Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in English (Grade V)

I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, students are expected to:
 Identify the plot of the story;
 Label the plot diagram; and
 Appreciate the importance of plot of the story.

II. Subject Matter


Topic: Plot of the Story
Reference: EN5RC-Id-2.23
Materials: Laptop, projector and short story.

III. Procedure
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Prayer
- The students will be requested to lead the prayer.
2. Greeting
3. Checking of Attendance
4. Passing of Assignment
5. Review
What was our topic last meeting?
What are the part of figures of speech?

B. Motivation
- With the use of the projector and the laptop, the teacher will show the
class a video of a short story, entitled “The Turtle and the Kangaroo”
- Questions
Who are the Characters in the story?
Where did the story happen?
What is the moral lesson of the story?

C. Lesson Proper
- Presentation of the lesson
- PLOT
Plot is a pattern of events that develop from the interactions between
characters. The plot is the series of events and characters actions that
relate to the central conflict.
PLOT DIAGRAM

Climax

Exposition Resolution

- EXPOSITION
The start of introduction of the story.
- RISING ACTION
All of the events that takes place leading up to the climax. This
is where the reader is introduced to the conflict.
- CLIMAX
The most exciting part of the story.
- FALLING ACTION
All actions that occurred in the climax and before the conclusion
of the story.
- RESOLUTION
The conclusion of the plot and the loose ends are tied up.

D. Application
- The teacher will group the class into 4. Each group will dramatize only
the part of the story that will be given to them. Then prepare a short yell
before the presentation. They will be given 5 minutes to prepare.

E. Generalization

IV. Evaluation
The teacher will play another short story video entitled “Beauty and the Beast”.

Directions: In your quiz notebook, determine and write the exposition, rising
action, climax, falling action and resolution of the story.

V. Assignment

Directions: In a 1 whole sheet of paper, answer the following.

A. Identify the plot of the story.
