    This study examined the effect of cued retelling on the reading comprehension of second year students at SMP 36 Batam in the 2014/2015 academic year. It administered pre- and post-tests to experimental and control classes to measure reading comprehension scores before and after the experimental class received cued retelling instruction, while the control class received typical instruction. The results showed that the mean score for the experimental class increased from 68.5 in the pre-test to 81 in the post-test, while the control class mean increased from 67.75 to 72.62. This suggests cued retelling had a positive impact on students' reading comprehension.
