This can be a data management issue on Wikipedia as we must always ask ourself if we must introduce an inverse property for cases where we need them. Statue in <country>

Hi Hogü-456, I noticed a couple of edits like this one part of a rather large batch. You added "Statue in <country>" to instances of sculpture (Q860861). This is incorrect, this should have been "Skulptur". Statue should only be used for statue (Q179700). Could you please correct this or undo the batch? Thank you, Multichill (talk) 12:16, 21 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Multichill, I tried to reset the batch. You are rigtht, statue is not the same as sculpture. What is the difference and how do you define a statue or a sculpture. I think in the the batch where I added Statue as the description there are many statues who are sculptures. Next time I think more about it, before adding a description like this. -- Hogü-456 (talk) 14:00, 21 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Wikidata in Ulm

Hallo!

Something went wrong

Example: [1]. Matěj Suchánek (talk) 20:12, 18 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I try to fix it. I made a query with all descriptions for people from Czech Republik and found 1200 mistakes. I change my tablecalculation file for the description. Thank you for the information and have a nice evening. -- Hogü-456 (talk) 20:53, 18 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Mayors' jurisdictions

I notice that you added many items for the positions of mayors of towns (such as mayor of Langenneufnach (Q57520732)), using located in the administrative territorial entity (P131) to point to the relevant town. This is not the correct property for that relation. The correct property is applies to jurisdiction (P1001). --Yair rand (talk) 00:32, 25 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I have some problems with quick statements. I tried it and it doesnt work to remove the P131 property and set P1001. Do you know how I have to write it in quick statements that it works. -- Hogü-456 (talk) 18:28, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Mister Synergy has done it for me. Now they have the correct property. -- Hogü-456 (talk) 20:57, 27 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

hamlet in Canada

Hi, the descriptions you added in german seem wrong [2]. This hamlet is in Canada. --Fralambert (talk) 02:46, 20 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

+2 more errors in La Farga (Q31781231) and Marinyans (Q21480044). Aren't you relying on country (P17) ? --El Caro (talk) 07:43, 20 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I try to correct it today. I make a query an look what for hamlets are wrong and correct them. -- Hogü-456 (talk) 08:29, 20 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

+1 more error in Special:Diff/919604946. Please take more care. --Dipsacus fullonum (talk) 09:00, 20 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I made a query and found 335 mistakes. I have corrected them and on today evening I look again and maybe I find more mistakes. Next time I take more care and I look ::why I created these false descriptions. I havent found the mistake in my tablecalculation file yet. -- Hogü-456 (talk) 10:05, 20 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Former hospitals described as "hospital"

Hi Hogü-456

When working on Wikidata:WikiProject Medicine/Hospitals by country, I found that there was no easy way to identify former hospitals and many former hospitals were described in English as "hospital".

In the meantime, I added instance of (P31)=former hospital (Q64578911) to these and updated the English description from "hospital" to "former hospital" (or something more specific). If it already read something different (e.g. "museum"), I didn't change it. Interestingly, Wikidata:WikiProject_Medicine/Hospitals_by_country/Malta has more former hospitals than current ones.

Anyways, as I noticed you were editing descriptions for hospitals in German, I thought you might want to do the same change there. --- Jura 07:22, 19 June 2019 (UTC) Thanks for theinformation. I make a query and change the descriptions if needed. -- Hogü-456 (talk) 14:18, 19 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

-- Hogü-456 (talk) 20:12, 27 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

German name for the Philippines

The correct name of the country in German is "Philippinen" (one L two Ps) and not "Phillipinen". I think this affects all of your edits for the country such as the following: https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?diff=1020776543 --seav (talk) 09:23, 27 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Seav,

thank you for this information. I try to correct it. This is a mistake and I make a query and look where I find den word and try to solve it.-- Hogü-456 (talk) 14:05, 27 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Streets in the Netherlands

Thanks for adding German descriptions. Coud you please don't just add Innerortsstraße in den Niederlanden, but also add the municipality in the description? Not sure what is common in German, but you probably want to copy the Dutch label to either the German label or the alias. Multichill (talk) 10:22, 12 October 2019 (UTC) Hello Multichill,[reply]

you are right, that the municipality should be in the Description. I had yesterday a run time error when I selected the Municipality within the Query. Next time I dont add something like that when I get not the data in the right detailed quality as needed. I look how I can get them and then add the description and the name of the street as a Label or maybe as an Alias. I think that a Street name is something what is not different in other languages. So thank you for the information. I often have run time errors at the query service when searching for items without a German description when there are a lot of items. Do you think it is possible to create a list with all items of a specific country and the Statements of the items. I think that would help people get the information they need without a run time error. -- Hogü-456 (talk) 11:22, 12 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You could split it out per province, see for example https://w.wiki/9x4 . That won't time out.
If you're updating anyway, I think it's better to use "Straße" instead of "Innerortsstraße". We basically called everything a street (also rural roads, squares, etc.), de:Innerortsstraße seems to be much more specific. Multichill (talk) 11:33, 12 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Gemälde von QXXXXXX

Hi,

On your last batch you created some bad German descriptions like « Gemälde von Q10298146 » on Vista de Ouro Preto (Q62092146) when the creator didn't have a name in German. Looking more into it, the problem seems to have occured in the past also, this query https://w.wiki/B9Y says there is 7953 items about painting and with a label in german starting by "Gemälde von Q" (sadly, the query times out when, I try to display them :/ ).

Could you take a look and correct this if possible?

Cheers, VIGNERON (talk) 17:29, 31 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the Information. I try to correct it and look where the mistake happened in preparing the data for upload. Is it possible to get the data I added to QuickStatements as a List. I think this were a easy way to correct the thing. -- Hogü-456 (talk) 17:34, 31 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your (mostly) good work and good luck for fixing these mistakes (I do similar errors so I know how hard it can be). Cheers, VIGNERON (talk) 19:03, 31 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
In cases like this one it also went wrong. I just ran https://w.wiki/Ejn and it's almost 7000 paintings affected by this so that should keep you busy. Probably easiest to extract the English description ("painting by <someone>") and overwrite the German description based on that. Multichill (talk) 14:58, 1 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What is[3] wrong here. I look for the creator Label and dont get it. I only see the Q-Number but not the Label. I remove the descriptions now and then run a query to find the creators of the paintings to add them. -- Hogü-456 (talk) 15:18, 1 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The "?UrheberLabel" is just an empty field, you never set it in the query. Quite a few painters haven't matched to creators yet. That's always work in progress to create missing painters. Best to only add descriptions to paintings for which the creator is known. Multichill (talk) 16:34, 1 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Can you please show me how I need to change the Query that I see the creator. I thougt that what I have in the Point after SELECT ist what I get as a result if something is found. I mean the query after you get to with this link [4]. -- Hogü-456 (talk) 19:19, 1 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

QS batches "running" but not really

The current incarnation of QS is said to only run two batches per user at a time, so having four "running" simultaneously appears to be pointless. I suspect (having run into a similar situation previously) that having four batches running has also led to one of my batches, even if it is the only one of mine being queued at the moment, being stalled for a while. Could you try "running" at most two at a time (i.e. stopping the other two you have queued at the moment)? Thanks! Mahir256 (talk) 00:19, 11 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Mahir, thank you for the information. I live in Germany and so I read it now first. Maybe there is a adminstrator who can stop batches when it is needed. I try to run only two now at the same time. Where can I find this information that there are only two batches per user. I dont have a problem with it. But I think it should be changed. Are there plans to improve QuickStatements that it is possible to run more batches at the same time. -- Hogü-456 (talk) 13:49, 11 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Was meinst du? Was machen wir mit Munca (Q31531141)? lg --Herzi Pinki (talk) 08:25, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

--Hogü-456 (talk) 14:57, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

wrong description

Hi, this was really wrong, how did you go from Canada to Kongo? Please fix and revert --Hannes Röst (talk) 19:05, 4 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I am not sure what went wrong there. One possibility is that I had a formula in the Spreadsheet and instead of the Formula I used then a fix value. I try to correct it. --Hogü-456 (talk) 19:13, 4 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The formula went to the false cell. This is from my view the reason for the wrong descriptions. I tried to avoid that so it should not happen again. --Hogü-456 (talk) 20:09, 4 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! --Hannes Röst (talk) 21:04, 4 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Indien?

Descriptions of scientific articles

Hello,

I can see you are running a job with Quickstatements adding German descriptions of scientific articles (wissenschaftliche Artikel batch #46746). It is, in my opinion, quite helpful to provide publication dates in the descriptions.

Could you please re-run the job with the Polish language descriptions ? I can provide you with suitable descriptions or alternatively I can do it myself if you can send me the German input to Quickstatements.

All the best,
Kpjas (talk) 12:45, 20 December 2020 (UTC) Hello Kpjas,[reply]

it is good if the descriptions help you. There are a lot of scientific articles in Wikidata the number without a Polish Lanugage description you can find here [5]and I use the following Query [6] to find the articles without a description in a specific language, defined in the query. I made a query to get all scientific journals and since a few months I select every day a few of the journals and look which articles published in that journals dont have a description in the specific language. You can find the file I use for data preparation here. [7] The file is called Datenaufbereitung wissenschaftliche Artikel.ods I hope that it is possible to access it in that way. If you tell me how the description should look like I can help you changing the file, so that it is possible for Polish descriptions. It is not possible to edit this File in PAWS. Maybe it is possible in a CSV-File. In LibreOffice it is possible to save Formulas in CSV-Files. I dont know how other Spreadsheet programs show content that could be a formula in a CSV-File. --Hogü-456 (talk) 13:51, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the information. Can I access to see your working file " Artikel.ods" so that it will be helpful for me to prepare missing description for working language. It will be good if I can see you cvs file since i use CSV to add labels. Meanwhile I couldnt find anything from here. [8]- --Akbarali (talk) 06:23, 10 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

[WMF Board of Trustees - Call for feedback: Community Board seats] Meetings with the Wikidata community

The Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees is organizing a call for feedback about community selection processes between February 1 and March 14. While the Wikimedia Foundation and the movement have grown about five times in the past ten years, the Board’s structure and processes have remained basically the same. As the Board is designed today, we have a problem of capacity, performance, and lack of representation of the movement’s diversity. Our current processes to select individual volunteer and affiliate seats have some limitations. Direct elections tend to favor candidates from the leading language communities, regardless of how relevant their skills and experience might be in serving as a Board member, or contributing to the ability of the Board to perform its specific responsibilities. It is also a fact that the current processes have favored volunteers from North America and Western Europe. In the upcoming months, we need to renew three community seats and appoint three more community members in the new seats. This call for feedback is to see what processes can we all collaboratively design to promote and choose candidates that represent our movement and are prepared with the experience, skills, and insight to perform as trustees?

In this regard, two rounds of feedback meetings are being hosted to collect feedback from the Wikidata community. Two rounds are being hosted with the same agenda, to accomodate people from various time zones across the globe. We will be discussing ideas proposed by the Board and the community to address the above mentioned problems. Please sign-up according to whatever is most comfortable to you. You are welcome to participate in both as well!

Also, please share this with other volunteers who might be interested in this. Let me know if you have any questions. KCVelaga (WMF), 14:32, 21 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Call for participation in a task-based online experiment

Dear Hogu-456,

I hope you are doing good,

I am Kholoud, a researcher at King's College London, and I work on a project as part of my PhD research, in which I have developed a personalised recommender system that suggests Wikidata items for the editors based on their past edits. I am collaborating on this project with Elena Simperl and Miaojing Shi.

I am inviting you to a task-based study that will ask you to provide your judgments about the relevance of the items suggested by our system based on your previous edits. Participation is completely voluntary, and your cooperation will enable us to evaluate the accuracy of the recommender system in suggesting relevant items to you. We will analyse the results anonymised, and they will be published to a research venue.

The study will start in late January 2022 or early February 2022, and it should take no more than 30 minutes.

If you agree to participate in this study, please either contact me at kholoud.alghamdi@kcl.ac.uk or use this form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSees9WzFXR0Vl3mHLkZCaByeFHRrBy51kBca53euq9nt3XWog/viewform?usp=sf_link I will contact you with the link to start the study.

For more information about the study, please read this post: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/User:Kholoudsaa In case you have further questions or require more information, don't hesitate to contact me through my mentioned email.

Thank you for considering taking part in this research.

Regards

Quickstatement Tips

Appreciating your efforts, It will be highly useful if you can share the method you follow to generate quick statements as bulk. Akbarali (talk) 19:42, 4 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Akbarali I use a Spreadsheet to generate the Descriptions and use SPARQL-Queries to get the dataset for which I a apply the Spreadsheet functions. If you send me a Wikimail I can send you the Spreadsheet I used to create the Descriptions for scientific Articles and if you want I can show you the way I am doing it in a video call.

Beschreibungen Governorate in Saudi-Arabien

Viele Grüße--Dawn Shaughnessy (talk) 21:00, 25 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ich habe die Beschreibung angepasst. Hogü-456 (talk) 22:04, 25 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
