A strung rabbit foot is a neckwear slot item that, when worn, increases the chance of obtaining a bird's nest while woodcutting.[1][2] Wearing it requires a Hunter level of 24. The effect stacks with that of the Woodcutting cape, tree-shaking scrimshaw, and the elite Woodcutting outfits.

After the luck rework update on 27 March 2017, the strung rabbit foot also functions as a tier 1 luck enhancer, similar to the ring of luck. When worn, it slightly increases the chances for certain unique drops and rewards that are affected by the luck mechanic. It will only affect drop chances for rewards classified as tier 1 luck, and will not affect chances for rewards in higher luck tiers.

The strung rabbit foot shines whenever a rare drop is received, not necessarily when it impacted the drop.[3] When a rare drop is received, the message The rabbit's foot makes your neck tingle as you get a lucky drop. shows in the chat box.

The strung rabbit foot is made by using a ball of wool with a rabbit foot, requiring level 37 Crafting and giving 4 experience. Rabbit feet can be obtained from the Hunter skill by snaring rabbits, or by breeding rabbits in the Player-owned farm using the Farming skill.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • This item is referred to as a "lucky rabbit's foot" in the Hunter skillguide.
  • When the luck effect activates, a second message is also displayed in the chat box Your ring of Luck shines brightly! You got a lucky drop! This message will display whether or not a ring of luck is actually worn. This may be a bug.
  • During the second week of the 20th Anniversary celebrations, an additional bonus line followed the drop received as (Celebration of Combat bonus).

  1. ^ Mod Ryan. TIL equipping rabbitfoot necklace doesn't increase your chance of getting a bird's nest .-.. Reddit. (Archived from the original on 8 June 2021.) Mod Ryan: "So... I just looked at the birds nest code (in Runescape, not Oldschool) and I can confirm that it does actually increase your chance of receiving a nest when woodcutting."
  2. ^ Jagex. Mod Azanna on Discord. . 19 June 2023. Mod Azanna: "Strung Rabbits Foot should give ya more nests it won't effect what is in the nests but by concept of having more nests = more chances"
  3. ^ Mod Timbo. LotD shines even when a guaranteed drop is obtained. Can we get clarification on if it shines when the LotD made a rare drop happen, not just when we get a rare drop?. Reddit. 15 November 2017. (Archived from the original on 15 November 2017.) Mod Timbo: "There's no way of knowing so your ring shines when you get a drop because it's likely that it did help you get a drop. For things like guaranteed drops, I could have gone and made exceptions but it's not a big deal and worth delaying the update in order to do so. For those in the thread thinking that it shines only it has helped, it has never done that. If you were wearing a luck item and got a rare drop, it would always have shone previously."
