For hereunto verily were ye called, for Christ also suffered for us: leaving us an example that ye should follow his steps, which did no sin, neither was there guile found in his mouth: which when he was reviled, reviled not again: when he suffered, he threatened not: but committed the cause to him that judgeth righteously,
"If a man come to me, and hate not his father and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, moreover and his own life, he cannot be my disciple. And whosoever bear not his cross, and come after me cannot be my disciple.
That spake he signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had said thus, he said to him, "Follow me."

and that no man consider his own, but what is mete for others. Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus:
Hereby are we assured of love: because he left his life for us: And therefore we ought also to give our lives for our brethren.
A new commandment give I unto you: that ye love together: as I have loved you, that even so ye love one another.
