health
workers. The first points of contact with the community and the first connections to
healthcare are the village or grassroots health workers. They engage in activities aimed
at raising the socioeconomic standing of the community, such as food production
programs, and offer straightforward curative and preventive health care measures,
which promote a healthy environment.

2. Reflection/Insight about the video. What do you think is its impact or benefits to
the community? What are the things that they can do more in order to improve
the Philippine Healthcare Delivery System?
* The Philippines' healthcare system is steadily getting better despite the country's
problems. This is as a result of government initiatives that are moving the nation toward
a unified system. PhilHealth therefore offers all Filipino citizens free medical care. The
main obstacles to high-quality healthcare in the Philippines are a lack of hospitals and
surgical supplies. In the Philippines, half of the population lives in rural areas where
there are occasionally no licensed doctors and inadequate facilities with malfunctioning
medical equipment. Greater cities are home to the majority of the best medical facilities.
Upgrade medical facilities and hospitals. We must deal with this issue since it is the
most fundamental. How can we care for our people if we lack the facilities, tools, and
medications To change this, we must not only increase the budgets of these hospitals,
but also hire capable, forward-thinking hospital administrators who will know how to use
the extra funding. To quickly upgrade the hospital's capabilities, the director must be
able to manage the facility effectively, raise money, and enter public-private
partnerships.
* The Philippine Healthcare system is a complex system and yet evolving from time.
Although there might be challenges to Social Determinants to health, Health system
solidity and Health engagement in development towards issues in equity, Successive
reform efforts in these areas has been improved by the government nowadays in the
health system. Even so, problems that arise in social determinants to health such as
social stratification, wherein the lower class gets most of the diseases compared to the
upper class, the government has been doing reforms and interventions on several
projects and publications
