METHOD OF STATEMENT

PURPOSE :

The purpose of this procedure is to ensure that pavement concrete road work for
concrete pavement activities are executed in accordance with the contract requirements,
hazards are analysed, safety procedures implemented, all quality assurance / control activities
are conducted in a systematic manner, works inspected and documented.

SCOPE:

This procedure is to provide a guideline for the sequence of operations pertaining to


pavement concrete road work to ensure the works and conform to the Standard Specifications
and Client specifications and drawings.

 The Cement to be used shall be the Ordinary Portland cement of grade 53. Test
Certificates from the Manufacturer to ascertain the relevant IS Specification
shall be submitted to client.
 If situations demand other types of cement can be used after relevant
confirmatory trials.

Fine Aggregate:

 Sand shall conform to IS: 383.


 Sand shall be free from excessive silt and other deleterious materials &shall not
contain any trace of salt.
 Sand used in the concrete shall conform to the approved sample in all respects.

Coarse Aggregate:

 Coarse aggregate shall conform to IS: 383 & shall be obtained from approved
quarry with angular shape & free from dust and other deleterious materials.
 Sample source of coarse aggregate to be used shall be submitted to the client for
approval before supplying to the site.
 Coarse aggregate used in the concrete shall conform to the approved sample.

Water:

 Water used for mixing and curing shall conform to the requirements of IS:
456/2000.

 Water shall be clean and free from deleterious substances such as oils, alkalis,
organic materials or other impurities.

 The Test results of water proposed to be used on the job shall be produced for the
approval of Employer’s Representative.

Water used in the work shall conform to the approved sample in all respects.

 Design Mix Concrete shall be prepared in accordance with MORTH (V) Rev.

 The test reports of mix design shall be submitted to the CLIENT


REPRESENTATIVE highlighting the design criteria, analysis and proportioning
of materials and will be formally approved.

BATCHING AND MIXING OF CONCRETE:

 Concrete shall be procured from approved RMC.

 All measuring equipment shall be maintained in a clean and serviceable


condition and their accuracy shall be periodically checked.

 Admixture shall be added to the concrete as assessed in trials to maintain the


workability of concrete.

CONCRETE CONVEYING:

 Concrete shall be handled and conveyed as early as possible, from the place of
mixing to the place of laying before the initial setting time of the concrete.

 Concrete shall be conveyed in such a way that there is no segregation and


maintaining the required consistency and workability.

 Conveying equipment shall be mortar tight, well maintained and free from set
concrete and shall be thoroughly cleaned at the start of the day.
 The maximum free fall of concrete will not be more than 1.5m.

METHODOLOGY FOR LAYING PAVEMENT CONCRETE:


 Laying of subgrade fully compacted and compaction testing confirms and approved
for the client.
 LDPE sheet will be laid on top of the subgrade
 Panel Side shutter will be fixed to match the top of concrete
 Reinforcement steel will be installed as per GFC Drawing.
 Dowel rod of size as per GFC drawings will be provided and Bitumen primer will be
applied

 As per GFC drawing thickness of Isolation/Expansion Joint board will be fixed near
the drain joining area & as per drawing thickness Isolation/Expansion joint board will
be fixed on other areas like Chamber joint, outer area.
 Laying of concrete will be done using screed vibrator.
 Floating the super float on the surface of the concrete until getting the required finish.
 The surface will be finished with brush after floating the Super float.
 Then the Curing will done as per timelines using Gunny clothes or making Pond.
 Groove cutting will be done as per drawings within 24hours from concrete.
 Baker rod and sealant will be provided in mentioned location as per GFC drawings.
