Detailed Lesson Plan in Arts 8

I. OBJECTIVES
A. General
The learner demonstrates understanding of the varied arts forms used in Japanese
Musical Theater or Kabuki.

B. Specific
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
1. analyze how elements of sound, gesture movement, and costume affect the
performance of characters in kabuki theater;
2. perform a play illustrating the characters of kabuki theater with emphasis of sound
and gesture movements ; and
3. appreciate the roles of the characters on a play.

A. TOPIC: Festivals and Theater Arts of Japan (Kabuki Theater)

C. MATERIAL: Audio-Visual Presentation, Pictures, Video-clip of Ms. Lea Salonga

D. APPLICATION
The class will be group into 4. Each group will
perform their own kabuki play where themes
are given to them. Examples of themes are
love, family, school and business. Each one of
you may act as the character of a kabuki play.
You will give emphasis on the elements of
sounds, gesture movements and costumes (if
necessary). Each group will be given 5
minutes to prepare and 3 minutes for the
presentation.
