Exodus 23:1 do not spread false rumours.
This book is presented more like an actual account of facts than a story. A story of how good intentioned people get it all wrong. I think Emma and her mother should have been called in for counselling immediatley. Instead, someone shouts "child abuse" and the system goes into overdrive. Suddenly you are guilty until proven innocent. The matter was thrown out by the police and it should have ended there. However once the malicious gossip starts there is no turning back. People are so quick to turn against another person or family and show how nasty and vindictive they can be behind those friendly welcoming false smiles. I'm sure there are many other families that have been ruined by false accusations when accusing someone of abuse is such an easy thing to do. This makes it all the more difficult for those that have been truly abused. I am not going to judge Machelle as she has been judged by too many people already and I am sure she was doing what she thought was the right way to handle a very difficult and distressing situation for her and her children. This sort of exclusion and harrasment goes on by parents and children in every school everywhere. She needs to know her husband is innocent, tell her children this and get on with her life. After reading this I can see why people are moving away from churches in droves.

The story started well with all the ingredients for a great childrens fantasy.A sulky 12 year old, old strange grandfather, forbidden room and spooky people. The story was very simply written with lots of short sentences. More suitable for the 10 and under age group. Too much detail and explanation about every event detracted from the suspense. The authors attempt to make Max seem like any ordinary 12 year old boy made him come across as hesitant and unsure and a little annoying. Max's character didn't develop during the story. He was still very unsure of himself right up until the end. Cindy is a much more convincing protagonist. Loved the twist and really didn't see it coming. I hope in the next book Max really steps up and shows those baddies what he's made of. Like the new version of the cover.

He lives his whole life by this app which can be quite annoying to his friends.
I give this 4 stars as a childrens read, the upper age would be 13 years. Any older readers would probably see Alexander as pretty lame. There is a lot here that kids would find pretty funny and things they could relate to also. The part where the video of Alexander went viral on utube is very fitting, this would have put him up a few notches on the cool radar. Utube famous is famous even if you're making an idiot of yourself.
Now as a parent reader the book was a bit different.I saw his worry about bullying as paranoia. if this was true to life the boy should have been in counselling or seen a phycologist. This problem was affecting his whole life. He was thirteen and his parents were never home, he was left to bring himself up alone with no-one to talk to about his problems.

I would have liked the story to be more detailed. I wanted to know more about the family and their hardships and what they were going through. As I was reading I was craving to know more about how Peter coped in the prison camp and his long journey back home and again later with Galia how she felt to escape the oppression of Russia only to be thrown into the centre of racism in America. The journey out of Russia for the Grechko family was nothing short of a miracle. Galia never gave up and when she did feel like it was all too much for her God gave her strength and she pushed through. I admire Galia's commitment and perseverance not only to better the life of her own family but for all christians in Russia. "Rush" definitely left me wanting more!

Loving this series! I'm being totally drawn into the world of Unison. Sometimes I find myself shouting at Sereh "why are you always so stubborn". Erann manages to get himself trapped in a sort of limbo and needs Sereh and Greeneyes to save him yet again. This time they will also need the help of the Librarian. Flashbacks fill in important information on who people are and more of their personal stories and why things are as they are on Unison. The story is perfectly paced and all the characters are so likeable.

After the the first murder it's like oh this is so obvious, but as the story moved along it's not so obvious afterall. The plot is very well written and even though you suspect a few different characters you never actually suspect the true murderer. The last chapter when the islanders look back and talk about all that had happened during there stay isn't really necessary and is a bit off a come down after the big finale. Overall this was a great who dunnit, mystery, thriller.

If you like your novels to be well researched and believable you will be happy with this one. Every detail was explained and obviously well researched. This was the second book in the series. However, pre events were well explained so you knew exactly what was going on. A lot of characters were introduced at the beginning of the story which was a bit confusing but I soon got used to who was who. The book is hard to read if you have a lot of distractions around you (and I have many)and I had to keep backtracking to understand what was going on in the story. I found this made the story a bit too long for me. This is a novel full of intrigue and danger. Blakes ADHD was handled well during the story. I didn't feel a connection with any of the characters. Blake was annoying in that he was so self centred but then again maybe that was part of his ADHD. When I thought about which characters I actually liked in the novel the two that came to mind were Perry Langford ( who I thought was the true protagonist) and Chance Reno.
My rating 3.5 stars

All the males seem to have affairs because they feel inadequate, but it only seems to make them feel worse. The women in the story are all so pathetic, always thinking about the money side of their relationship.Josphine finally tells her husband to leave only because he is no longer making any money. The only characters that were likeable were the tough Henriette and Mylene. Mylene was my only salvation. Finally a female that can do something for herself and by herself. There were a couple of twist that made me smile but were a bit cliched. Slowly everyone comes to grips with the circumstances and take their lives into their own hands. Josephine, Josiane, Phillipe all making big moves. I think if chicklit is your preferred genre it would be 4 or 5 star.

Green: Book Three in The Dragon of Unison Trilogy.
I've really come to like the way the story is retold by two or three different perspectives. It gives light to how each person was feeling as the events were happening. Also gives extra little insights that each person observed that maybe one of the others didn't. Emma is taken back in time to witness her younger self and some drastic events that shaped her life. Can she do anything to change these events and stop a tradgedy occurring? I can't say much about the story line because anything I write will be a spoiler. There is so much happening as everyone moves forward to a new future.Although there is no real hint as to what this might entail yet. During the story more of the past is revealed explaining how the dragons and humans came to live apart and the rules of their continued existence. Sereh becomes a little love struck and I was worried she was going to lose her high-spiritedness. But it wasn't long before she was off again getting herself into trouble. It was good to see a little evil coming from Rankil in this book. I really need to have good reason to dislike the villian in a story. The only thing wrong with this book ( and I have to say it didn't really worry me that much but I know some people can get very annoyed by this) was all the mistakes. She instead of the, must instead of much. There were alot of them.
However on a great note the Trilogy has now turned into a Series with book 4 Red now available. Yeay!!!...more

The story moved along nicely at the begining, tying in the different gangs and police departments. The story jumps back and forward between a few different storylines and I was intrigued how each story paned out and how the author linked them together. I loved how everyone thought they were in charge, the police thought they were running the show, the bikies think they are and the asian gangs think they are so it all goes round in circles with everyone passing information( true and false) back and forward. There were no hints as to how events would be eventually linked,so it was surprise after surprise as the story unfolded and got better and better from laugh out loud moments to heart pounding suspense. The build up of tension - not knowing if the characters are going to survive and then the story would jump back to another scene just to leave the reader hanging a little longer. All the characters were quite engaging, like them ar not. I developed a soft spot for our hero Cato Kwong. I see him akin to Jackie Chan's DI Lee in Rush hour. Allways in the wrong place at the right time and still managing to add a little humour to even the most dour situation. Cato Kwong is just one of lifes losers, he's a nice honest cop but everything just seems to go wrong for him. He takes his son out to see fireworks for some father and son time and ends up chasing a criminal and getting himself stabbed.Another time he has had a hard day his wound has been hurting and the weather is unbearably hot, he decides to go for a swim in the ocean. The water is cool and the sky is blue and he starts to think life is not that bad after all then suddenly he gets stung on the arm - straight back to reality. I would recommend this book , it was an easy read, the storyline was interesting. There were characters you will like and also some you will dislike but you will continue to think about them long after you have closed the book.

One sign of a really good story is if the characters continue to roam through your mind long after you have closed the book and are supposed to be asleep.I found this was the case with Zellohar . The characters were very engaging. Avari wasn't the usual reluctant hero/ine ("I have to save the world but I'm just a poor farm boy/girl" scenario) she goes in head-on all guns blazing. I just loved all the characters, the little messengers, the orcs, the dumb ogres. I even felt a little bit of sympathy for Iveron. This was a fabulous teen read, very poignant. the story had so many facets and underlying messages about the decisions we all make everyday and how they will affect our lives and the lives of others. The two main characters both live in single parent families due to entirely different circumstances. the story covers social issues that many teens have to face such as alcoholism, chil becoming the carer, physical and mental abuse in the home and unplanned pregnancies. nice little country versus city quips and an unexpected twist near the end (love a good twist).Loved the cover photograph. Under fire is the second Dan Taylor novel by Rachel Amphlett. However not having read the first book I found this novel stood on its own quite well. I think the story started off a bit slow and I understand the author was trying to set the scene but I found some of the lengthy descriptions were irrelevant.I love how the story evovled and changed without giving away too much. Sometimes I found little questions popping up in my head only to find if you keep reading the author has anticipated these thoughts and answered them further in the book. The twist towards the end was a little expected and then there was the twist on the twist. That was unexpected and I love that. It left me finishing the book and thinking "wow, that was good". I think I will go back now and read White Gold to see where it all started....more
