Broadcasts

Jump to navigation Jump to search

Broadcasts (also known as the News Feed or Broadcast Announcements) are a feature that allows certain news as well as player achievements and accomplishments to be displayed to all other players in the chatbox. Certain messages are only broadcast to the server on which the player is logged in, while others are displayed across every server. Achievements are also displayed to the player's friends and members of their clan. In their default setting, messages that are server-specific are displayed in orange, global messages in red, and messages to friends in green. Most game announcements will appear in yellow. Jagex Moderators have the ability to send special global announcements.

A player's achievements are only displayed to everyone if they have their private chat set to "on"; they are displayed to any friend so long as their private was not set to "off". These broadcasts can be disabled by setting private chat, online status, and game announcements to "off".

Players have the option to cosmetically toggle these announcements on or off in their chatbox. Originally, achievements were filtered with the rest of the game messages; now, only the game announcements are filtered this way.

Notification messages[edit | edit source]

These announcements are game-related news which inform the player of an upcoming event. They are all server-specific. Announcements in this category may be toggled in the Content Updates interface, found in Notifications section of Gameplay tab in Settings.

By default, event notifications appear in yellow.

Archaeology announcements[edit | edit source]

Archaeology-related announcements appear to everyone on all worlds in red.

  • Pylon becoming fully restored at Kharid-et Dig Site: Archaeology: The shield pylons at Kharid-et are active! While they remain so, you have a buff to excavation precision and XP across the site, plus a chance of finding additional items!
  • Rex skeleton becoming fully restored at Orthen Dig Site: Archaeology: Osseous has unleashed her mighty roar! While the effect is active, experience and drop-rates are increased for all Anachronia activities!

Holiday announcements (seasonal/discontinued)[edit | edit source]

Holiday event notifications appear in yellow or green.

Broadcast announcements[edit | edit source]

Broadcast announcements are notifications regarding other players' achievements. They are handled separately from game announcements, and can be toggled on or off with their own button on the chat interface.

These announcements are divided into three categories: global, server-specific, and friends-only.

These announcements will appear to everyone on all worlds across the game. By default, these appear in red.
