Traders are dwarves that live in Keldagrim, the capital of the Dwarven Realm. They work in the Trade Octagon, a large area in the city's massive palace.

The eight ruling companies of Keldagrim, the Consortium, are in constant need of labour, ore, and mining rights. Although some transactions are done formally behind desks by the companies' directors and secretaries, the large amount of trading performed often requires less formal methods. To accomplish this, the Consortium has hired traders to perform trades in the Trade Octagon.

Two traders for each company stand on each side of the Octagon, found in the centre of the city. Here they shout out their offers and look for potential deals. To help oversee this, the Trade Referee stands in the centre of the Octagon and ensures that the octagon runs as smoothly as possible.

Traders do not currently have roles in any quests, and cannot be talked to, but at level 90 Thieving, players may pickpocket them.

Pickpocketing[edit | edit source]

From 9 September 2009, players can pickpocket the traders. This requires a Thieving level of 90 and gives 556.5 experience if successful. If a player fails to pickpocket a dwarf trader, they will be stunned for 4.8 seconds and dealt 10 damage. There are trade floor guards around which will attack if the player fails to pickpocket them. The guards can be bribed for ten minutes by completing a task from the director the player aligned themselves with during The Giant Dwarf, though they are most commonly lured behind one of the offices with the door shut on them as this allows for uninterrupted pickpocketing.

At 90 Thieving without boosts, there is an estimated 30% success rate when pickpocketing traders.

At level 99 Thieving, players can expect the following experience rates. Players can gain up to 181,000 experience an hour from thieving dwarf traders. 447,000 experience an hour can be gained if using the Crystal Mask spell and Light Form prayer while thieving. Using a Trahaearn exoskeleton set, Master camouflage outfit, Soul-in-a-box, black ibis, abyssal lurker familiars, an Ardougne cloak 4, Sticky Fingers relic power, and a legendary five-finger discount aura in addition to crystal mask and light form a player can gain 1,000,000 thieving experience an hour.
