Conjunctions of cause and effect are used to express the reason or the result of an action.

What Are Conjunctions of Cause and Effect?

Conjunctions of cause and effect are subordinating conjunction that are used to link a dependent clause to an
independent clause.

Why Do We Use Conjunctions of Cause and Effect?

Conjunctions of cause and effect are used to indicate the reason or in some cases, the result of an action. Here
are a few examples:
I was cold, so I closed the window.

She was mad because he didn't buy her flowers.

Here is the conjunction of effect:
• So

I finally got my driving license, so my dad decided to buy me a car.
WHEN WE USE CAUSE AND EFFECT?
• CAUSE
THE WORD CAUSE IN ENGLISH CAN BE INCLUDED IN THE NOUN OR VERB
CATEGORY. AT NOUN MEANS SOMEONE OR SOMETHING THAT CAUSES
SOMETHING TO HAPPEN. THE VERB MEANS THE ACTION THAT MAKES
SOMETHING HAPPEN
EXAMPLE:
1. ) THE CAUSE (NOUN) OF FIRE WAS THE ELECTRICAL SHORT
2.) THE ELECTRICAL SHORT CAUSED ( VERB ) THE FIRE .
• EFFECT
JUST LIKE CAUSE, EFFECT CAN ALSO BE SEEN IN NOUN OR VERB
SENTENCES.
IN NOUN MEANS CHANGE WHICH IS THE RESULT OF AN ACTION OR
CAUSE. WHEREAS IN VERB , EFFECT IS WRITTEN AS AFFECT WHICH
MEANS TO PRODUCE AN EFFECT OR CAUSE A CHANGE IN
SOMETHING .
EXAMPLE :
1.) DID THE NOISE HAVE AN EFFECT ( NOUN ) ON YOUR
CONCENTRATION ?
2.) DID THE NOISE AFFECT ( VERB ) YOUR CONCENTRATION ?
WHICH IS A CHARACTERISTIC OF A CAUSE AND EFFECT CHAIN?
THERE ARE THREE CRITERIA THAT MUST BE MET TO ESTABLISH A CAUSE-EFFECT RELATIONSHIP:
THE CAUSE MUST OCCUR BEFORE THE EFFECT. WHENEVER THE CAUSE OCCURS, THE EFFECT
MUST ALSO OCCUR. THERE MUST NOT BE ANOTHER FACTOR THAT CAN EXPLAIN THE
RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE CAUSE AND EFFECT.

FOR EXAMPLE, A MAN OFFENDS HIS NEIGHBOR BY INSULTING HIM (THE CAUSE). HIS NEIGHBOR
BECOMES ANGRY (THE EFFECT AND THE NEXT CAUSE) AND HE IN TURN TELLS HIS FRIENDS (THE
NEXT EFFECT AND CAUSE). HIS FRIENDS ALSO BECOME ANGRY (ANOTHER EFFECT AND CAUSE)
AND TELL THEIR FRIENDS (ANOTHER EFFECT AND CAUSE)
