The philosophy of the PNP is Service, honor, Justice. And the core values of the
PNP are Makadiyos, Makabayan, Makatao, and Makakalikasan. The philosophy
and core values of PNP provides a framework for a good ethical conduct,
professionalism, and public service. And it serves as a story organizational
culture to help and build public trust in the PNP Force. And it serves as a moral
compass, establishing the standards and for conduct in carrying out their proper
duty.
ACHIEVEMENTS AND CHALLENGES
The Philippine National Police (PNP) faces myriad challenges, spanning governance,
corruption and national security threats. Hence, securing a strong leadership pipeline
equipped not only to face these challenges, but also to strengthen policing effectiveness
and over-all security sector reforms is crucial. This study aims to map out some of the
main factors that both build or erode key leadership qualities and performance in the
PNP.
The major challenges or problems the PNP is facing right now are the various forms of
unethical conduct among its personnel, including bribery, patronage politics, the cutting
of corners around the criminal justice system, financial corruption, shortcomings in
leadership and violations of human rights. In which, some recent issues the PNP is
facing is the alleged involvement of some police scalawags, including high-ranking
officials, especially in the illegal drug trade.
Explanation
Main challenges or problems that the PNP face are corruption especially bribery which
is committed by both higher and lower ranks. Police are often involved crimes related
illegal drugs. Some high-ranking
officers are protectors of drug lords and influence lower rank officers to join too.

Strategies
The PNP has vowed to fight against corruption within the PNP system through its
massive internal cleansing program.
In Drugs issues are the War on Drugs, Buy bust Operations, Campaigns Against Illegal
Drugs.
IMEG’s functions include receiving complaints and information against erring personnel
and conducting relevant information-gathering activities, detecting and conducting
intelligence buildup on the involvement of PNP personnel in illegal activities, acts of
graft and corruption and other crimes for the conduct of prompt countermeasures, and
initiating law enforcement operations against rogue PNP personnel.
Achievements
Lower drug crime rates
The internal cleansing program of the Philippine National Police (PNP) continued with
greater focus to purge the organization of undesirable personnel who do not conform
with the norms of discipline and proper conduct, Police General Rodolfo S Azurin Jr
stated recently.
CONCLUSION
PNP was established under a reorganized Department of the Interior and Local
Government. The PNP shall enforce the law, prevent and control crimes, maintain
peace and order, and ensure public safety and internal security with the active support
of the community. Its vision is to be effective, to be capable and to be credible police
service. To make these mission and vision successful, they need to be responsible, do
their task whole heartedly. A police officer is needed to be makadiyos, makatao,
makakalikasan at makabansa so that all challenges will be turn into achievement’s.
