D. Lesson Proper Now, Let us fill in the gaps.

Activity Each one of you can try to fill the gaps on the
following words that i will present.
If you want to answer just raise your hand,
come in front and write the missing letters.

Ready?

Let’s start with the first word

Yes Princess!

How did you find the activity?
(Students will tell their
experiences filling the
gaps)
What can you say about the words that you
have guessed?

Ma’am, I think these

are the Elements of
Communication
Nice guess! Because you are correct!
Analysis Our topic for this morning is about the Elements
of Communication.

Let’s have the words that you encountered a

while ago.

Will you please enumerate them once again?

(Students will
enumerate the
following elements)
NOISE
SPEAKER
CHANNEL
RESPONSE
MESSAGE
LISTENER
FEEDBACK
COMMUNICATIVE
SITUATION
Now, let’s start with a scenario

(The teacher will flash a scenario)

Who do you think the speaker in this scenario.

Who wants to come here in front and point it
out for me.
Ma’am! Let me point
Yes Clark! it out!

(The student will point

it out)
Thank you! You are correct!.

SPEAKER is the first element, he is the one

who chooses his/her purpose, crafts the message
accordingly, and decides how to deliver it.

Meaning to say, the speaker starts the

conversation, he is the sender and the receiver is
the?

Yes! Joanne!
The Listener ma’am!

Nice try! You are correct! That is the second

element.

The LISTENER receives the message.

It is the listener who makes sense of what is
said and reacts to it.

But how can we react if there is no what? Who

can guess the next element?
Ayen!
I think it’s the channel
ma’am?
Nice try Ayen! But maybe there’s still another
answer?

Yes Aldrich!
Message ma’am
Very Good!

The MESSAGE is what needs to be delivered or

imparted to somebody else.
This is the center of the process.
Why? What? How?

Did you get the point so far?

Yes ma’am!
Let’s proceed

If the SPEAKER sends the MESSAGE to the

LISTENER, what could happen next?
(a student will answer)
Maybe just end the
conversation?
If that’s the case do you think it’s the end of our
discussion?
(a student will answer)
No ma’am, I guess
there should be
another response.

You’ve got it Sean! That’s great

The next element is RESPONSE

It is the reaction of the listener/receiver

decoding the message. Once a receiver is
exposed to a message, there are several possible
responses.
For example, when you read a chat message
from your crush, you may feel “kilig” or
embarrassed.

We tend to give our FEEDBACK after we react

and that is an element as well.
It is the response by the receiver. It marks the
completion of the communication process.
Feedback ensures that the receiver has received
the message and understood in the same sense
as sender meant it.

Nowadays we respond and give our feedbacks

through a lot of things such as?
(a student will answer)
Messenger?
(a student will answer)
Instagram?
Your answers are near! Those are what we call
social media and to be able to use them we have
what we call CHANNEL.

Depending on the channel, a message can

change.
It also called as the medium, is the means by
which a message is transmitted.

Ex: cellphones, microphone, laptop etc.

Will you please give me other than my

examples
(Students will give
their answers)
Good job!

Sometimes when we communicate to other

people it doesn’t mean that we have cellphone
to use we can already have a successful
conversation, there will always be a hindrance
and that is what we call NOISE.
It is the hindrance in the process of
communication. It can take place at any step in
the entire process. It reduces the accuracy of
communication.
● EXAMPLES: Disturbance in the
telephone lines, 2) An inattentive
listener, 3) Improper Decoding of
Message etc.
● It could be physical, physiological, or
psychological.
○ PHYSICAL NOISE- This is
any barrier to communication
that comes from the environment
(e.g., loud sound, construction
noise, etc.) where the exchange
is happening.
○ PHYSIOLOGICAL NOISE-
This happens when the body
itself becomes the hindrance in
the communication process. (e.g.
when you have stomachache,
you will feel uneasy and can’t
focus on communicating).
○ PSYCHOLOGICAL NOISE-
This type of noise happens when
the barrier to communication is
caused by the inability of the
brain to make sense of the
message due to some problem.
(e.g. when you feel stressed).
And ofcourse the last element is the
COMMUNICATIVE SITUATION.

This is the setting and situation in which

communication takes place.
It has two components:
The physical location (the environment)
The psychological setting (the readiness of the
mind of the participants).

Application Activity 2: Pick a picture!

The teacher will prepare different pictures with
scenarios inside the box and the students have
to pick, identify and explain what elements of
communication is present.
