Chronotes are the currency used in the Archaeology skill. Players can spend chronotes in the Archaeology Guild Shop, when sending researchers on expeditions, and when activating a relic power at the mysterious monolith.

Chronotes can be stored in, and withdrawn from, the currency pouch. A maximum of 2,147,483,647 chronotes can be stored in the pouch.

Sources[edit | edit source]

Players may obtain chronotes by handing in restored artefacts to collectors or donating to the museum.

  • Collections can be completed an unlimited number of times and always reward the same amount of chronotes.
    • Most collectors offer chronotes for each artefact handed in, as well as a set bonus of 100% for total 200%.
    • Velucia offers a 25% larger set bonus for completed museum collections for total 225%.
  • Individual artefacts may be donated to the museum donation bin next to the museum guard, northeast of the teleport destination of the Archaeology journal, for 40% of what would be given as part of a collection. However, the donation bin accepts artefacts without limits or restrictions. This is similar to Baby Shakes from the player-owned farm.

Completing each collection exactly once awards the player with a total of 554,464 chronotes, which is about half the amount required to buy all items in the Archaeology Guild Shop. The following table lists the collections, the level required to complete them, as well as cost calculations:

  1. ^ Includes XP from 20 pylon batteries at level 25.
  2. ^ Includes XP from 50 pylon batteries at level 81.
  3. ^ Includes XP from 100 pylon batteries at level 107.
  4. ^ Includes XP from 100 pylon batteries at level 118.

Update history[edit | edit source]

This information has been compiled as part of the update history project. Some updates may not be included – see here for how to help out!
  • update 10 February 2025 (Update):
    • Archaeology Relics can now be harnessed to two loadouts with three Relics each.
      • To maintain a sink for Chronotes, switching the active loadout costs 80% of the Chronote cost of each Relic harnessed to that loadout.
      • If a relic is harnessed to both the selected and active loadout, the Chronote cost of this Relic is also deducted from the loadout activation cost.
  • patch 4 May 2020 (Update):
    • Chronotes can now be added to, and used from, the Currency Pouch.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Chronotes are a portmanteau of "Chronos" (the personification of time in Greek mythology) and "notes" (a British term for money).[1]
  • Chronotes could originally only be stored in the inventory or bank. This was changed on 4 May 2020 to allow them to be added to the Currency Pouch as well.
  • The 1,000 chronotes received as part of the Archaeology tutorial are not tradeable and cannot be added to the currency pouch.
