Overall info about the exam:


Multiple choice, terminology, political cartoon analysis, short answer (paragraph), and long
answer (multi-paragraph). Will take approx. 1.5 hours to complete

You will need to be able to do the following:

6. How the electoral system works in Canada

World War I
1. What are the various causes of World War I? How did each cause play a part in starting the war?
2. How did Canada become involved in this war? What was their role?
3. What were the alliances during the war? Who supported who?
4. How did people back in Canada (the home front) support the war effort?
5. What was the role of women during the war? (both on the battlefront and at home). How did
women benefit from this war?
6. What kind of warfare or battle tactics were used during World War I?
7. The major battles Canadians fought in and what happened during those battles.
8. What happened at the end of the war? What were the solutions that nations came up with to

the purpose of the proxy wars?
5. What are the “hot spots” during the Cold War? (think skirmishes or points of tension)

happen?
