Road SAFETY

Road safety is a critical issue in India, where there is a road accident every minute and a fatal accident every three minutes. Each year, approximately 1.5 lakh people die in road accidents in India, amounting to over 400 deaths per day. Poor driving is a major contributing factor, and India has been ranked fourth in a list of countries with the worst drivers. To address this issue, initiatives focus on improving driver training, increasing traffic awareness, and reducing accidents through public education campaigns.

Road SAFETY

Operators Perspective
 Indian roads have long been dominated by heavy traffic and rash
driving.

 Every year, road accidents claim the lives of approximately 1.5 lakh
people in the country. That amounts to over 400 deaths every day, as
per the latest data.

 Road Safety is critical issue as in India, there is a road accident every

minute, whereas one fatal accident takes every three minutes.

 The analysis of road accident data 2021 (NCRB) reveals that about
1,104 accidents and 426 deaths take place every day on Indian roads,
which further translates into 46 accidents and loss of 18 lives on an
average, every hour, in our country.

 Among other factors responsible for this grave situation, bad driving
is a prominent one.

 Now, a study by UK-based insurance price comparison website,

Compare The Market, has ranked India fourth in a list of countries
with the worst drivers.
There are many dimensions to the problem.

Unfortunately India does not have as many running initiatives or

organizations and we too, are not huge to address all issues.

We thus have focused only on behavioral aspect of driving training, which

nobody is currently into and we believe, this is the most critical area which
if addressed properly has the potential to significantly bring down
casualties.
Safety is a key concern for our road activities.

Whether you are traveling in the crowded urban

streets or Four-Lane Highways, driving is always a
tough task.

Road Safety should always be our main concern

as serious accidents often occur when drivers
make poor decisions, such as driving too fast or
turning too quickly.

Navigating the road and traffic conditions and keep the morale high is a real challenge.

Imagine the immense stress faced by the heavy-vehicle drivers who carry tons of loads from one corner to corner
of India.

They have to drive in the heavy traffic of cities and poorly maintained highways.

Growing needs of timely delivery of material movement put further pressure on them.

The drivers are forced to drive continuously without a break. It increases the risk of mishaps
Health consequences of traffic accidents in the country every year are
very significant.

It is therefore imperative to deal with transport safety, from road safety

deficits to behaviour issues of drivers, in order to reduce the number
of killed and injured people.

Objectives:
• Influence behaviour of drivers through preventive traffic education
• Increase awareness on traffic issues
• Reduce the number of traffic accidents
• Public campaign to eliminate dangerous behaviour of drivers,
pedestrains and increase awareness about road safety issues
It is the shared responsibility of governments, social partners
and road transport chain parties to protect the public,
passengers and other road users against preventable crashes
and dangers, including those resulting from decent work
deficits of Commercial Vehicle Drivers.
Decent work deficits of road freight and long-distance passenger
transport services.

Anyone & Everyone
Drive Safety Campaigns
To raise awareness about causes and consequences of traffic accidents

 Public events (safe trips to schools, half-marathon)

 Traffic training (equipment and training materials for local traffic
court for children)
 Workshops with students and seniors
 Educational materials
 Promotion in local media (newspaper, local TV, radio, web)
 International conference on Safe Transport Infrastructure
The drivers are the backbone of the transport business.

Angry drivers can easily lose their concentration and cause

accidents.

Hence, they should be given the maximum importance.

They should be trained about the effective safety measures,

preventive maintenance and defensive driving,
truck driving vehicles.
The government has been implementing a multi-pronged road
safety approach.

This is based on

 education to generate awareness,

 engineering of both roads and vehicles,

 better enforcement of rules and regulations, and

 providing emergency care to minimise the loss of life due to

accidents.
