Institutional Abuse Helpline The Respond helpline was originally set up for the people that had been at Winterbourne View and their families.
It has now been opened up to anyone who has experienced institutional abuse, their friends and their families.
This is a confidential helpline run by trained volunteers.

Revised Advocacy Quality Performance Mark The revised Advocacy Quality Performance Mark was launched on the 3rd of April by the National Development Team for Inclusion.
The Quality Performance Mark is a tool for providers of independent advocacy to show their commitment and ability to provide high quality advocacy services.
This is essential for people to have their voices heard, to exercise choice and control and to live independently.

Eye Doctors Setting Standards to Help Patients The royal College of Ophthalmologists have developed some quality standards for patients with learning disabilities.
Ophthalmologists are doctors who specialise in knowing a lot about eyes.
The idea of these standards is that they can be used to improve the quality of service that people are getting.

Take the Health Care Survey Learning Disability Carers have produced a survey to find out how many people are getting their annual health- checks for people and to see how good they are.
They are asking for people and their supporters to complete the survey even if they havent had an annual health check.
Learning Disability Carers will tell everyone about the findings of the survey when it is complete.

Inspection of Bradford District NHS Care Trust The Care Quality Commission will be inspecting Bradford District NHS Care Trust, which provides mental health, learning disability and community health services to people in Bradford, Airedale and Craven.
This will be taking place from 12 th June.
The inspection team would be very interested to hear from anyone who has used any of these services in this trust in the last 12 months. The inspection team are keen to hear the evidence from local voluntary and community groups about the quality and safety of care at this community health trust. You can send reports, peoples stories of care or other evidence your group holds about peoples care to [email protected] or you can ring 03000 616161. Please put the name of the trust you are sending information about in the title of the email to help pass it to the right inspection team. There will also be public listening events taking place. Fulfilling Lives The Peoples Learning Disability Parliament (County Durham) are holding a Fulfilling Lives event on:
Wednesday 14th May 2014
It starts at 10am and will finish at 1pm
It will be at the Durham Town Hall
The day will include a variety of informal engagement methods tailored for people with learning disabilities to help make it clearer what contributes towards leading a fulfilled life.
It is free to attend. The event is for people with learning disabilities and their carers.
