Seek professional engineering evaluation to determine the structural impact and potential risks associated
with the removal and dismantling of GRC and ACP panels. This evaluation will help establish safe
methodologies and precautions.
Structural Integrity:
Assess the structural integrity of the GRC and ACP panels and the supporting framework.
Access Equipment:
Determine the appropriate access equipment required for the removal and dismantling process. This may
include scaffolding, MEWP cranes, and scissor lifts. Ensure the equipment is suitable for the specific
requirements of the project.
Waste Management:
Plan for proper waste management and disposal of the GRC and ACP panels and associated materials.
Arrange for waste containers, protective sheets, or designated areas for collecting and disposing of the panels
in compliance with local regulations and Facility management.
Main Contractor:

Dubai Internet City Main Work – Phase 03,
Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Project No: PJ-103 Method Statement for Demolition Date: 09/06/2023
Documentation:
Maintain proper documentation of the removal and dismantling process, including records of risk
assessments, permits, approvals, inspections, ITP, licenses, certificates, and any engineering evaluations.
These documents are crucial for compliance, accountability, and future reference.
2. Precautions:
Before starting the removal process, the following precautions should be taken:
Conduct a thorough risk assessment of the work area.
Obtain the necessary permits and approvals for the removal work by Point Contracting.
Ensure all personnel involved in the process are adequately trained and equipped with appropriate
personal protective equipment (PPE).
Secure the area and cordon it off to prevent unauthorized access.
Consider environmental factors such as wind speed, weather conditions, and the potential impact on
nearby structures.
4. Removal Procedure:
The ACP removal process typically involves the following steps:
a. Access Preparation:
Install safety harnesses and ensure all personnel are secured when working at heights.
Identify and disconnect any utilities or services that may be attached to the ACP panels, such as
electrical cables or plumbing.
b. Panel Dismantling:
Inspect the ACP panels for any signs of damage or deterioration. Take necessary precautions if
panels are found to be unstable.
Remove any fixings or fasteners securing the panels to the structure. This may involve unscrewing
screws, removing rivets, or cutting through adhesives.
Starting from the top, carefully pry the panels away from the structure using pry bars or crowbars.
Take care not to damage the underlying structure or adjacent panels.
If required, cut through the panels using cutting tools to facilitate the removal process. Protect Glass
with Fire Blanket and Follow appropriate safety procedures while using power tools with (Safety
Sticker).
c. Panel Disposal:
As each panel is removed, place it gently on protective sheets to prevent damage and avoid injury.
Store the removed panels in waste containers or designated areas for proper disposal or recycling,
according to local regulations.
Clean the work area after each panel removal to ensure a safe and organized environment.
d. Final Checks:
Inspect the structure and surrounding areas for any issues that may have arisen during the removal
process. If any damage or issues occurs this needs to be coordinated to Point Contracting.
4. Waste Management:
Dispose of the ACP panels and any associated waste in accordance with local regulations and Facility
management.

5. Conclusion:
The above method statement provides a general guideline for the safe removal of ACP panels. It is
important to adapt and modify these steps based on the specific requirements of the project and any
additional risks identified during the risk assessment. Prioritize safety and adhere to all relevant
regulations and industry best practices throughout the removal process.
3.2.1 Preparations:
GFRC (Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete) panel to be removed, considering its weight, size, and
attachment points.
Ensure the machine to be used is capable of lifting and handling the weight of the panel which is
up to 120Kg.
Verify that the machine is in good working condition, including its lifting capacity and safety
features.
Secure the work area to ensure the safety of workers and prevent unauthorized access.
Coordinate with the machine operator to lift the panel smoothly and gradually, ensuring stability and
control throughout the process.
Follow the instructions provided by the machine manufacturer for safe lifting and operation.
3.2.7 Housekeeping:
Clear the work area of waste materials resulting from the removal and dismantling process.
Conduct a final inspection with Point Contracting to ensure the site is safe and free from hazards.

that workers are clear of the moving parts.
Gradually and smoothly apply tension to the winch cables or slings to lift the GRC panels from their fixed
positions.
Coordinate with a designated team member to guide the panels as they are lifted, ensuring safe clearance
from surrounding structures and obstacles.
Use the winch to lower the panels carefully to the designated area, maintaining control and avoiding sudden
movements or swinging.
