21st Century Literature- new literary work created within
the last decade. It is written by contemporary authors which
may deal with current themes/ issues and reflects a
technological culture. It often breaks traditional writing
rules.
21st Century Reader -it is using technology as a primary
learning tool. He is capable of navigating and interpreting
digital formats and media messages.
POETRY- is an imaginative awareness of experience
expressed through meaning, sound and rhythmic language
choices to evoke an emotional response.

DRAMA- is a composition in prose or verse presenting in


dialogue or pantomime a story involving conflict more
contrast of character, especially on intended to be acted on a
stage: a play
FICTION- is literature created from the imagination, not
presented as fact, though it may be based on a true story or
situation.
NON-FICTION- is based on facts and the author’s opinion
about a subject. The purpose of non-fiction writing is to
inform and sometimes to persuade. Its examples are
biographies, articles from textbooks and magazines and
newspapers.

B. Lesson Proper

1. Activity (10 minutes)


The students will do the activity.
The teacher will ask “Are there any song that impressed Students will read the following terms.

video clips entitled “Dead Stars” story focusing on the

(After reading, the teacher divided the class for group
work presentation. They identify, describe the event in the song
happen and they give the main idea, they apply to present life
situation).

 Different 21st Literature Genres (Illustrated Novel, Digi-
Fiction, Graphic Novel, Manga, Doodle Fiction, Text- and
Talk Novels.

Our lesson for today is all about the 21 st century genres,


the elements of a literary genre have something to do with the time
and place where a particular literary work was made.

21st Century Literature- refers to new literary work


created within the last decade. It is written by contemporary
authors which may deal with current themes/ issues and
reflects a technological culture. It often breaks traditional
writing rules.
21st Century Reader -a 21st Century Reader grew
up using technology as a primary learning tool. He is capable

of navigating and interpreting digital formats and media


messages. He also possesses literacy skills, which include
technological abilities such as keyboarding, internet
navigation, interpretation of technological speak, ability to
communicate and interpret coded language and decipher
graphics.

The major literary genres

POETRY- is an imaginative awareness of experience


expressed through meaning, sound and rhythmic language
choices to evoke an emotional response. It has been known
to employ meter and rhyme. The very nature of poetry as an
authentic and individual mode of expression makes it nearly
impossible to define.

DRAMA- is a composition in prose or verse presenting in


dialogue or pantomime a story involving conflict more
contrast of character, especially on intended to be acted on a
stage: a play. It may be any situation or series of events
having vivid, emotional, conflicting or striking interest.

FICTION- is literature created from the imagination, not


presented as fact, though it may be based on a true story or
situation. Types of literature in the fiction include the novel, Students read the text on the screen and
short story and novella. will give their answer…

NON-FICTION- is based on facts and the author’s opinion


about a subject. The purpose of non-fiction writing is to
inform and sometimes to persuade. Its examples are
biographies, articles from textbooks and magazines and
newspapers.

the readers?

3. Analysis (15 minutes)

1. What do you notice about your answer? What these


answers tell or describe about the song? Compare and
contrast the answers from the theme, mood of the story
portrayed in the “Dead Stars”.
2. What are the values derived from the story.
3. What are the four conventional literary genres have you
read?
4. What are their unique features?
5. What is the difference of major literary genres?

Get ½ sheet of paper then, Write your good personal
experiences in any of the above literary genres.

I will give you fifteen minutes to finish.
