B. ENGAGE The teacher put solid objects on the table.

What is on the table?
Who can describe it?
C.EXPLORE
Group Activity. (provide each group with activity sheets.)

Essential Question:
How do you describe solids?

Materials:
A book, a handkerchief, wood, salt, a glass of container, a
spring scale, a beam balance, stones.

Process:
1.Observe the different objects, touch the objects to know
their texture.
2. Describe the size, shape, color, texture and weight of
each object.
3. Write their shape, color, size, texture and mass in the
box.
4. to obtain the mass, we use a beam balance
5. complete the table.
objects size shape color texture mass
big small smooth rough light heavy

6. Get the glass container. Put some stones inside the

container.
7. Find out what happens to the space inside the
container

D. EXPLAIN
Presentation of output by group.
(One representative will present their output)

(Teacher discusss the characteristics of solid)

Guide questions:
1.Do solids have a definite size, shape, color, texture and
weight?
2.Do solids occupy the same space at the same time?
Why?
4. What are solids?
5. Give other examples of solids.

F. ELABORATE
Teacher shows a picture to the class.

Which of these solids occupy more mass and occupy more

space?
Why?
Which of these solids occupy less space and have less
mass? Why?

Ask: What are the characrteristics of solids?

What is mass? What is volume?

G. EVALUATE
Encircle the letter of the correct answer.
1.Which is true about solids?
a. It has no definite shape.
b. It has shape
c.It has no weight

2. Which of the following object is heavy?

a. b. c.

3.Which is best used to obtain the mass of an object?

a. spring balace
b. weighing scale
c. beam balance.

4. Which best describe the texture of an object in

a. big and small
b. rough and smooth
c. light and heavy

5. No solid can occupy the space at the same time. This

means that…
a. Solids can use the same space.
b. Solids has its own volume.
c.Solids can used other occupied space.

H. EXTEND Draw 3 solids that you can found inside in your classroom
and describe its characteristics. Draw a table.
