Champion obstacle racer to represent Reebok

Champion obstacle racer to represent Reebok

Date: 2013-11-15
Rough terrain, unknown trails and exhausting obstacles are all factors synonymous with obstacle racing, and is also what makes this growing movement so exciting to fitness enthusiasts across the world.  Following global trends, this discipline is currently taking South Africa by storm and, being a fitness brand at the forefront of sports innovation, Reebok is extremely proud to announce that they have partnered with champion obstacle racer, Claude Eksteen.

"We are very excited to have Claude representing Reebok at the various obstacle races that take place across the country. We look forward to supporting him, and wish him every success in these challenges," confirms Steve Young, Reebok Communications Manager.

Before embarking on his first obstacle race, Claude competed professionally on the International Triathlon Circuit where he accumulated many international and local victories. After a long successful career in Triathlons and looking for a new challenge, Claude made the switch to Trail Running. In a very short period of time he has already seen himself climb the elite ranks of Trail Running to become one of the best Trail Runners in the country.  In 2013 Claude attempted his first obstacle course in which he found immediate success.

"Claude has dominated this new and exciting sport, establishing himself as one of the best obstacle course racers in the country. This was proven yet again when he recently won the Impi Elite Race Gauteng #2, having completed the 18km/25 obstacle course in an impressive time of 1 hour 43 minutes and 33 seconds," says Young.

The typical obstacle race is comprised of a multitude of challenging obstacles that the individuals are required to overcome prior to moving onto the next section. To successfully navigate and complete the race participants need to be in good physical condition, as the series of taxing challenges will test their endurance and mental conditioning. "Obstacle racing has proven to be a fun community driven event, which ultimately epitomises Reebok's goal to empower people to be fit for life. Claude is the ideal athlete to promote our vision of getting people involved in all types of fitness events," explains Young.

He continues, "Claude will be representing Reebok in future obstacle races and will be kitted out in Reebok technical apparel and performance shoes. We welcome him to the Reebok team".
