Xenia is one of the seven Signature Heroes, and a veteran adventurer. She was released along with the quest The Blood Pact, the first Free-to-play quest to be released since 2003, and the Lumbridge Catacombs.
If the player speaks to Xenia in Lumbridge with 300 or more quest points, they can obtain the helmet of trials, a decorative helmet worn by players to show off their progress in questing. After Heart of Stone she is replaced by Ilona at the Lumbridge Cemetery.
Personality[edit | edit source]
Xenia has adventured for a long time, and is mostly now concerned with ensuring there are enough other heroes to overcome future challenges. She is very deceitful, as shown in quests The Blood Pact and Carnillean Rising, and is willing to take dire risks, often with others' lives.
Capabilities[edit | edit source]
Xenia has worked with many famous heroes, and has picked up knowledge about many subjects. Her personal capabilities, however, are relatively unknown.
Locations[edit | edit source]
As with all the Signature Heroes, Xenia can be found in many locations throughout RuneScape. After Heart of Stone she can no longer be found in game until Nomad's Elegy. After that she is found in Limbo.

History[edit | edit source]
Adventuring Career[edit | edit source]
Xenia is of a previous generation of adventurers. She has worked with many famous heroes, including Radimus Erkle, Harrallak, Shanomi, and the Wise Old Man. Together with Radimus, she founded the Champions', Heroes', and Legends' Guilds. She has been to the Eastern Lands, and was part of the expedition to map the Kharazi Jungle.
Years ago, Xenia had a son. At some point after 143 V,[Notes 1] her son became involved with the Black Arm Gang in Varrock. Xenia did not approve, but reasoned that his choices were his own. After being sent to extort some merchants, he suffered a fatal stab wound in a confrontation with the merchants' guards. He died in Xenia's arms shortly afterwards. Xenia blamed herself for his death, which became a major source of guilt and shame in her life.[2]
Seeing Potential[edit | edit source]
In year 169 of the Fifth Age, she flags down a passing adventurer to help her save Ilona, a wizard who was abducted by a Zamorakian cult to open the catacombs of Dragith Nurn. After the adventurer defeats them, she reveals to them that it was a test since she is getting older, and that she wanted to see that the world would be protected by the young generation of heroes. After the catacombs are opened, the adventurer can enter Dragith's catacombs to obtain several statuettes inside, which can be traded to her for some rewards.
She was later hired by Ceril Carnillean to help turn her son, Philipe Carnillean, from a snobby brat to an aspiring adventurer. Xenia accepted and poked in the underground system before leaving, much to Ceril's frustration. Xenia later met with the same adventurer from before and informed them about Ceril's problem. If the adventurer sided with Hazeel's cult, she also made sure to put them in good standing.
The adventurer created a quest for Philipe, which was boring as Ceril wanted it to be as safe as possible. Near the end of the quest, they were attacked by a cave wolf matriarch, which the adventurer recognised as Xenia's work. The adventurer confronted Xenia over this, who told them that she found the wolf and her pups living in there, and that there had be an unknown danger to arouse Philipe's excitement; if he had failed, the adventurer could step in to stop it. The wolf attack has made Philipe stronger and created a desire for him to go adventuring around the world, much to his father's delight.
Death[edit | edit source]
Xenia somehow made contact with a creature from the Abyss, which informed her of The Great Revision. Believing that the Elder Gods had to be stopped at all cost, she took matters to her own hands by attempting to dump Gielinor's Anima Mundi into the Abyss, killing an innocent man Corvusa and stole Ariane's research. She had a brief scuffle with Ariane as the adventurer arrives and tries to break up the fight.
She teleported away afterwards, and Ariane proceeded to give the adventurer Kipple, a rune golem designed to track down people based on the magic residue from teleportation. While Kipple and the adventurer track down Xenia, she goes to the chambers of BikKra, JasKra, FulKra and WenKra, taking out a "piece" from them. Kipple and the adventurer tracked her down at the Lumbridge Catacombs at a fifth, unexplained elder chamber where she has created a portal. Ariane appears and proclaims that she will kill Xenia if she continues to do this, but she is unfazed by it. Ariane then launches a magic projectile at Xenia, throwing her into the portal and killing her. Azzanadra can be informed of the events, where he shows disgust at her misguided actions as she had brought the world closer to ruin rather than saving it.
Upon arriving at Limbo, Xenia decided to discard her shame and guilt, leaving out most of her memories. After the World Guardian, who was tasked by Death and Icthlarin to get allies to assist in overthrowing Nomad, finds her, but she is a hollow shell of what she used to be. To get her memories going, the player finds her shame and guilt memories, combines them, and uses it on her. Regaining her memories, she apologises to them for her reckless actions.
She later assists the group by fending off the waves of Ascended who attempt to attack the ram. After encountering Gielinor, she offers to take out the Ascended on the lower floor before they realise what is going on and attack Death, Icthlarin and the adventurer. After Nomad is defeated and Gielinor is killed, she tells Death that even though Sliske took Nomad away, they should still cherish the victory they had. After the battle, she decides to stay in the Underworld to atone for her sins.

Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Xenia is also the name of the Greek concept of hospitality, generosity, and courtesy shown to those who are far from home (see: ξένια, transliterated xenia (etymology), Xenia (Hellenic concept)). This is ironic, considering how she actually treats others. This irony is potentially an oxymoronic play on the nickname Ξένια, (transliterated, Xenia) (historically in association with Πολυξένη (transliterated, Polyxena), both the names of Polyxena, a saint and Polyxena, a princess in Hellenic mythology), which brings to mind conflicting elements of ξένια ("hospitality") and ξένος (transliterated, xenos) ("stranger").
- Depending on which quests the player has completed, Xenia will respond to "How did you know my name?" in several different ways:
- If the player is a non-member and has not completed Dragon Slayer, Xenia will claim that she "heard you helped Sir Vant kill a dragon in Roddeck's cellar" (she will say it even if you've completed Tutorial Island or Learning the Ropes).
- If you have completed Vampyre Slayer, she will say that Dr Harlow has told her all about you.
- If the player has completed Dragon Slayer, she will say that she heard through the Champions' Guild that the player slew Elvarg.
- If the player has completed the Legends' Quest, she will claim she heard of the player through her contacts in the Legends' Guild.
- If the player has in excess of 290 quest points, she will say "You're a legend even in the Legends' Guild! It's a pleasure to meet you."
- Before her graphical update, Xenia stayed in one place, and looked older and less battle-worn.
- Xenia plays a small role in one of the Lumbridge and Draynor Tasks that has no difficulty, where the player must escort a wounded man to her.
- In one possible conversation with Xenia, she reveals that there have been vampyres, other than Count Draynor, sighted west of the River Salve in her lifetime, and that she has helped to kill them.
- As revealed in the third Above the Lore podcast, Xenia is over 58 years old.
- As revealed in the podcast of 27 November 2014 (#26), Mod Raven wanted to kill off Xenia for a long time.
- Xenia is the second Signature Hero to die, after Sir Owen during The Death of Chivalry.
- Her severed head can be found in New Varrock in Zemouregal's bedroom. The examine text "Not quite the warrior princess she thought she was." references the TV series Xena: Warrior Princess.
