THE GRADE 12 SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL ABM STUDENTS OF KABACAN

NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL: APPROACHES AND ADJUSTMENTS

FROM ONLINE LEARNING TO FACE TO FACE CLASSES
AND ITS RELATIONSHIP TO THEIR
LEARNING OUTCOMES

(NAME OF THE RESEARCHERS)

INTRODUCTION

Rationale

Over the past few years, this kind of schooling has expanded and

gained widespread support. You have more control over your learning

environment when taking classes online, which ultimately aids your ability to

comprehend your learning better. There are constantly new learning models

emerging on the market, giving students numerous chances to customize their

education to fit them rather than the other way around.

Conducting an online class is the new mode of teaching and learning

conducted by the different Academic Institution due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

It caused a severe disrupted throughout the world. The Philippine government

halted the entire schools all over the country including the higher education,

it’s either public or private just to stop the possible spreading of the Corona

Virus. Temporary closing the Academic Institutions lasted for a years and until

now there are some of Academic Institution still conducting an online class

and did not yet proceed to the traditional mode of teaching and learning

especially in the private schools.

The new mode of teaching is very new to all learners as well as to the

teachers since it was the first time of having this kind of strategy of teachings.

Some of the teachers and learners did not yet literate in terms of using the

social media and different websites as a way of teaching and learning. Most of
the teachers and learners suffered a lot during the beginning. It really made a

huge positive and negative impact to the academic performance of the

students. The positive impact of online class, it aids students in developing

good study habits. Students’ internal urge to learn can be cultivated through

online education. It also aids the learners in understanding the value of taking

personal responsibility. Teachers may easily supervise and direct learning

process, including task completion and content comprehension. But despite of

this positive impact of the online classes, there are also negative impact. The

Online classes may create a sense of isolation coupled with lack of

communication and less of self-confidence. It also results of having a lower

grades because of the technical problem. There some of the students who are

living in a remote area where the internet connection is very slow and aside

from that there still students who cannot afford to have android phone which is

convenient to use in online class. All of these results a negative impact to the

grades of the students.

Conducting this research study may help the readers to recognize and

identify both positive and negative impact of the online class to the students of

Kabacan Senior High School who are taking the academic strand which is the

ABM. The adjustments and their approaches to the sudden changes of mode

of teaching and learning into the habitual traditional ways of delivering the

learnings to the students.

The significant of the study is to explore the struggle of the ABM

students they have faced because of the sudden change of mode of teaching

and learnings. It also explore the strategies they have done to overcome those

changes. Additionally, it can also determine if there is positive or negative

impact to their academic performance.

As the researcher progresses in this study, the researcher be able to

discover some of the approaches and adjustments from online learning to face

to face classes and its relationship to the learning outcomes of the ABM

students of the Kabacan National High School.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

Online Learning

The phrase "new normal" has been one of the most often used phrases

since the epidemic, and the rising usage of online learning resources is the

new normal in education. The COVID-19 epidemic has inspired innovative

approaches to education. Educational institutions all around the world are

looking to online learning platforms to carry on the process of educating

pupils. The concept of education has changed, and the foundation of this

change is online learning. This is the new normal. Today, digital learning has

become a vital tool for students and educational institutions all around the

world. This is a brand-new approach to education that many educational

institutions have been forced to adopt (Gautam, 2020).

Online education makes use of the internet as a delivery medium to

provide well-thought-out, high-quality, student-focused learning experiences. It

is based on tried-and-true best practices that foster productive interactions

between students, peers, teachers, and course material (Mathes, 2020). By

encouraging students to employ the numerous learning tools at their disposal

and increasing their degree of dedication to studying their majors, online

teaching encourages learning. The virtual world serves as an excellent

learning environment, giving users access to knowledge that is acquired via

experience. By designing assignments with problem- or challenge-based

learning scenarios and giving the learner complete choice over exploratory

learning experiences, instructors set up the course results (Hamdan & Amorri,

2022).

There are many advantages to online education, including mobility,

accessibility, a need for less physical infrastructure, fewer prices, and more

flexibility. However, that does not mean that it is without flaws. According to a

recent survey, 60% of students who had just switched to an online learning

system found the experience to be monotonous and found it difficult to stay

motivated to pay attention in class (Gutte, 2021). There is a challenge with

online learning because certain courses can't fully meet the requirements.

According to respondents to the same study, it was challenging to take

courses in design, theater, and education because of how things were

handled online as opposed to in person (Martin, 2021).

Face-to-Face Learning

According to tophat.com, in a face-to-face learning environment, a

group of students receive in-person teaching on course material and other

learning materials. This enables real-time communication between a learner

and a teacher. It is the oldest style of educational instruction. A higher level of

interaction amongst students is advantageous to learners.

In face-to-face instruction, students are responsible for their

development during the scheduled meeting time for the class. Face-to-face
instruction ensures a better grasp and retention of the lesson material and

provides an opportunity for students to form relationships with one another.

Face-to-face education is the approach used to deliver course information and

learning materials to a group of students. Live interaction between the

instructor and the student occurs throughout this sort of learning. The students

benefit from one another as well. One of the most well-liked and established

methods of education is this one. Students are in charge of their progress in

face-to-face learning, which has a set session time and date. Students that

engage in this kind of learning are better able to comprehend and remember

the concepts that were taught in the classroom (teachmint@wp).
