The Hespori is a sporadic boss located in a cave found within the west wing of the Farming Guild, requiring 65 Farming to access (boostable). To fight it, enter the cave and plant a Hespori seed in the patch there. The seed takes 22–32 hours to grow, depending on planting time. When fully grown, the flower behind the cave entrance will bloom, signifying that the seed is ready to be harvested using a spade.

Attempting to harvest the seed will spawn the Hespori. After killing it the seed may be harvested, granting 12,600 Farming experience (12,915 with full Farmer's outfit) and a range of seeds including the rare white lily and anima seeds. There is also a 1/35 chance to drop the bottomless compost bucket.

History[edit | edit source]

According to Arno, the Hespori is a rare carnivorous plant originating from Morytania, becoming conscious and highly aggressive once fully grown. They were also used as a weapon against vampyres by Queen Efaritay.[1] The Hespori's appearance is also extremely similar to that of The Maiden of Sugadinti and it has been confirmed that there is a link between the two.[2] This link is confirmed in the quest A Night at the Theatre, in which it is revealed that the Maiden was created using Hespori bark, which possesses regenerative properties.[3]

A harder version of the Hespori is fought during A Night at the Theatre quest.

Fight overview[edit | edit source]

A player battles the Hespori.
A defeated Hespori.

Mechanics[edit | edit source]

The Hespori is surrounded by four flower buds that keep it invulnerable while it attacks the player. These buds open three times during the fight, on initiation of the fight and again when the Hespori has 66% and 33% health remaining. Each bud has 10 hitpoints but will die in one hit from any weapon.

The Hespori has a ranged attack, a magic attack and a special attack:

Ranged Attack:

Throws green spores that hit twice with a max hit of 8+8 (reduced to 2+2 with Protect from Missiles).

Magic Attack:

A green wave with a max hit of 14 (reduced to 3 with Protect from Magic).

Special Attack:

Hespori entangles you in some vines! will appear in the chatbox when the Hespori uses this special attack, with roots immobilizing the player preventing movement and attacks. After 6 seconds (10 ticks) the player will take 40+ damage unless they break free early by clicking repeatedly on either a new tile or the Hespori, or by using a Transformation Ring. As you click You feel the vines loosen slightly as you try to move. will appear in the chatbox and after the 5th such message, clicking again will prevent the special attack and allow the player to move and attack again.

Setup/Strategy[edit | edit source]

Hespori has low slash Defence, making slash weapons the best option. At least level 60 melee stats, a dragon scimitar, and high Ranged defence or Strength bonus equipment is recommended. A special attack weapon such as a dragon dagger can be used to quickly deal damage.

Bring high healing food, antipoison, melee stat boosts, and optionally a Ranged weapon, such as darts or a charged blowpipe to quickly kill Hespori's flowers. Some players may wish to save potions and instead catch one of the stat boosting butterflies outside the guild. A Prayer potion may be required if the fight lasts too long.

A hespori seed, spade and seed dibber (if the Farming portion of Barbarian Training has not been completed) are required to plant a new Hespori after the previous Hespori has been defeated and dug up.

Before waking up the Hespori, boost, get poison immunity and equip a Ranged weapon. With high Ranged Defence armour, turn on Protect from Magic, otherwise use Protect from Missiles if using higher Magic Defence armour. Also use melee stat boosting Prayers if available.

Wake up the Hespori, and attack the first round of flowers with Ranged. Swap to a special attack weapon and use the special attacks on Hespori. Switch back to the main slash weapon if the next round of flowers were not activated. Kill the flowers with ranged. If the fight lasts longer than 30-40 seconds, the player will be rooted in place and must escape the vines by clicking to move or attack 7 times. Attack the Hespori until the flowers are active again. Switch to Ranged and kill them again. Finish off Hespori.

Clear the Hespori patch to receive its drops.

  1. ^ Range is the chance from 65 to 99. The chance increases with the player's Farming level, and is calculated with the formula: 1B(Lvl*25), where B is the base chance (7000 for Hespori) and Lvl is the player's Farming level. For more information, see Tangleroot.
