Peace and Living Green Festival
A glorious festive season day long Peace and Living Green Festival is being held at the beautiful Inanda Dam on Sun 8 December.
The festival is being held prior to Christmas and at the beginning of the holidays to allow visitors to browse the stalls for gift ideas, healthy food options, recycled / up-cycled items, decorations and festive treats.
The Peace and Living Green Festival was founded by Wushwini Pan African Centre and intends to be an annual outdoor event at the KwaNgcolosi Inanda Dam to attract locals and tourists and enlighten people about living green. It hopes to bring people of different cultures and races together to celebrate 25 years of democracy as one nation. It is also intended to increase rural tourism in this pristine area.
"We all know the need to conserve our planet and be mindful with our purchases. Against the backdrop of the consumer-focused Black Friday flurry, we want to offer Durbanites a more authentic, environmentally-friendly array of stalls as a counterpoint to the typical mall experience," says playwright, theatre activist and cultural entrepreneur, Jerry Pooe who heads theatre company, Eager Artists and Wushwini Pan African Centre.
The Festival will feature organic food court, eco fashion exhibits, hands on DIY workshops, live music, video art, organic beer and wine garden, inspiring keynote presentation and market place featuring products and services from local, provincial and national green and sustainable businesses and organisations, Kids Green Zone, good green deeds corner, crafts corner and theatre. Display of organic vegetables and fruits from the farmers and rural community youth and women. The focus will be music performed on the main stage, music that will appeal to our rainbow nation.
To this end, the festival will allow NO single-use plastic, no plastic straws, no polystyrene.
The Peace and Living Green Festival takes place from 10am until 6pm, on Sun 8 December.
